My new addiction of the year! In just 10 days, we've been here three times, and honestly, I'd go back again tomorrow. Our realtor was the one who told us about this place. As someone who doesn't usually like smoked meat, I wasn't sure I even wanted to try it. But I figured, why not? Sometimes it's good to try something new. I have to admit, if I've had a bad experience with a particular food, I usually avoid anything similar forever. But for some reason, it felt like the universe was telling me to give this place a chance--and I'm so glad I did. The moment I walked in, I was amazed by the smell. We were seated right away, and the staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and very careful with my celiac disease and gluten-free needs, which I truly appreciated. The first time, my husband and I both ordered the lamb neck. It was, without a doubt, some of the best meat I've ever had. It was so tender, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. The smoky flavor was perfectly balanced--not overpowering, but just enough to make every bite memorable. The second visit, we ordered the lamb neck again, along with the lamb shank and chicken leg. My husband loved the chicken leg. Personally, I'm not a big chicken fan, so it wasn't my favorite and I don't think my opinion should count as a fair review of that dish. The lamb, however, was outstanding once again. By our third visit, we had to keep exploring the menu, so we ordered the lamb neck, lamb ribs, and beef ribs. The lamb ribs weren't my personal favorite simply because there wasn't much meat on them--but that's lamb ribs for you, not a fault of the restaurant. The flavor was still excellent. The beef ribs were also delicious and cooked beautifully. And let's talk about dessert. Their crème brûlée is so, so, so good. It immediately reminded me of the incredible crème brûlée I had in Paris years ago. One bite and I was transported right back there. Three visits in ten days probably tells you everything you need to know. This place has officially become one of my favorite restaurants, and I can already see visit number four happening very soon. read more

Had a horrible time dining here - I came with a large group of around 12 people to celebrate a birthday and the whole experience was very disappointing. We had originally made a reservation in which we were informed that the tables would be arranged in a manner where we could all see each other, but when we arrived the table arrangement was just a huge long table of 6 people on each side. After some discussion with the staff they rearranged the tables but the whole arrangement was very awkward with 2 people sitting in the middle and the rest of us surrounding them. We ended up rearranging the seats by ourselves. Service was also terrible - it took a long time for anyone to come take our order, and it also took FOREVER to flag anyone to get the check. It seemed like all the staff had disappeared at one point. Some of our party also ordered drinks, and the drinks literally came out at the end of our meal when we were already done eating. The only redeeming part of the meal was the actual food, where some of the meats were pretty yummy. We ordered around 5-6 different meats, and the first one or two were pretty good, but then the remaining ones which came out were quite dry. The way the meat comes out on a platter is intriguing but also makes it hard to share especially with a large party, as the platter has to be passed back and forth between people. 4 of us, two couples, met at Meat Moot for dinner. We were all looking forward to some Middle East barbecue and unlimited sides and salads. The ambiance is much like a cafeteria; large room with bright lights with smokers and meat servers along one wall. Definitely not romantic or elegant. We ordered a half pound of beef ribs and a half pound of brisket, they ordered a pound of brisket. The beef ribs were the best choice, they were smoked perfectly and had a nice bark. The brisket was disappointing, more like wet chopped meat than brisket. They were sold out of lamb unfortunately. As we were being seated, we were served some tiny "2 tablespoon size" sides, and 2 half cup servings of salad for the 4 of us. I wasn't able to taste the salads as they were eaten before I sat down as there was an expectation of an unlimited amount. Our water glasses all were empty quickly and never refilled. After finishing our meal, we waited awhile longer for our check. Still no server in sight, we gave up and went to the front counter to pay. The managers first question was "who was your server"? We didn't know as we didn't receive any service during our meal. He finally figured it out and we were able to pay and leave. Then went to Daniel's Broiler for a glass of wine(Meat Moot does not serve alcohol) and dessert (never saw our waiter so I'm not sure if Meat Moot even serves dessert). I wish I had read the reviews prior to visiting. We would not have dined here, and will not be returning. read more

It wa a good experience! I'm not so sure why there's so many negative reviews but this place was honestly a great spot. If you aren't looking for a different experience for a restaurant, this is the place to go. It almost gives a Fogo de Chão type vibe but instead you pay for your meat by the pound. and my partner and I had the 1.5 lbs lamb shank and it came out piping hot. The sides were great. I'm not sure if they were bottomless, but we did show up an hour before closing. They is still very accommodating. I will say some of the comments are right when the rice doesn't come out piping hot, but I don't know if that's maybe their style of serving the rice or if it's because we came during the end of the day. I was eager to try this new place out and glad I did. I went during lunchtime during the holiday, so it was on the quieter side. During this time, only four cuts were available: lamb neck, lamb shank, beef brisket and beef ribs. I ordered all but the lamb neck. Staff was friendly and helpful. The person managing the smoked meats gave good recommendations on type of meat and portions - we ordered just the right amount for two people and had some leftovers too. All of the meat was tender, juicy and flavorful- my favorite was the beef ribs, to me, it had a good mix of meat and fat. As other reviewers mentioned, garnishes rice, salad, sides, sauces and beverages (excluding mocktails) are included in the price. We had 3 salads (green salad, corn salad and tabbouleh) and 7 sauces (mushroom, chimichurri, hot sauce, honey, honey mustard ,bbq and the white sauce). We also got the mashed potatoes but it was served in the small sauce dish. For desert, we tried the kunafa and it had the right amount of sweetness to end the meal. Reading other reviews, it's definitely a mixed bag! I think my experience was on the more positive side because of the time day I went and when. Overall, I enjoyed the food and experience. Some some details I appreciated - they had small disposal towels (they weren't your regular wet towelettes!) to wipe your hands which is nice little touch. Also, the chairs are SUPER comfy! It was alright; I think we will give it another shot, but earlier in the evening (when hopefully half of the lamb items are NOT sold out already...). Our reservation was for 8 pm. As others have noted, the service style is somewhat fast-casual in nature: you order your meats by the pound from the front/at the chef's counter, where they weigh your choices and then reheat them with added seasoning (the honey on the lamb is a definite must). Then you are shown to a table, where you get your sides/drinks (all included in the price of the meal). I was underwhelmed by the brisket (dry, tasteless); the lamb neck and the lamb shanks were tasty. I would only order lamb next time. The rice was not hot, temperature-wise; the side salads were okay, although a bit on the skimpy side (yes, it's unlimited on the servings, but each bowl has a scant handful of salad inside). The service was very friendly, but super ineffecient. We had to request water refills 3-4 times before actually receiving them. This is partially due to the fact that there are 1-2 servers, and everyone else on the floor is... well. I'm not really sure what their roles were, but they did not engage with customers directly? Some occasionally cleared tables. Odd. I would enjoy more attentive care as a diner (versus the theatrics of firing flame throwers periodically in the kitchen area). read more

Food was good. Very friendly staff. Nice and quiet as we went for lunch. Ordered the lunch special - brisket. Slight misunderstanding when server thought it was for both, although BF had clearly said Lamb special and I said brisket special. Another misunderstanding when we asked asked about sparkling water and heard it was included like soft drinks - we were charged but it was taken off after talking to the server. Their meats are available by the pound but some cuts are available even if you want less than a pound. You go ask the chefs which type do you want and they will season it according to whatever you like. All the accompaniments like salads, sauces are unlimited. Meat Moot is a smoked meat restaurant that recently opened a location in Seattle. I stopped by for lunch a little after 12pm on a Thursday. The space is bright and spacious, with plenty of natural light. Their website advertised a lunch special from Monday to Friday, 12-3pm, but when I asked, I was told it wasn't available. I still went ahead and ordered from the regular menu. Meat is priced by the pound and comes with unlimited sauces and beverages, plus salad, sides, and garnish. I tried the beef brisket and lamb shank. Both were dry and under-seasoned, so the sauces were essential for flavor. The staff were friendly, but cleanliness could use improvement. One of the cups was dirty and had to be replaced. When my plate was being set down, a tomato fell onto the table, and instead of wiping it off or replacing it, the waiter put it back on the plate. Parking is validated in the attached structure, but the machine couldn't read my ticket on the way out, causing a long line until security came to open the gate. While waiting, another driver mentioned this has happened before, though this is obviously out of the restaurant's control. read more

Beef brisket not good very dry! Beef ribs are good not worth $75 for the pound maybe if the service was better. The service is absolutely horrible for what you are paying for. The manager or should I say glorified hostess who wears the same gray suit every time I came there, blond unwashed hair needs to go if you want to save this business the servers can only be as good as the manager and he is one of the worst I have dealt with, acts like he owns the place! I've been a couple times and he is not accommodating or nice at all. Came in at 4:30 on Sunday and he said he doesn't know if they have any more meat for not having a reservation we were waiting for him 15 min at the host stand for him to tell us the news! I wanted to really like this restaurant but when we went in for lunch ... they didn't have any meat apparently because they had an issue with their supplier. We were told they did have lamb and could make a burger and, as they had a variety of other items on their menu, we decided to gave it a shot. So I tried to order a lamb kabab wrap....but they didn;t have "that kind of lamb" (no idea what that means). The burgers were, according to my companions,, tastey. However, the hummus was medicore and really not what I was expecting of a high end restaurant. The green salad was humorously small. The macaroni and cheese was actively inedible as it had clearly been sitting in a warmer for what we could only assume was several days. We ordered beverages which were forgotten about until end of the meal and were, thanfgully comped but we weren;t offered much else in compensation. All the social media hype really had me wanting to try this place. It was quite the experience. Right off the bat you pick your meat on the menu (which is priced per pound), it gets dressed up and seasoned right in front of you. Take a video of their showmanship which is intentional, I'm sure. Then you and your tray of meat are shown to your table where all the included sides are waiting for you. I'd recommend trying a little bit of everything. But the beef brisket and beef ribs were by far our favorite. Only downfall was that this place does not serve any alcoholic beverages. Service was decent. It seemed to take our server a while for any refills of sides and had to remind them a few times. The ambiance is definitely modern upscale and bright lights with high ceilings. The sound level seemed moderate and music was playing in the background. Definitely a vibe for a fun time out with friends or partner. I like the concept of this restaurant. There are many meat lockers filled with beef and lamb. They offer 4 cuts of each type of meat. We only tried the beef. We got shank, brisket and ribs. I have to say I thought the ribs were the best. The brisket was too lean and it was dry. To be fair the meat all tasted the same. They were all seasoned the same. The entree comes w many little dipping sauces, rice, and some veggie sides for the entire table. You can get as much of these things as you like. The restaurant has a pretty and open interior. Sadly, Meat Moot was a total disappointment. We arrived on time for our 6:30pm reservation on Christmas Eve but still had to wait in line for over 30 minutes! This is because they don't offer the usual table service. It's more Chipotle-style where everyone queues up (regardless of reservation) and makes their way down a counter where the employees cut and weigh different kinds of meat in front of the customers. There were several people working behind the counter, but it still took forever for us to get served and then get seated. Another ding for Meat Moot was that half of the cuts were not available. Oh, and one type of meat (lamb neck) was only available in four pound increments! For our party of four, we settled for one pound each of beef brisket, beef ribs, and lamb shank. Once we were seated, we waited a long time for the side dishes to come out. At this point, we were starving but it was difficult to eat just meat, especially since it was not very well seasoned. The meat isn't cooked with any sort of rub or seasoning. They will add salt, pepper, paprika, etc after slicing the meat, but they do it in a weird stylistic way where it might look cool but the seasoning barely lands on the meat. It's all style and no substance. Another problem with Meat Moot is that the sides were really disappointing. The web site mentions five different salads, mashed potatoes, and rice as well as seven different sauces, but in reality we only got rice, four salads and five sauces. We never got any mashed potatoes. The side dishes were also very small, and they didn't bring out multiples of each side. There was one small 4" dish of each salad for four people. (Thankfully, we all got our own portion of rice.) Sure, they offer unlimited refills, but good luck getting the attention of one of the harried servers. They were very understaffed for how busy it was and for the number of tables. Even when we did get someone to come to our table, we did not feel compelled to get refills, because the rice, side dishes, and sauces were just okay-tasting. The meat was also not as tender or smoky as I had hoped for. Honestly, you're better off going to Outsider BBQ for smoked meats. It's also run by a Turk and their beef brisket is the best I have ever had. They spoiled me. Hamdi, next door to Outsider, is another Turkish place that does a good job with meat. Their steaks are so smoky and delicious! Anyway, there are two positive aspects of Meat Moot which are a clean, modern space, and the staff was very nice and friendly. The sides they gave us was confusing as we saw other tables with more and different sides. The service was a bit bad for us when compared to the other tables. We ordered two specials that came out to about $50. The salads were yummy and so was the dipping sauces . The service is perfectly attentive and looks like their uniforms are tailored. Saw a couple of shirts and a hat I'd love to have! The Meat: 10/10 (call ahead to make sure what you want is on the menu. They're always out of something or another) Service/system 2/10 - servers are supposed to circulate sides refills constantly. That didn't happen at all. Whenever we requested something after waiting and being courteous of the server's time he'd forget to bring it! Happened twice :/ he said they're short staffed but we actually waited patiently for him while he finished conversing with other staff. Mash potato comes in a TINY dipping bowl!! I requested a normal size bowl of it. Meat and no mash? Blasphemous! You're seated with your meat but have to wait till the sides come (rice/salad/sauces/yoghourt) and by that time our meat was cold. I rarely leave bad reviews, but our experience at Meat Moot was truly disappointing and upsetting. If I was able to leave a zero star, I would definitely do so. We arrived a little before our reservation time and waited for the rest of our party. Everyone arrived on time. At first, the receptionist explained how ordering normally works, but then told us that since we were a large group, we would skip that process, be seated, and have a waitress come take our order directly. Once seated, everything went downhill. It took a very long time for the waitress to come to our table, which already caused delays. When she finally arrived, she took our full order and even went to the chef to ask for recommendations for our group of 14. After sitting for over an hour, a waiter came back to tell us that they only had two lamb shoulders left -- for a table of 14 people -- and this was after our orders had already been placed. What made this even more confusing is that the waitress had earlier assured us the food wouldn't take long because the meat was already prepared and slow-cooked for 14 hours. During the entire time we were waiting, four different groups arrived after us, yet they were seated and served meat before our table. When we tried to understand what happened, the explanations we received did not make sense and kept changing. This night was especially important to us because we were celebrating my sister's birthday. Instead of enjoying the evening, we sat at the table for over an hour with no food, no clear communication, and no sense of urgency from the staff. To make matters worse, the owner eventually came over and said he would give us the two remaining lamb shoulders "for free." That was honestly insulting. We did not come for free food, we came for the experience and were more than able and willing to pay. Two lamb shoulders for 14 people after wasting over an hour of our time was not a solution. What hurt the most is that we genuinely felt ignored and treated differently. Watching other guests who arrived after us get served while we continued to wait made the situation feel intentional and discriminatory. We left feeling frustrated, embarrassed, and deeply disappointed, especially on what was supposed to be a joyful birthday celebration. I'll go chronological: * Made a reservation on OpenTable, but when I arrived they had no record of it. It was right when they opened, so the place was EMPTY. Surprisingly, the hostess had to think a while before giving my part of 2 a table. I assume they've fixed the OpenTable integration by now? Rating: Weird, but ultimately no problem. * The meat selection was really something special. There was a great variety, and I love how they bring out the meats and weigh it and let you see exactly what you're getting. They also gave a free taste sample! Rating: Awesome. * The meat service was a little odd by my standards. They guy was super nice but he was trying a little too hard with a "salt bea" kind of performance with the seasonings. Personally, I'd drop that. Rating: Both good and "eh". * The seating was straight up weird. Again, I had a table of TWO, but they put us at a table that literally was not big enough for the platters the meat guy just gave us, so they had to put one meat platter on the adjacent table. Again, the place was EMPTY, so this was weird. Rating: Weird. * The overall ambiance was very pleasant. This place is hugely spacious, and all the furnishings have a tasteful premium feel. Rating: Impressive. * Along with the meat, they gave us a BOATload of sauces and salads and stuff. It was all delicious. Rating: Awesome. * The rice was good, but I would have really love some kind of bread/pita option to go with the meal to make sandwiches or whatever. This is a miss, imho. Rating: Bummer. * This place has no alcohol. I get why, but holy sh*t. They are giving up 20% of revenue, and I think this might be the restaurants downfall. Amazing place!!!!! This is a go to place if you are a smoked meat lover!! We made reservations and they were very accommodating to last min changes to our reservation. The staff was so helping in guiding us as it is a very different style of ordering but we had like 3 people come up to us and help us out figuring it out. The place was very busy and I was expecting to not be served well, but our server Anthony was amazing and made sure we were taken care of. The ambiance was amazing as well. Absolutely the worst restaurant experience ever and it was their first day! I made a reservation early in the morning for 7 PM, got ready, planned my whole evening around it, and drove almost an hour to Seattle just to enjoy this new place. Then, a few hours before my reservation, they called to cancel because they "ran out of meat." Seriously? A restaurant that specializes in meat runs out of meat on opening day? When I asked if they were still open, they said yes but apparently only my reservation had to be canceled. That's ridiculous and completely unprofessional. I didn't even bother rebooking for another day, because if this is how they treat customers on day one, imagine how bad it'll be later. No honesty, no reliability, and absolutely no respect for people's time. Don't waste your time or money this place is a joke. read more
