So where do I start!! First they show up an hour later than the appointment while drinking a beer. They did not wrap some of the items. When they got to the destination they were dripping in sweat. Then complain about the two flights of stairs. They forgot there tool box at the original pick up location which is where they put the screws to the bed that they took part to move. After they realize that they forgot it, and made it seem as it was my fault they left there own tools. Why argue with me about something that is clearly your fault, then say they are working hard. Well that is why we are paying you. Lastly they refused to come back to put the bed together that they actually took apart. Oh!! did i mention that they broke a vase??? on top of the fact they smelled like they had been drinking all day. What a joke of a company.. my advise..SPEND A LITTLE MORE MONEY FOR GOOD SERVICE..I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM. read more

It was Sunday morning, our scheduled moving day, (also the day before I started my new job), and the movers we scheduled did not show up and would not return our calls. We were frantic to find someone at the last minute. Shane and his crew saved us! We had to move a 4 bedroom house to another 4 bedroom house with big stairs to boot. Ok these guys are great! i way underestimated my move with the previous "professional bonded" movers and was in a terrible pinch. So i called mcMahon moving and they came and saved us at the last minuted! They worked hard and made our small budget go far! They turned a nightmare move into a fun relaxed afternoon. They were very careful with my stuff and were the only moving company willing to negotiate with me on a price (most places have a 2 hour minimum). The McMahon brothers were friendly, strong, and didn't waste any time. I particularly liked that booking them took less than 3 minutes, since when you're getting ready for a move you don't want to spend a bunch of time on the phone. They got the job done efficiently (3.5 hours for a family of four) and for much less than other moving companies in the area. They asked reasonable questions and followed our instructions on handling of all the items. Nothing was damaged and everything was put where we wanted it. Also, they were available on short notice when several other companies were not, which was a huge relief. The only reasons for 4 stars instead of 5 are: 1. They came 50 minutes late. 2. Once the truck was loaded with our possessions they took a 15-minute break "to get Gatorade" with the truck holding our stuff. Why didn't they just bring refreshments along? Or was that code for something else? 3. They didn't bring any packing tape because they left it at their last job. When ours ran out we had to pause to go by more from the local store. None of the above were a very big deal for us, so I'm pretty happy with them and would hire them again. (I hope I never have to move again!) read more

I don't like writing negative reviews but just take this as a PSA... I moved from Berkeley to the city and needed some last minute help. First off Shane and his crew were 2.5 hours late which wasn't a huge inconvenience, but it was scheduled to rain later in the day so when they finally got to my place the rain was just starting. The crew was nice but Shane was pretty unpleasant to deal with. Loading the truck took about an hour and a half w/ 3 men, no sense of urgency since you're paying them by the hour. After loading everything in to the truck, I was told they were going to take an hour break to eat. By the time they finally got to my new place the rain had really started to pour and Shane informed me that there was traffic charge because they had to go back and forth between the city and east bay. Confrontation is not something I like but I could not hold my tongue. Due to THEIR tardiness it was THEIR fault they had to sit in Bay Area rush hour rainy traffic. Had they been on time to begin with, they would of been driving back to east bay by 1 pm.. but instead they show up at 1 and take an hour to eat lunch?!! So. Much. No. After arguing about the cost, I finally decided to compromise because it was just easier to pay the guy so he would just leave. I feel bad for the rest of the crew because they were decent people. But if you're looking for a smooth moving experience, do not book with this company. Shane is too incompetent for words and the "service" is a total rip off. read more

Shane McMahon was wonderful when I needed to move a ridiculously long and fragile glass display case. I got price quotes from four other movers, and most didn't even want to do the job. I had some trepidations since Shane was the low bidder, but he and his team did a great job. It took awhile for him to round up enough men to safely lift the item into the truck, but it arrived at its destination in the Oakland hills without a scratch. The first day of moving they stayed with me unloading the truck until past 9pm (and drove the 1hour back) after I hugely underestimated the quantity of things I had to move. Shane and his assistant helped us move my 99 year old father-in-law from an assisted living place in Emeryville to one in Oakland. It was a short move with only a small studio apartment of furniture, clothing etc. They were about 1/2 hour late showing up but did call to tell us they were delayed in traffic. When they arrived and parked the truck, they jumped out and immediately went to work. They had all the necessary equipment and were very efficient. The mechanized hospital bed was quite heavy. They managed it themselves and even refused the offer of help from my son and me. The entire move was accomplished in less than three hours and the charge was very reasonable. Shane showed up late, hung over and with no equipment (dolly, hand truck, etc). It took almost another hour for him to come back with the equipment. Him and his body took about twice as long as it should to load the furniture into a pod. When the movers I hired at the other end opened the pod, they were scratching their heads... "Not professional work" they said. And they were right. Things fell over each-other, quite a bit of damage... I don't recommend these guys. Their hourly rate is low, but they take a long time and they do low quality work. I suspect that the seven good reviews they have are from friends... read more
