Feeling like nagging someone? Then go to Nags Head Ale House! Wait, no. Wrong definition. I think we're talking about horses actually. One thing I know for sure is you'll have a night of enjoyment at this horsey Huntington spot. I don't get up to this town enough, but be it for dinner, a show, or maybe I'm fighting crime (Batman side job?), I always end up at NHAH by the end of the evening. That was the case a few weeks ago following a show at The Paramount. A short walk from the venue and there you are. You've arrived at Nag's Head. *Cue the horse sounds* Now be ready upon entry because this place gets crowded early and only grows from there. Snagging a table can be tough, but if you get one, be like Jack in Titanic and never let go (even if he did). Decibel volume might get louder than anything you just jammed to down the street. Spatially you also might struggle in not "making new friends" due to close quarters. Despite this, there's enough to enjoy. For one, the beer. Oh the beer. I chalk up Nag's as one of the first bars that started me down the path of craft beer drinking. Plenty of rotating local choices and several unique ones mixed in there (Kuka banana nut!). The bartenders do a bang up job in taking orders despite barely being able to hear you. Trained in lip reading perhaps?There's also some foosball and darts for your bar game pleasure, that is if you can snag a game amidst the hoards. Overall, Nag's Head Ale House isn't meant for a quiet night of wine drinking with grandma. It's a little rowdy, and the word sardine might pop into your head, but beyond that, you'll get some great brews and a fun night with friends. I love everything about this bar. From the ambiance, bartenders, drinks, music, everything is right. Beer selection is awesome and they constantly change up their taps and bottles. Place is always busy yet I find that I am never waiting to grab a drink. The bartenders are fast, attentive and really informative about the beers here. I've come here dressed up in heels looking fancy, I've come straight from work, and I've come in sweatpants and sneakers. This is a mediocre bar. Just a stop in the night; nothing crazy to tell about it either way. But oh my goodness. This gets 1 star because the bouncer (I'm not sure how many there are) but the one there last night is TERRIBLE. What an absolute ass hat. The way he treats people, and in particular WOMEN, wow. Not worth spending a dime here with people like that. Some things he said to us: "Can you just shut the fxxk up and show me your ID." Me and my friends used to frequent this bar often, but the staff is incapable of noticing the difference between a real ID and a fake ID. My 23 year old friend who was sober and our designated driver was kicked out because a poorly trained bartender did not believe he was of age even after being shown a valid drivers license while he was standing with me at the bar. Like a lot of reviews have mentioned, the bouncer and bartending staff seem to all share a single collective brain cell. I have never had a problem with my ID anywhere other than this establishment, but time and time again they give me grief for it. It's a shame because the bar is actually quite good, but the staff is absolutely horrible. Me and my friends have been regulars here for a few months now, coming in both when it's busy and less crowded, but we will no longer be supporting this business. If the managers wanted to improve the bar, I would totally overhaul the staff. Also someone tried to sell me drugs there last night, which made me extremely uncomfortable. I came here for my friends birthday after dinner at Besito. This place was very inviting and was the most interesting looking place on this street. The staff was nice and it was a Wednesday we went. Therefore, it was big ass game night which was so fun. They have big jenga, trouble, connect four, never would I ever, and darts. The African American bartender with the light eyes was nice and attractive. They had an outdoor area as well and the bathrooms were clean which was nice. Local watering hole. My and my bud needed to get out and have a few cocktails and some attitude adjustment - so we ventured over to Huntington Village and strolled around. We wound up in Nags Head - which I hadn't been to in years and was pleasantly surprised to find that it was still a decent place. The crowd was definitely on the young side but not the usual frat boy rabble. Bartenders were very good- and prices were surprisingly sane. The bartenders couldn't be friendlier. Great music and welcoming vibes. However, if you're at all concerned about contracting COVID-19, don't go there! Neither of the two bartenders wore masks. It's ok, not great. I think this place gets bloated reviews because this is a better bar for the area. I was disappointed. The beer selection was decent, but I don't understand why they would even have beers like Corona available if they are supposed to care about the quality of their beer. A review mentioned a hipster crowd- maybe I'm not familiar with hipster in that part of town but the vibe was much more of the fraternity, jock, cheerleader that seems to be perpetually in high school crowd. There was a band there, the band was ok but don't take a date there as you can't hear each other talking- unless of course you are more interested in getting them drunk on cheap beer and not in having a conversation. The bar/restaurant you pick to take a date says a lot about you and this says you are boring. The management was rather rude. How to make Nag's Head better - improve the atmosphere, it's very standard with no character to stand out. It's like any other Long Island or Midwest bar. -Get rid of the bad beer and get together with local brewers for limited release barrels -Have some unique drink selections that would make people want to seek out this place -Get a great food menu. If you are looking for a place to get a spot at the bar or a seat at a table with your friends Nag's Head will deliver. While still sort of dive-y it is a step up from some of the other local watering holes. One of the few places in Hton you can go to with 10 friends and fit comfortably. They have a small area outside that is fun in the summer. It's usually free to get in here unless there is a band playing and then it's usually $5. The bands aren't great but it's still fun to see a live show. The bartenders are friendly and good with some buybacks. Def go to watch a local sports game and not be bothered by annoying servers or other patrons. To compare it to the bars around it it's a step up from Huntington Village tavern and a step down from Riley's. read more

Came in for some drinks with friends after having dinner. Ordered a. Vodka cranberry. It was gross. Super strong. But tasted like cheap vodka! Couldnt even drink it. Nothing too special about this place. Came here for some cheap drinks in Huntington after discovering that the Ps and Qs had burned down (we thought it was just a really convincing speakeasy!) The drinks were fair priced. They had Six Point on tap which is always good. There's a dart board and a foosball table, always nice. We would have gone to the outdoor section since it was a nice night, but we could smell the smoke before we even got out there. This place used to be great, the service was fast and the bartenders were polite. They had great crowds, a nice Foosball table, a decent Dartboard and a comfortable outdoor area with heaters in the winter. Lately I have noticed that the service has been getting worse. Getting a beer takes way too long even with the smaller crowds and I noticed the bartenders have developed a strange attitude. The Foosball table has been broken for a while now and there were no heaters all winter, I assume they sold them. We will keep the old Nags Head in our hearts. read more

You gotta go back up to the bar and order a drink. Hungry? well pick up that menu on the table and call the number, tell them what table you want and they will deliver form an outside source. Was looking to come in tonight with my fiancé and my friends, we had 2 drinks at another restaurant with dinner before coming, the bouncer if he even is one immediately said he won't let us in because my fiancé was "drunk" she has a lisp...she wasn't close to being drunk by a long shot. Let me say right at the offset that I'm hardly out after nine p.m. Since I wake up early for work most days. Some friends, the Mad Russian, and I decided we needed a night of bar hopping and Nag's Head is where we wound up. We had been to several places before and this is where we decided to settle in for a couple of beers. At first, it seemed that it would be a quiet place. But as my regular bedtime passed, the place really started to fill up. (You might guess I'm not a twenty-something). By 11:30pm the place was packed and I was no longer double the age of the next younger person. A good mix of young and old, Nag's had a great mix of all ages. Game tables (darts and foosball) and beyond a nice albeit tiny patio to take in the night air kept the patrons busy. Bartenders were quick with a drink and the many beers on tap were cold and refreshing. And although there were many people seated at the bar or various pub tables, we found we could still talk and carry on a normal conversation. An excellent watering hole and definitely a chill place to hang out for a beer or a mixed drink. We, of course, will be back. read more

Hard to find at first but literally right next to besito (which is awesome bc you can get some great Mexican food there).
