    Almond croissant
    Emily C.

3.5/5. I came in on a rainy Saturday morning. The line moved pretty quickly. It's a cute spot with a lot of options! I went with the almond croissant, a sea salt chocolate chip cookie, an oatmeal blueberry cookie, and a hot coffee. I was fairly disappointed in the sweets - the croissant was almost like a cream puff, not a lot of almond flavor. The cookies were okay, I might have set my expectations too high! I'd come back but would probably get other things next time.

Came here on a Saturday morning at 9:30 AM and waited 45 minutes in line. Ultimately, I was pretty underwhelmed given the craze. A positive is that they had live music while you wait in line, which was cute and charming. We were able to stand in the shade, and there was ample seating. Our savory dish, the mushroom and goat cheese quiche, was delicious flavor wise. The negative is that, contrary to reviews, the line moved SO slowly. The line wasn't actually that long, it just took forever. Second negative was the texture of the pastries wasn't very good. The butterfly brioche croissant was, dare I say, downright bad. It wasn't sweet, but wasn't savory, and there was barely any filling so you mostly had to bite through thick layers of flavorless brioche. The quiche was good flavor wise but crumbled apart and didn't retain its shape at all. The coffee is drinkable, not much more. Maybe we ordered the wrong things, but I would only return if there was no line.

Really solid experience overall. It seems to be a very popular spot, with lots of locals and tourists alike. The pastries themselves were definitely good - while they weren't the best I've ever had (the ones we had were too sweet for us), they were definitely not bad by any means! I'd definitely recommend overall!

This brightly lit bakery is clean, welcoming, and hunger-inducing. The pastries look so delicious in the cases - like works of art. The sales ladies were very helpful and so pleasant! The desserts were absolutely delicious. I had a pistachio croissant, someone had a donut and another had The Opera.

This location had a nice operation going with outdoor seating along with a smooth ordering process as the line was pretty long. They served a number of different pastries, scones, cookies, breads, etc. I had a smoked salmon sandwich ($11.95?). It came with heirloom tomato, pickled red onion, capers, chive cream cheese, and lettuce on an everything croissant. This was very good. The fresh tomatoes and pickled red onions were the key here. The croissant was not overly seasoned, which was nice. The croissant itself was flaky and buttery. I also felt like the lettuce was not even needed here. The chive cream cheese was a nice compliment. I also tried a chocolate raspberry croissant. It was a great combination. I might have actually preferred it warm if that was something that could have been done. Will I go back? Yes.

A bit overpriced for the quality of the baked goods. We split a pistachio croissant and you really couldn't taste the pistachio. The cream pastry was just OK.

Perfect place as your first stop in downtown Mystic. Grab a coffee and a baked good then explore the surrounding streets, walk along the river and maybe even see the drawbridge get raised and lowered. It's a very popular spot so you may encounter a line but when we were there it moved fast and the staff were very friendly.

3.5/5. The pastries are good. I have a pet peeve however when a good bakery uses a microwave to warm them, it ruins the texture. They were also all very soft and lacked a croissant "bite", but the flavors were all very good. The coffee was good but definitely very sweet. Love the outdoor patio and seating.

Some kind of croissant with chocolate and pistachio, but trust me there's no pistachio in that.

I was very disappointed in this big shop that everybody raves about first of all I got a pistachio pastry didn't even taste like pistachio. It was overpowered by chocolate, but it was really alarming. Was why was it so green? Next issue was the macaroons cookies they're absolutely beautiful. Six cookies cost me 15 bucks and that's the tax too. The peanut butter and jelly were OK. The caramel salted one was not great. The only good one was the pistachio so for me, I will not be returning.

The display and selection - it's just really difficult to walk into a bakery shop and not feel uplifted! The aromas, the sights... before you even get to taste or indulge in it. It's been awhile so I don't remember what I ordered. But I'd go back because there was more than one thing I wanted to try.

    Brunch; Raw Bar

A brunch experience you definitely want to arrive hungry to!! I went to Sunday brunch at Sift bakery and I cannot wait to come back. You pay a flat rate for the food where it is a buffet style and you get the option to choose from a full breakfast (hot meal). Our waitress was so nice and was great about checking in on our dining experience. We definitely ate our money's worth! We started off at the pastry bar, I enjoyed the guava and cheese danishes & a mini chocolate croissant. Their spinach and cheese danish was also so tasty!! Then made our way through the charcuterie bar where there was an assortment of fine cheeses and meats, as well as the option for a fruit parfait which my friend really enjoyed. Finally, our favorite part of the buffet was the raw bar (which we could not stay away from). The oysters and clams were so fresh and cleaned exceptionally well- their mignonette was one of the best that I've had! The last 'course' of brunch was a dessert tower!!! I cannot wait to dine here again in the warmer months, this was epic.

Pecan Sticky Bun, Coffee and our take away items.

Sift Bake Shop is one of the highlights when coming to downtown Mystic. It's easy to find off of the main road with street or lot parking nearby. Nice looking bake shop with all kinds of sweet and savory items to choose from. They also offer a good amount of coffee or tea drinks too. It was tough to choose but we decided to have a pastry and a coffee to dine in and take a few items back to try later. We got the Pecan Sticky Bun to try inside and take home the Apple Turnover and a classic Chocolate Chip Cookie. The pecan sticky bun was delicious, good sized and perfect to share. Would get this again when back. Next day we had the Apple Turnover and choco chip cookie, both were equally delicious and nicely made. You can tell they make the classic pastries well! Staff was really nice, they are detailed if you want items warmed up, dine in for some or take some items home. They will pack all that up for you. If I recall correctly, prices seem to be what I thought it would be. Dining area is good sized, we came in when it was busy so we didn't sit in the main area, but we did find plenty of room in their heated patio area. It's enclosed so it's not really like you are sitting outside in the bitter cold. Overall, a great bakery and a spot not to be missed when visiting the area.

Long line but it goes quickly. Tasty pasties and friendly staff. They have more than one location but we were in Mystic and it was busy.

So that means everyone loves Nana's. Which means that, on a very rainy weekend early afternoon, we ended up waiting quite a long time to order and then to get our food but ... I suppose it was worth it (this is high praise coming from someone who almost never believes waiting in a long line is actually worth it). My friend and I split the spicy Caesar kale salad as a starter. I cracked up when I saw "massaged kale" as one of the ingredients. But all jokes aside, this was one of the best kale salads with abundant dressing and, in lieu of croutons, breadcrumbs and cashew parmesan. It tasted pretty indulgent and rich but you can certainly fool yourself into thinking it's actually healthy. I got the tomato sandwich plus bacon (so a BLT without the L) and it was pretty good, though I do wish they cut the bread a little thinner so I could pick it up and eat it as a sandwich. As it were, I just used my knife and fork - certainly more civilized. The pizza was also not bad, though I wish there were some more of the toppings - heard it's leagues better than Mystic Pizza. There are a few tables inside but be prepared to wait. When it was peak rush hour, there were two lines inside, one for the bathroom and one to place an order. Even though they were so slammed, the staff couldn't be friendlier. Our waitress in particular came by often to see how we were doing. Parking lot also filled up. We parked in the Mystic train station and then walked over.
