We were greeted with friendly customer service right from the start and didn't have to wait long to get our order in and for our food to come out. I ordered the Big Dom and that sandwich is packed with flavor! Fresh bread, thin sliced lunch meat, and crisp yellow peppers all backed by an incredible cherry pepper relish that was out of this world! I seriously need to get the relish just to have with crackers, it was so damn good! We also each got some homemade lemonade and it was so refreshing on what was a warm day! Majorly sad they switched out the bread. They used to be the best sandwich worth traveling for when they used the sesame hoagie roll. They switched to something else that just isn't as good. Three visits in four days.....enough said. Went Thursday for the Rachel. They were sold out (thankfully)! It made me opt for door 2. Which, ended up being the PCT and the Dom. PCT - easily my new fav sando. Light, feel good, turkey and cucumbers....how can you go wrong? Felt magnificent after vs carbed up. Hubby and I kept stealing bites until suddenly it disappeared. The Dom - if Italians are your groove, this is your jam. It's filling and satisfying but a LOT. But, I'm also not that into Italian sando's. Came back Friday for the Rachel and they were out so we were too. Sunday returned for our last chance and scored!!!!! Snagging the last two Rachels, we were stoked! They delivered. I only had 72 hours to eat my way through Portland, this trip. Walter French's was on the top of my list for lunch spots to try, and I am so glad I made the trip (even in the rain)! Located in a super cute food truck court with a nice seating area (gas fire table and canopy for the cold rainy days). The staff were super engaging and gave excellent suggestions! The sandwiches were both original and delicious! I had the Gobbler, a sandwich with a Thanksgiving nod, Turkey, bacon, Cheddar, cranberry sauce, on a sesame hoagie. Easily one of my new favorite sandwiches. All of the ingredients were so fresh and melded perfectly together. Will be trying to recreate this with leftover Thanksgiving turkey and cranberry sauce! Not one to miss anything, I also tried the Big Dom, salami, capicola, ham, provolone with cherry pepper relish, red wine vinaigrette. Messy and delicious! Order: The Big Dom $15 Pros: This is my 3rd time trying to try them and finally was able to do so. The first time they ran out of what I wanted, the second time the wait was over an hour, and this time I was first in line ha ha!!! The sandwich was good! There was a slight sweetness that paired well with the vinaigrette and the saltiness of the sandwich. The bread was moist (eyes lol) and the sandwich was not dry. The bread was also soft. Gota give it to them the sandwich is good. Cons: took some time for them to open so was out waiting in the rain on my lunch break. It looked like they were setting up a few minutes before 12. I wanted the Big Dance, which is what I had a taste for but it is being discontinued due to avocado being too expensive. Even being first in line, the wait was 15-20 mins. SO YUM!!! Stopped by because I was wanting something fresh-like a good ol sandwich and found this spot just three minutes away from where I was. I am so glad I did. We ordered the daily special sandwich.. don't remember the exact name but it had turkey, bacon, chipotle sauce, avocado spread and fresh veggies on ciabatta bread. My only complaint is that most of their other options just seem like slight variations of the same sandwich. Hands down one of the elite sandwich shops in PDX. Same level as Pasture, but definitely rocking their own style. I and a friend have a bi-weekly lunch meetup where we seek out great sandwiches. Generally I order whatever is closest to an Italian grinder as my benchmark. But these folks had not one, but two epic Italian sandwiches The Dom - closer to your classic Italian but the cherry pepper relish, vinny levels, are all very on point. Elite execution. Mama Fratelli - at first I was skeptical of hot honey(sugar hacks), but it was just the right levels to make all the ingredients blend together in a unique way. The big slices of fresh mozzarella, and pesto aioli, along with all the high quality meats made for the perfect sandwich. This was probably favorite of the two. The sandwiches are also very ergonomic(this matters!). Easy to hold, everything stays in place as you eat, even though the filling portions are generous and saucy. All on Dos Hermanos bread that was soft, just thick enough to soak up all the juices without falling apart, and doesn't dominate the flavor of the sandwich. Amazing home made lemonades as well, served up by some friendly folks. They just changed locations but I predict long lines and wait times soon here. Get in! read more

I could leave 4 stars if I were a jerk who complains about a long wait - but I'm not, and I won't! They'd hit a fever pitch on social media and so I thought "Perfect time to try them!" They sold out in 30 minutes and we were the lucky last ones! Waited about an hour and 15 BUT sandwich was great! Soft bread, stuffed full. My only complaint is I like a bit more sauce - as that's a personal preference I give no dings here. 8/10 and the staff was awesome! read more
