Mecato's is a affordable MetroWest option with tasty empanadas for only $2-3 and a mouth-watering tres leches for just over $5, which is a great deal, especially en esta economia. It's perfect for a delicious, quick lunch in a spacious environment with good parking (even in the MetroWest area).   I had the Mallorca Sandwich ($12), which comes with ham, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and mayo. I was asked "do you want it with powdered sugar on top?" and was like "Why are you even asking me this question right now? OF COURSE I want powdered sugar." This sandwich is delicious, and eating a sandwich with such a sweet bread is not something I would have considered asking for on my own, but it was great.   I also tried one of each type of their empanadas (about $2-3 each): beef, chicken, cheese, and Hawaiian (ham, cheese, and pineapple). All were delicious and very filling for the money.   If you're eating in the MetroWest area, it can be very hard to find parking in the surrounding plazas, and even harder to feel comfortable once you're inside wherever you chose to eat because of how crowded they are (the Brazilian food mart and Pie-fection in the plaza next door with Chase and Tropical Smoothie feel very claustrophobic during lunch), but Mecato's is between McDonald's and Chipotle and had decent parking, even at lunch time. Inside, there was plenty of seating that felt spacious and comfortable.   This is a good spot for a quick lunch in the Valencia College area, and I'll definitely be back! read more

Mecatos Bakery & Cafe has always been a solid spot - no matter the location. So, needless to say, when they placed one in DTO, I was over joyed because that meant they would be walking distance from my job - which meant I could more often. Service is generally pretty quick. They aren't typically super packed either, which is a great thing, which aids in service being pretty quick. The staff is super kind and attentive. There is ample seating indoors and even some outdoor seating. If you are at the DTO location, and want to sit outdoors, there will be no shortage of things to view if you dine out in their outdoor seating area (DTO is always full of characters). As far as the food and beverages go, I can only speak to a few things because I am a creature of habit. I typically get mostly pastries & breakfast items from Mecatos. My go-to order is the cream cheese quesitos and guava & cream cheese quesitos. I usually pair it with a small hot tea or caramel latte. It's quick. It's easy and it is very TASTY - every single time. Their price points are FANTASTIC, so you are not really breaking the bank for something light to-go. If you are dining in for their other entrees, the prices points are still reasonable. This time I ordered a passion fruit mousse and lemon ginger hot tea. This was perfect and the tea felt so good on my dry throat since it's winter. My husband had a piece of dulce de leche cake and Colombian hot chocolate. We both loved our treats. Later on, I took home two each of beef and chicken empanadas which were very filled and tasty. It started with a very very helpful and friendly lady that helped me through the ordering process. I had lots of questions and asked for a whole buncha stuff, and this lady handled it perfectly with a smile and hospitality. And it wasn't just her. As I watched the staff interact with other guests, the same great service was happening consistently! But the star of the show was most certainly the DELICIOUS FOOD! I was looking for a bakery like Porto's in LA. Something local, franchise and non-basic. So we found this little gem, a Colombian bakery. Everyone was friendly and super helpful. I never been to a Colombian anything, so I guess this is my experience. I loved the decor, it was a balance of modern cafe vibes with IG moments. While still maintaining its quaintness. Everything was really good and filling. To get a sample of everything, we got the #9, the highlight was the pandebono, it reminded me of butter mochi! The chicken empanada were good, the beef was a bit dry. I also go the ham n cheese, the bread was kinda hard for my taste. It was like hot pocket. Overall, I wouldn't mind checking it out again! I'm obsessed with Mecatos Bakery! Such an upgrade from the not so great Dunkin Donuts that used to be in this spot! First of all, get the bacon, egg, & cheese croissant breakfast sandwich if it's your first visit. Don't ask any questions, just get it and thank me later!! Then, get their iced mocha including the whip and cinnamon topping. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. While their pastries and cakes are also good, I can tell they are shipped in frozen. Cute cafe. The service is quick and friendly. The place is clean and very neatly decorated. The food is good. We tried the Chorizo with arepa, buñuelos, tropical fruit tart, a slice of coffee flavored cake and some hot chocolate. The top layer of the cake was a bit dried out whilst the bottom layer was moist. The sweetness was well balanced which I really appreciate. It did not taste like diabetes on a plate like some bakeries make them here in the USA. The buñuelos were standard fare as far as flavor but the portions are very generously sized. The fruit tart was good. The chorizo with arepa was a bit of a surprise as we were expecting it to be something like a pig in a blanket but that's our fault because the menu clearly stated what to expect. The hot chocolate was different from what we're used to making at home. It wasn't particularly decadent or rich but had a nice flavor and was on the lighter side while being a tad cinnamon heavy. Overall we liked the food and the experience here. The prices are also pretty reasonable. Will definitely return to try some of the other options on their menu. read more

The service here was friendly and and the ambiance was pleasant enough. I can see that parking could be a challenge if it was a busy rush, but when I was there, it was not too bad. I've visited this place three times now--twice through the drive-thru--and each time has been a great experience. While I haven't had the chance to dine in yet, the staff is always so kind, friendly, and helpful. Everything I've tried so far has been delicious! The bread is incredibly fresh, and the treats are full of flavor. I picked up some of their guava and cheese bread to bring to a friend who just had a baby (because you can't show up empty-handed!), and she loved it--said it was her favorite. Mecatos had been popping up in different locations all over town and I am so glad we finally have our own in Metro West! The place is set up with cute, insta worthy seating areas and cozy couples booths along the windows. If you want a strong cup of coffee, this is certainly the place to get it. They also have plenty of food options. Love the empanadas! Beef is my fave, but the chicken is also really good. Buñueos are so crunchy on the outside and soft of the inside. I started studying in Valencia, and when I found out there is a Mecatos close I got so happy ! Is located 5 minutes driving from the Valencia at South Kirkman. I am Brazilian, so I love all the food that is similar to mine! Monday as I left school I stopped by Mecatos on my way home and I got this arepas ! I love arepas and it was really good! The have a garlic sauce that you can ask on the side! And it was great! I went at 4PM so it wasn't busy and the staff was great! Efficient and fast! I also got a Passion Fruit Smoothie with water, which is my favorite fruit, whenever a place has Passion Fruit it already have another point in my heart! That also made me really happy! Mecatos is for sure one of my favorite coffee shops if I want to sit down and enjoy a good cup of coffee. I always order a medium hot latte and 2 beef empanadas. However, you can get the combo which includes a coffee or a drink and 4 empanadas for about $10-$11 and some change, which is pretty amazing. I have also tried the bacon, egg and cheese on a croissant as well as their chicken and cheese arepa. Sometimes, I might opt in for a Jugo de Parcha instead of coffee, which is also, very delicious. The taste of everything we have ordered in the past and today was on point. Pan de Bono was not hot but when they are, they are delicious. They don't bake anymore if you come say after a certain time, i was told 4:30 pm ish and they close at 8 pm. Desserts looked delicious and are not very heavy in texture and weight. This is a good thing. The service is good but sometimes can be a bit slow if you're in a rush to pick up for office. The combo menu allows a cafe con leche but latte with regular milk is an uncharge ( only at this location versus others) especially if you can't drink the very sweet condensed milk. The several times i have visited, the temperature and strength and amount of the latte has been different depending on who is preparing it. If you like yours really hot then do ask for it and also ask for a full cup especially if you're taking it to go. Not sure why it was 3/4 full couple of times. Ambience is lovely and relaxing. Not too noisy but today was empty so not sure when its full, Music playing in the background. Cleanliness is good as well. The staff are friendly and hospitable. Only thing i did not like was one staff was chewing something ( i am guessing gum ) and took it out of the mouth in the hand while at the register to talk and then put it back in the mouth.
