I've done a handful of meal prep services and several "make at home" services and this one is the best I've tried. The meals are all good size, very tasty, and have been delivered on time every time. A good variety of food, all fresh tasting even if I don't get to all the meals in a week, and not bland at all whcih is great for prepped food. I'm using the service mostly for convenience - but if I was using it for weight loss I'd be a little bummed the sauces are NOT included in the nutritional content. While their website is a little wonky (for example there is no log in button except the very bottom "footer" area, and the account page isn't the most user friendly) they make up for it with text based customer service. Which is pretty awesome, convenient, and reliable. I just text any requests or questions and get an answer back very quickly. Meal Prep Sunday sucks. I was SO EXCITED to start using them after they came highly recommended, so I cancelled my other service to try them out. I ordered my food over the weekend and was sent confirmation that all my meals for the week were going to be delivered Monday evening. Monday evening rolls around and as I'm literally waiting for my dinner to be delivered, I get a text that "due to high demand" they've run out of food and they wouldn't be delivering my meals for the entire week. No offer of doing a single thing to make up for their mistake, no offer to even refund this week, just a statement that they'd apply what I had already paid them to meals for next week. Who the heck is supposed to feed me this week?! @MealPrepSunday do you realize people actually rely on meal prep services and are willing to pay a premium because they want healthy convenient choices for their busy lives, and that cancelling with literally NO NOTICE AND NO APOLOGY for a mission critical life sustaining service is completely unacceptable?! I called and wasn't offered any compensation at all. Instead I was given excuses. An excuse is an illegitimate reason for dereliction of duty. I'm really bummed and I'm really hungry. The person I spoke to made it sound that this is something that happens regularly saying that "when this happens our customers usually don't want a refund, they just want credit for the future." In what universe is it acceptable to just not show up with people food for the week? My advice-- if you don't care, whether or not your food shows up, give them a shot. Maybe they make good meals. The food is amazing. I purchased due to a great sale, quick and easy checkoit, was able to select my meals, and was delivered right on time. Ive eaten the shredded beef and beef&broccoli thus far and they were both great! I'm not a huge sauce or dip person so its nice they come in little cups so I can choose to use it or not. read more

The food is pretty good most of the time. The only thing I never liked was the steak. Its always well done. I rather not have it at all. Its chewy and rubbery. Its also kinda annoying that they never tell you the macros of the sauces or sides that come with the meal. Or even what they are or how they want you to use them. Cook it with the food? Use it with the food after its cooked? Who knows! I tried the "lean" plan and the "bulk" plan and as far as I can tell they just send you the exact same meals. The average calories and macros are exactly the same. So just know that when you see those 2 options, its actually just 1 option, the "lean" plan. As the macros for the meals are much more in line for leaning out then bulking. But the main reason for the 2 star review is their inability to cancel or even delay a shipment after Wednesday. Thursday morning I find out I need to fly out for a couple weeks so I need to skip a week or 2. Nope, apparently its too late. But if you "Place your order by Thursday before 6:00 pm" then you are good to go for getting your meals that same sunday. So you are more than willing to take new peoples money in order to get them the meals as soon as possible. Current customers need to suspend or delay their order? Out in the cold. UPDATE RESPONSE: The reason why I didn't mention the offer for address change or date change is because you denied them both. I asked it be delivered to Chile where I would be staying for the next few weeks. I was denied. Having the delivery pushed back until I got back, also got denied. So yes, you did make the offer, but you denied them. Its not like you made the offer and I said no. As I mentioned to the person I was talking to. I live alone, all my friends and family are in the LA area. And I have no co-workers because Im self-employeed and work from home exclusively. I noticed you didn't address the main complaint though. How does it make sense that people can make new orders up to thursday night and get the shipment that sunday but you cant cancel or postpone a order until that time? As for your meal plans, you say they are different but you didn't actually say exactly how they are different? You gave numbers for the sauces, why not give the numbers for the meal plans? Im just going based off the meals you guys have sent me on both plans. If they are supposed to be different, thats at least not what I have been getting. A military discount was offered however it was never applied. It was applied to the order then the order was cancelled it was applied to the following order as well but I have yet to received it. (Still paid full price) The website needs major updates. If you want to skip a week they make it nearly impossible. The communication between employees is lacking. I've tried other meal prep services, and Meal Prep Sunday San Diego is THE BEST by far!! I'm so glad I discovered them. I'm a big breakfast person and their breakfasts do not disappoint. My personal favorite is the keto almond flour breakfast sandwich (pictured) They also have healthy cheesecakes that are divine. Some of my other favorites include the pineapple chicken with bbq sauce and the pork loin with cranberries and brussel sprouts (pictured) They also have a salmon version as well! I visited my family and had them try a couple of their meals because I could not stop talking about how good the meals were. Well, they are now Meal Prep Sunday San Diego customers too. Aside from the meals, they have great customer service, their delivery drivers very nice as well. If I had one critique, it would be for them to revamp their website. I sometimes have problems changing my meal plan from time-to-time if I want to go from 15 meals to 10 meals, but I message them and they are more than accommodating. Maybe it's my browser? Two suggestions would be: 1) for them to add another option of 10 meals (5 breakfasts and 5 lunches/dinners) rather than the 10 meals (10 lunches and dinners) if you didn't want to order all 15. 2) If they had some sort of a-la-carte option on their website for that week if you wanted to order multiple of a meal that they are offering. But, honestly, I feel like I'm eating at a restaurant when I have one of their meals. They are that good AND healthy! All their sauces are amazing by the way. read more

I have been doing this meal prep program for four weeks now and highly recommend!! I have lost a total of 10 pounds just by clean eating. I have a shoulder issue at the moment, so other than 45min walks that is all the exercise I do. I originally joined factor, but after two weeks decided to try something else. I found MPS on Facebook and read about the program. I was excited at having breakfast as part of the routine as I never ate breakfast and then would purchase fast food or too many calorie Mexican food. The other issue with factor was it was shipped in a cardboard box with the ice packs from wherever and I had to do the recycling. MPS picks up the bag and ice packs each week when they drop off. Having a company be local is a plus. I'm not sure where people who have posted poor reviews about this company are coming from, but my experience has been top notch. The food is amazingly great, I have not had anything I didn't like yet. If there are tastes that you don't like, then they will adjust for you. I'm on the weight loss program so I get three meals for M-F, 15 in total about 1500 calories per day. Expect chicken, beef, sausage, pork, and fish as regular staples with lots of veggies and a small portion of carbs. Meals are packed in small sealed containers and are good for about 7 days. I microwave all of them. My method is to pull all the plastic off, dump the sauce on top. Microwave at level 8 for 2:30-3:00. I have a plastic plate topper from IKEA that steams everything nicely and keeps splatter off the sides. Boiled eggs are the only item I take out before microwaving, just drop the time by :30 and when done, put eggs back and do the :30. I personally think the price is fair and I think I have saved not just time but money too. I definitely can't make a different breakfast every morning and not waste or overeat!! I think $12 is the average for 15 meals per week. I would easily spend $15-20 for lunch and always overeat. Dinner cost a lot to make one good size meal or eating out is so much more. I have tried a lot of different meal programs and never have I ever experienced a late order and such unprofessional service before in my life. I didn't receive any notification my meals were coming. I reached out to the hotline and couldn't receive any updates on my package. No one from the company could give me an update on my meal status and that quite frankly is unacceptable! I am a working professional with a hectic and intense job. I do not have time to have my meal company miss a delivery of my food for the week. I didn't go to the grocery store this weekend because I was expecting the delivery of my meals from this service, but it never came. So now, I don't have any food for the entire week! I almost left a one star review because the customer service was so incredibly bad and unwilling to admit their mistake and apologize. The food was decent I would have probably continued with the service, but just like the other negative reviews they messed up my order. I went from the 10 plan to 15 because my girlfriend who's a pescatarian decided to give them a try. They sent me one seafood dish when I selected 5 for her. I reached out to customer service and they said I hadn't selected my meals. Bullshit I didn't select my meals, the previous week I had no issue but sure enough week 2 they try and blame it on me. There was no apology and after they would respond on their "issue resolution center" they would resolve the ticket before I could even respond. Horrible company and not worth dealing with their lack of empathy. Gave Meal Prep San Diego a try because my neighbor gets them delivered and I've been hooked ever since! For years I've been meal prepping my own food (which takes me hours!!) and I am not a fan of looking up recipes, shopping, and cooking. I don't enjoy it, no matter how much I try. Health is very important to me, so I appreciate that this company uses clean ingredients and asks what your nutritional goals are. The food is DELICIOUS!! Much much better than what I make for myself. I know that some would argue that it's probably more "cost effective" to grocery shop- but I like the variety this offers me. I am a single person, so whenever I buy ingredients to make a meal, I end up eating it for days. It's convenient and nice to not worry about what's for dinner or lunch, I just pull out a carton and heat it up. They also freeze well. Would highly recommend! read more

This company is only good for the first week. Two stars. After that their food and services start to go down hill. They stop putting lids on their sauce containers and it gets spilled into the meal if that sauce is thin and it's nasty if it's the cheap salty marinade. You can "select" your meal, but that doesn't mean that those are the meals you're going to get. And I have suspicion that a few of the meals I received were from the week prior. I think this place is great! I was recommended by a buddy because the macros are solid. I got a bit chunky while I starting to work my new office job & new I needed a change. The calculator sent me to lean bulk I believe, which is exactly what I wanted was to hit my protien goals each day while being in somewhat of a calorie deficit. They hit the nail in head! I'm averaging about 1300-1600 calories per day (based on what meals I choose that day) always hitting about 150 G/ protein per day. They stay changing up the food and the quality is great! It's not frozen or watery after you throw it in the microwave and they give you just the right amount of sauce. I'm a saucy guy so this helps! The protein was found to be over-reported by approximately 15-20% higher than indicated. The fat content seems high but could be indicative of using poor/low cost cuts of meat and or oils in the preparation/sauces with high fat content. Carbs seem fairly accurate.
