I am writing this to express my disappointment and frustration regarding my family's recent stay at this hotel. We traveled from out of state for a family vacation and specifically chose to stay at this hotel to support a local business rather than a large franchise. One of the reasons we selected this property was because it openly promotes itself as a pet-friendly hotel. We also paid the required pet fee for our dogs, with the understanding that they would be welcomed as long as we followed your policies. which we have. Throughout our stay, we were repeatedly told that complaints were being made about our dogs being noisy in our hotel room. This was very concerning, as we have never had issues with our dogs at any hotel in the past. They are well-behaved, quiet, and sleep in their kennels when we are away from the room. Our dogs were also with us for the majority of the day and were not left unattended for extended periods of time. The only incident that occurred was when a room cleaner knocked on our door, which caused our dog to growl, which is a natural response to an unexpected knock. Our dog did not bark, and the situation was quickly resolved. This isolated moment does not justify repeated complaints or accusations of ongoing noise disturbances. Despite paying a pet fee and following proper procedures, we were made to feel as though our dogs were not actually welcome. We were effectively made to feel that our dogs should not be left alone in the room at all, even while properly kenneled, which is unreasonable for a hotel that actively advertises itself as pet-friendly. What is even more troubling is the unprofessional conduct displayed by the manager, Michael Lopez. He instructed one of his employees to notify someone from our room yet again about these alleged complaints, and that person happened to be my 15-year-old son. Addressing a minor regarding a guest complaint is completely inappropriate and unacceptable. Any communication regarding concerns should have been directed to an adult.Because of the repeated accusations, the inconsistent treatment regarding your pet-friendly policy, and the stress this situation caused our family, we have decided to end our stay early and will be leaving one day ahead of our scheduled departure. This is not how we expected our family vacation to end, and it is extremely disappointing. We made a conscious decision to support a local hotel, expecting better customer service and professionalism. Instead, we were met with repeated accusations and poor judgment from management. I am beyond disappointed and disgusted by how this situation was handled. I hope this complaint is taken seriously and that appropriate steps are taken to address the unprofessional behavior and inconsistent enforcement of policies so future guests are not treated the same way. read more

Great hotel for the cost and fantastic location within Ruidoso. The hotel is located in the midtown area and super walkable to a ton of cute little shops and places to eat. It was a good deal for the price, under $200 for two weeknights. There were a few little things about the room that weren't perfect but honestly you're doing it wrong if you're spending too much time in the room anyways. We were a little nervous choosing an independent hotel versus some of the brand names. Ruidoso didn't have many, if any, upper end lodging options. Most were in the mid-tier to low-tier range including rentals. But this said it was the newest and had a better price than the name brands so we decided to give it a shot. That turned out to be a great decision. The hotel sits right in the middle of all of the midtown shops. It is just behind a bank that faces the main road. The outside looks just as nice as any of the name brands. Inside, the lobby looked new and clean. The front desk worker was very friendly and helpful. She reminded us about New Mexico's mandatory face mask rule and that it was being actively enforced in Ruidoso. Our check-in was smooth and efficient. The only thing that made me hesitant at first was that two of the workers were smoking outside of the front door when we arrived. They immediately left when we stopped but the smell of smoke drafted into the lobby. I was concerned that the hotel would smell like that but it didn't. We were able to park around back and enter a door that was directly by the elevator. The hallways were warm but our room was nice and cool. It was the same size and quality as what we would expect at any of the other mid-tier brand name hotels. We had two queen beds. Both were extremely comfortable. The pillows were great and the duvet was nice and thicker than what you normally get. There was a microwave and refrigerator in the room along with a desk and TV. Our window looked up toward the mountains. The bathroom was standard size with a large granite countertop, standard tub/shower, and nice towels. There weren't many people staying there while we were there but hotels are at reduced capacity and the governor is encouraging visitors to stay out of New Mexico. Everyone we ran into in the hotel was wearing a mask and keeping their distance so we felt very safe. Again, you can't beat the location of this hotel. Several shops and restaurants were within walking distance. Sunday was busy but we noticed the crowds were much smaller on Monday. We took a drive to Ski Apache late in the afternoon. I had skied there as a little kid with my parents and wanted to see what I remembered. I didn't remember the white knuckle drive up the mountain. The views are amazing but my hands were sweating especially the second half of the drive. Lots of hairpin turns and being very close to the edge with little railing. Even my husband was nervous in places and he's driven many of these roads before. There are only a couple of places to pull off so once you start, you're committed. We did see and hear the elk up there. There is hiking, a zip line, and a gondola ride if you make it up to Ski Apache. Of course there is skiing in winter too. Hotel Ruidoso is definitely worth checking out if you come to town. read more

Beware of changes in charges you have been quoted. After a price for 4 nights was quoted and charged on the credit card, a couple of days later we were quoted a much higher nightly rate, adding over $2,000 to our credit card bill!!! Management must have realized the booking was during the holidays and decided they were willing to scam their customers!!! How unethical can they be!!! We were in town for the weekend to do some skiing and sightseeing. We chose this place mostly because it had Tesla Chargers. Both were in good working condition. Plenty of private parking. The rooms were clean and well stocked with towels and simple amenities. Despite the parking lot being full, it was quiet and without incident. Breakfast was a small buffet style spread. It was sufficient for our early morning needs. It's in a great location for walking the main strip as well as driving to the local hot spots (casinos, skiing, restaurants, etc). First time to stay here and had a great time. The rooms were nice and clean and modern. I helpful desk clerk. Carpet had some marks on it and needed attention in our room. I also wish that hotels would vacuum the hallways more often. I hate passing by the some liter often but I have seen that in fancy hotels in big downtowns. Breakfast was varied with hot offerings and the attendant was being attentive. i loved this location as you can walk to all the shops and not have to find parking. Pool and hot tub were fine. This was a great hotel! Super nice and clean and located extremely close to all the shops! When I got to my room it was very nice and had no bad odors as some do! The staff was also very nice! I gave management an opportunity to address an issue but since they never replied to me, here it is for the yelp world to see. Sometime in Feb this 2020 B.C. Check in Nobody at counter ...rang bell. Waited....Walked around hotel interior....Came back nobody....Rang bell again. Finally saw front desk guy folding sheets in the back... Rang bell again. Finally got his attention. Looked at me went back to folding sheets. ...Waited more. I called hotel from my cell phone. He annoyingly came to the front desk. I told him that was me calling and hung up. Asked him if I could check in. He had A pretty bad odor. I wanted to throw up in my mouth bad. He started the check in process. The phone rang again. He annoyingly answered the phone. In A rude tone said hold on I'm with another customer putting that caller on hold. Check In complete. Now room ... Remember It's Feb sometime in Ruidoso. We got in the room the thermostat said it was 50 degrees. It felt like 30. It took A minute but we discovered all the windows (it was A suite) were all the way open. The last time i stayed at this place many years ago I had A small problem in which management gladly helped me with. Before that never A problem. Now management doesn't bother to care. WORST SERVICE EVER! I called earlier in the night around 9 pm and spoke with a girl that was very pleasant on the phone to reserve a room for the night. I give her my name, reserve a double room, give her my credit card number, she quotes me a price and I tell her I will be arriving late around 1 to 2 am and hang up after she tells me that she would let the late shift know to expect us. Well, my friends and I pack up our stuff and head over. Now let me list all the things this place did wrong. Nobody was at the front desk, I understand that you can't always be there but he didn't even say anything about it. I work retail too and nobody wants to be left standing there like an idiot. When we go to check in, apparently there was no reservation. I know it's not the guy's fault there's no reservation but the way he handled it was horrible. He goes to try and give us a different room, but when the computer doesn't let him enter it in, he says there's nothing he can do. SERIOUSLY, my friends and I drive 3 F***ING hours, it's 1:30 in the morning, and he obviously didn't give a sh*t since it wasn't his problem. We asked for help on finding a room for the night and he just says there's a Best Western nearby and to try there. What had me really mad and asked for the manager's name was that after all this, he never even apologized for anything and was completely useless. I expected him to think that we were supposed to sleep in the car. Luckily for us, another hotel had a room available for us. read more

Our stay here was a good one, but there is nothing that stands out about the hotel other than its location. It's right in town within walking distance of many shops and restaurants. The beds were OK and the pillows were hard foam, but the service at the desk was good (friendly and helpful) and the house cleaners did a great job. They do offer a free hot breakfast, but it didn't look appetizing so we went elsewhere. My main complaint is that though the hotel had few guests, the staff put people in the room next to us. When there are lots of empty rooms, why not put at least one empty room between guests? We stayed for three nights, and two of those nights, guests were booked in the room next door late in the evening, right about the time we were going to bed. The room next door was connected to our with an adjoining door, so the sound was much louder than if it had been a solid wall. read more

This place is nice and very conveniently located so it is only a short walk to the shops on Sudderth but not too close to hear any noise. The room was modern and clean, with the only complaint being the bed closest to the bathroom was too close to the wall. We stayed in room 320 which had a mini-fridge and a window looking out above the front entrance to the hotel. They also had a Yelp offer which was good for 10% off...the girl working the front desk had no idea what Yelp was, but she honored it anyway. read more

Surprisingly impressed for sure. After pulling into town at 8pm, tired, and looking and looking for a hotel to only find "log cabin" hotels with vacant offices and what appeared to be an alien abduction, we decided to call Hotel Ruidoso (creative name). Glad we did, friendly staff hooked us up with Triple A pricing even though we're not members. Saved about $80. Thanks buddy! The hotel itself seems new, really nice for the price, or even compared to others that are much more expensive. Nothing too crazy, typical beds, flat screen TV, fridge, microwave... lalala... The bathroom is pretty large, and the shower was awesome, tons of pressure and water flow, that was my favorite part. Hotels showers are usually garbage. Didn't have the breakfast and didn't go to the pool, so can't comment about that. If you're looking for a nice place, at a reasonable price, this won't disappoint. read more

This Hotel is in a great location. Right in the middle of Ruidoso. All the shops were in walking distance. The Ski Apache and Ruidoso Winter Park was a short drive. The Mountain of the Gods Casino was even closer. The rooms were clean and well kept. Breakfast was ok (fake eggs ) but u can't eat free. The staff was helpful and courteous. It's started snowing during our stay and across the street there was a field where the kids(me) played in the snow until the roads cleared enough to drive. read more

This place has clean rooms. The staff was nice. The pool had way too much chlorine. The hot tub was amazing. The location is right in the middle of everything. We paid $180/night to stay here. I get a little disappointed when a place serves powdered eggs for breakfast when you pay so much to stay there. We arrived at breakfast at 0900 (breakfast is done at 0930) and there were no more biscuits and gravy being served. It's not glamorous in any way, but there's a comfort, quiet coziness to this place that is very inviting. The staff was super friendly and helpful, the rooms are well kept and tidy, and the place felt refreshing and bright. The management even calls you after you settled into the room to make sure everything is to your living! They also have a nice jacuzzi to relax in after a long day and a heated pool as well next to it. The only downside was the fitness center which didn't really have any machines I wanted, but it was sufficient enough for a quick run. read more

Last Tuesday (8-7-18) nite we stayed at Hotel Ruidoso because I had stay here before and was very pleased with first the location and the clean, pleasant hotel. NOT anymore! It is very dirty, in need of repair to include new carpet and tile. It smelled terrible both when we checked in and when we went down for breakfast. I only ate the boxed cereal and the coffee was just brown coffee. I am very disappointed and will never stay here again! read more

I was very impressed with our stay. The staff was very helpful- Justin recommended a local steakhouse, which turned out to be one of the best restaurants in Ruidoso. Decent hotel and location. Right in the middle of midtown Ruidoso, plenty of neat shops and restaurants. Breakfast is included, and there is a fitness room. The room itself was nice and clean. What I did not like was the pool and spa! We walked in and both looked filthy! There was so much chlorine (to kill the germs!) that my girl's eyes were red within minutes. I did slip into the spa and when I turned it on, soap bubbles formed, letting me know they put some sort of cleanser in it. I got out immediately as it was not normal bubbles from spa jets. If they could hire a pool/spa cleaner, then I would give this place 5 stars, otherwise 4 it is. Not a bad spot to stay, but avoid the pool area! read more

Great location walking distance to shops. The beds were very comfortable. Really liked the fridge in the room- could keep cold drinks & food if needed. The breakfast could be improved. All cereal was sugary. No fruit & biscuits were not kept warm the hallways & elevator floors were dirty too. read more
