I came here on a Sunday morning with 2 friends, the guy at the register was very polite and helpful but I can't say the same for the rest of the staff. They all seemed annoyed that we were ordering both drinks and food. There were only a few people in the shop when we arrived and they all had their drinks so we figured it wouldn't be too long before we at least had our coffees. However it was about 25 minutes before we received them, the food came out about 10 minutes after, and the staff was confused as to whether the order was ours or another customer. I ordered a sausage egg and cheese breakfast sandwich on a crossaint. I also ordered the cheerwine frappe. The sandwich was hot and yummy, it was really good! There are a couple different cafe/coffee shop near downtown, they all have different vibe, and each of their own. Mean Mug kinda artsy. Food choices are limited compared to Koco or Tia. We walked in and were able to go right to the counter to order. I ordered a latte and couldn't decide what flavor, so told the barista to pick 2 flavors and surprise me. She did not disappoint, and I had a delicious butter cookie latte! Husband ordered the orange Creamsicle smoothie and said it was delicious ( I did steal a sip to make sure, and it was fantastic!) They feature local art on the walls and have some fun t-shirts and things for sale. No seating outside but tables and chairs inside if you want tomsit and sip. Came here because I saw they had a lot of different options for hot drinks, including a golden latte and matcha but I left with no lasting impression. Honestly my golden latte had no resemblance of being a golden latte, it tasted like plain coffee with cream. I was already on my way towards town before I tasted it so I didn't bother going back. It looked like what I order but tasted so disappointing. I was legit sad. The customer service was non existent. This coffee shop is a great fixture in our community. I love how it is convenient to walk to from my house. It is locally owned by minorities which just makes me want to support them even more. They provide delicious fair trade coffee and their frappes are so good they might be addictive so be careful. Their wine changes consistently but it is always on point. I have gotten try a nice variety of tasty wines since I have started coming here. They do offer wine tastings although I have heard that some are better than others as some of the host can be a little stingy with their wine samples. The food that I have tried there is tasty and satisfactory although I wouldn't intentionally venture here specifically for their food. Today when I came in they only had one poor girl working the entire restaurant by herself. I don't think it was very fair to her that she not only had to make my complicated drink order but she also had to prepare my food. While also doing the same for the other 10 people in the restaurant all while the credit card machine was not working. With what seems like a complete nightmare situation she truly handled herself with poise and professionalism. Way to go! I am definetly more into coming here for their tasty beverages and awesome local live music. If you want to try THE BEST CHAI LATTE then look no further. I live in Miami, Florida but travel to Lexington frequently and almost every time I visit, I have to visit Mean Mug. There was only one person making the drinks and taking orders so it took awhile to place my order and then receive the smoothie. The large was too big!
