Order the potato salad! It is soooo good! Everyone in my group ordered different sandwiches and everyone loved them. I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. One thing I learned while here is that the owner owns Beer, which is next door. Order your sandwich and they will bring it to you next door where there are endless options for beers and ciders. I wasn't too thrilled to go to Meat Cheese Bread when I was first dragged here... I'd never heard of it and there were plenty of other breakfast spots I was dying to try. After one bite of the breakfast burrito I instantly felt guilty that I ever thought negatively of this little sandwich shop. I'm not sure if it's the green chili or what but definitely delicious. I also had the pleasure of tasting my bfs blue cheese steak sandwich which momentarily made me question my previous claim to hating blue cheese. And to top it all off... I mean, its fine. Had the hot pork sandwich that comes with collard greens and such, the cold turkey sandwich, pasta salad, and soup of the day which was ham vegetable. The soup was probably the saltiest soup I've ever had. And I'm Korean which means my daily diet usually involves some super salty, MSG-laden soup. This cup of soup was saltier than all that. Couldn't eat it. Whatever, we came for the sandwiches not the soup. Pasta salad, really nice but, again, we came for the sandwiches right? Pork collard green sandwich was a hot mess. Definitely a knife and fork operation. The bottom piece ciabatta or whatever was pretty much just goop. Good flavors though. Always a fan of collard greens. Turkey sandwich was lettuce mayo bacon and probably some other things on sourdough. Unremarkable. I mean, fine. But yakno. It was whatevs. I will say that even though I sat outside, during the 5 minutes it took for me to place my order my entire being was saturated in the smell of bacon. It was overwhelming, personally. I get the ham and egg sammy with smoked gruyere and my man gets the steak and egg with blue cheese. Mediocre sandwiches at a fairly steep price. I can't speak to the ambiance cause I got my sandwich to go and ate it an hour later in the woods. The bread was weak tasting sliced sourdough that fell apart, had holes in it and couldn't contain the filling at all. The inside was Turkey (a healthy portion, and tasted fine) some sad looking pieces of bacon (two pieces maybe, not enough to add any flavor or complexity to the sandwich), some home made spread with raw egg (that was overwhelmed by other forces, and probably has made me a little ill), cheese that I didn't even realize was there until my last bite, and a little bit of garnish. This is easily a sandwich I could make at home and I am not very skilled in the kitchen. The sandwich also isn't that big, it is becoming a reality that places that tout their quality ingredients don't want to give you that much of their supposed quality. The only part of their name that I actually thought was okay was the Meat, both the bread and cheese were pretty epic fails, especially since I paid 8 dollars for them. I will not be returning as my 8 dollars will go much further at other sandwich spots that will serve me larger servings of better tasting fare. I had the turkey sandwich and the hubby had something from the breakfast menu. I haven't had a decent sandwich since I left California a year ago. This sandwich made me remember the sandwiches I missed so dearly. It was simple but tasted SO good. The bread was squishy and fresh, the meat was so flavorful and not processed meat. Picked up sandwiches for our day of hiking. Hubby got the Park Kitchen (roast beef) and I got a BLT. Hubby loved his sandwich because of the rich flavor of the meat and the bleu cheese. I thought my bacon was very high quality with a nice smoky flavor and I liked that my sandwich was on sourdough which lent a nice tang to my sandwich. My husband, not on a diet, ordered the pork belly bolognese "sloppy joe". I tasted a bite of his (very tasty), but I can honestly say that I LOVED my mushroom sandwich. So, my boyfriend and I finally made it here today to try their sandwiches. I've heard nothing but great things and was craving a nice sandwich and we've been to Bunk, but wanted to try something new and maybe a smidge healthier. I ordered the grilled mushroom on a bun and my man got the BLB, bacon beets and lettuce. We got a peanut butter chocolate chip cookie to split. And, two iced teas (which were a little small, but tasty). We were there for the sandwiches, so I'll try to stick to it! Tom said on our way there, "the only thing about getting sandwiches is that you can make them at home and really good." I love mushrooms and adding goat cheese was very tasty. The sherry vinagrette onions added a nice flavor too, my sandwich was huge. The BLB was a major hit with my bfriend. He LOVED it, especially the bacon, but he loved the heirloom beets as well. I got to sample a bite and though I don't eat a ton of bacon thought they did a nice job. I said, "we couldn't have made these at home." At least not without it taking me at least an hours, beets take a while! Tom agreed and we were very happy with our choice. Cons are that the place is a little small, but it didn't seem to be a huge problem, we got a table right away and most others did too. That's it, hope you try it!
