My selection was their Sandy Beach, another popular choice that seemed appropriately named for being on Siesta Key. These doughnuts are different, described as their Famous Layered Doughnuts, they are similar to a croissant in construction, very sweet like a frosted doughnut. Wonderful texture, super indulgent for me, and went great with a cup of their coffee. The Sandy Beach, described as like a cinnamon roll, did have a hint of cinnamon. But what I really noticed, besides the doughnut itself bring great, was the gooey white frosting on top and seemingly all over. The French Toast was similar, with a maple flavored frosting. Parlor is a small place, mainly a takeout spot, no seating inside but they do have a couple of small tables outside. In addition to a large selection of sweet doughnuts, they also offer savory ones, and a variety of coffee and other drinks. The person helping me was nice.

So I finally took my raving daughter to try the mini donuts on the key... They might be "fresh" (as in they burnt my child - NO WARNING - a lawsuit waiting to happen!) but watching the dough fry in that dirty black oil that OUGHT to be CLEAR made them about as unappealing as it gets. I asked what kind of oil it was and how often they changed it - the girl said that she didn't know and didn't bother to find out... She didn't waste any time putting the donuts directly from the frier into the bag so that even the mounds of sugar she threw on top before handing me the scalding bag still did not absorb the oil gathered in the bottom of the bag - making the donuts mooshy and squished. The delicious looking strawberry cream cheese donuts were made with cream cheese that came out of a huge bag??? I don't understand how cream cheese can sit out in Florida weather unrefrigerated all day... The "freshly squeezed" lemonade is DISGUSTING. The worst I've ever had: tinted GREEN, obviously from concentrate, premade, sitting in a container right in front of the menu. In my opinion just about the worst drink you could offer with sugary donuts. After the awful lemonade my daughter asked for a cup of water instead to which she was told she could buy a bottle of water. From donuts, to soft serve ice cream, to lemonade, and hotdogs? It's clear the owners are only interested in selling cheap products at island prices to make profit off of tourists. AKA NOT a locals' spot. read more

People, as you approach this grease-spot, ask yourself, " am I worthless?" How much sugar and syrupy glaze does it take to make vile greaseballs tasty? This place REEKS of rancid oil, and if the smell doesn't turn you off to the place, take a look at the customers. This is not being elitist.....this foul little eyesore isn't making anything "fresh" or delectable, it's profiting from sickly, disgusting habits of people who can't help themselves,-- who will throw anything in their mouths for a fix of fat, grease, and sugar. "...the best donuts ever,".....? "...melt-in-you-mouth devine,"....? You know these review sites are a complete fraud. The mini donuts were absolutely delicious, fresh, and warm, making for a perfect snack by the ocean. Total waste of money: you pay almost $4 for 6 quarter-sized glazed doughnuts that were gone in 2 minutes. I could have went to Krispy Kreme and bought a dozen hot and ready regular sized doughnuts for that price. I mean how much does a couple ounces of dough and a spoonful of glaze cost anyway? Service was good, the person may not have been a bubbling over with joy individual but interacted very well with me and other customers that came in later while I sat at one of their tables enjoying my food. Yes, there was a 4% service charge, probably credit card related, that was not disclosed anywhere except maybe on the payment screen. Normally I would rant about that and even take away a star, but looking at my receipt it only cost me 18 cents so I'm not going to care very much this time.
