First thing first...they had almond milk for my coffee. If you've read any of my previous reviews that is one of my biggest pet peeves with breakfast places. Sunny Side Up gets an A+ for that! The service was fast and the waitress friendly and the place was packed on a Sunday morning. Hubby ordered the pig pile which sounds terrible (haha) but it was delicious. So much food that it kept him nice and full a long time! Imagine scrambled eggs with all the fixings mixed in like bacon, sausage and home fries. He really enjoyed it. I ordered the sampler and it was good. I liked that I got my usual eggs and home fries and one pancake...just enough for a little something sweet. I need to comment on the home fries - delicious. The breakfast is ok, the home-fries have quite a few onions just a heads up if you bring your children. The restaurant is quite small and parking is limited. The waitresses on the occasions I have been there are not very attentive and talk loudly among themselves, this does not make it enjoyable as it is a small restaurant. Fantastic little spot - I'm so glad we found it. Beach decor fits right in with the area. After four nights of camping at Burlingame, our family (including our two 7 year old twin nephews) were looking forward to a meal not cooked over an open fire. I got a meatball sub sandwich served with fries which was unbelievably good. Maybe I was just very hungry, but it had the greatest marinara on it I've ever had. My wife got a turkey club with fries which she rated as good and my sister in law got a breakfast scramble which was a massive portion of food: eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, cheese, and toast. We would have brought her leftovers home if we weren't camping. The kids got pancakes and a burger with fries. The burger wasn't cooked totally all the way through, but cooked enough to be perfect for a hungry kid. Our server was very friendly and accommodating. Prices were cheap compared to what we are used to in Hartford, CT. We will certainly be back! read more

Went here for breakfast with a bunch of my girlfriends. The place is very small but clean. We had semi good service. The waitress got all our foods out promptly and correct. The only complaint I have was the wait staff wasn't very attentive. I had to call the waitress every time we needed something. We even had to flag her for a young lady a table behind us. We had to ask to get extra water and asked for more coffee. The food was good but nothing to rave about. I would come again because it's seems reliable to have good food again. Food was not great and was overpriced. My cheese omelette was seriously lacking in cheese. Service was not great. No one came back to the table to ask if we wanted more coffee. To top it off, the server ran out of the restaurant basically accusing me of not leaving a tip when in fact I left a cash tip on the table and had written on the receipt that the tip was left on the table. I was talked into trying Sunny Side up by my 8 year old. That and they are the only place open after noon in westerly that I know of, that serves breakfast. Upon entering it's a cute place with adorable and yummy looking baked goods. It looks just like a breakfast place should, lots of tables and chairs. It was clean and presentable with nice beach-y decor. The problem was the food. I ordered a short stack of pancakes for my 7 year old, the short stack was huge and completely raw in the middle. I alerted the waitress and she offered to send them back but we opted to just eat around the edges that were cooked. We were pressed for time and the pancakes were large enough to give him plenty of food by just the cooked edges. She did take them off of the bill which I did not ask for, which was nice. The french toast my other son had was fine. I ordered the eggs (over easy) with homefries and toast. The homefries were flavorless and overcooked. I asked for the bacon well done, it was soggy. The eggs were very well done on one side and not cooked on the other, I asked for over easy not sunny side down. My husband had an omelet that was flavorless. Also, they had fake coffee creamer, it was international delight non-dairy creamer on the table rather than real cream. I prefer real cream in my coffee. Thank you. I am currently sitting in Sunny Side Up as I write this review. When I pulled into the parking lot, I was nervous because there were no other cars here. Granted, it is 11 AM, which is a little late for breakfast and a little early for lunch. I would have been here earlier, but I was arguing with my friends on Facebook about the How I Met Your Mother series finale. Anyway, please don't let the lack of vehicles deter you. The staff was very friendly, and the food was great. My friend and I both had The Pig Pile, which was a pile of scrambled eggs, cheese, bacon, sausage, ham and a side of toast. I would highly recommend it! Add a little hot sauce to it for some heat! It would be perfect as a Sunday morning hangover cure. Bland, cheap ingredients and condiments that are overpriced. The waitresses do not have their sunny side up, seem disinterested. Decor is fresh, beachy, cute, but doesn't make up for blah, tasteless food. They'll do fine because the beach tourist set will keep them going. Not so sure about the locals. Westerly is known for it's delicious, flavorful Italian influences, as well as Portuguese meats and sausages that are commonly incorporated in breakfast dishes. As locals, we did not find this here. I popped in here for a coffee and an egg and cheese wrap. I drank the coffee on the way to the ferry and waited 2 hours before eating the wrap, so keep that in mind as reading. The coffee was fine. I've had better but I've also had a heck of a lot worse. The wrap was OUTSTANDING. Hah. Bet you didn't see that one coming! Delicious and simple. As a group of seven we had breakfast at Sunny Side Up on 1/12/2020. We have been coming here for many years but things have changed and we won't be back. All members of the party were dissatisfied with their meal. The eggs tasted bad and were inedible and the hash browns dripped in grease causing more than one of us to suffer heartburn for hours afterwards. The service was good except no one asked us how our meals were or we would have alerted them to the issue.
