The place is so cute! I'm so glad I found it. Thank you Yelp! The restaurant is large, bar style seating on the left, abundance of sit-down tables in the middle, actual bar on the right. The ceiling is super cool, looks like chopsticks hanging from the ceiling. Very bright and all the staff are super nice and attentive. I ordered the tonkotsu ramen, I opted out of bean sprouts and bamboo shoots. The waitress asked if I wanted to sub in corn instead. Yes, please! I love corn! It was charred corn, never had it before but was a great touch. I would have to admit that the pork in the ramen was probably the best that I've ever had. Full of flavor, juicy, nice and fatty. Love Mecha but it is unbearably hot inside especially for a place that is known for soup. Not sure if it's an issue with the A/C but told there's nothing that can be done about it. Mecha is a very trendy, hip spot to get delicious food. I have gone to Mecha a couple of times and it took me a while to find something I really liked off the menu. I ordered ramen before and it was good, nothing insanely special to me. I am not a huge soup person so the next time I ordered cold beef noodles and I really enjoyed that. It delicious and I love that fish sauce that you mix in with it. My party and I also ordered chicken and beef baos for appetizers which were so yummy. The downside of Mecha is that every time I have went there, there is a wait. It partly has to do with how small the place is. Also, you feel very cramped when you are in there since seating is so packed together. You can get individual tables or a huge bench that can be shared with other parties. There is really no where to put your jacket or purse if your on the benches. I think there were some hooks but it wasn't place high enough so your jacket wouldn't drag on the ground. It was uncomfortable with no back support and holding your stuff on your lap since there wasn't even any room to put it next to you. I guess that's what trendy means... being uncomfortable. On the plus side, once I found food other than soup that I could enjoy, I did really like it. If your not a huge soup person, then maybe check out the menu before you come. I really like Mecha. Been going here since it was a tiny spot that few knew about. Eating in is great and usually on point. Sadly, take out is another story and that's where I'm basing this review. I've been disappointed before with missing items in my order and I let it slide. This last time, though, is too much. Each ramen order is supposed to come with two slices of charshu. This last order, those two slices in one of the soup orders was pure fat. There's supposed to be a nice balance/ratio of tender meat and fat. We have a great noodle place by where we live in West Hartford, CT. Mecha is doing something right here. Friendly and attentive staff, bar none. The menu is concise and not overwhelming. You can't wrong with anything here. I ordered the Pho Thai and couldn't finish it! I requested some more noodles to put into it for a to go container and they were 100% okay with that. In fact, they often ask if you'd like more noodles with your Pho. I highly recommend including some of the "add ons" they suggest under each of the Pho's. I love Mecha but their takeout service is more than disappointing. They always skimp on the lime and they mix the hoisin and hot sauce together in one container. I'm assuming they're trying to save on containers, but not everyone likes hoisin sauce and not everyone likes hot sauce. I specified the amount of lime I wanted because any time I put "extra lime" they give one wedge. And I asked for only hoisin sauce. Did they accommodate any of my requests? No. And I'm really tired of it. I'm a paying customer, the least they can do is fulfill my request. I mean, they're not blind since they clearly highlighted what I asked for. This ramen place is really good. Had the Tonkotsu and the broth was very tasty. Tried the KFC bao and it was good. The bun was great as always, fresh veggies and I love the sauce spread they use. My favorite is still the pork belly bao. I have tried every Bao here. I would order every single one of them over and over! Th kimchi fried rice has good kick to it and it's very filling. Would def recommend this place and I plan to keep going back. The Pho Bo Vein is so flavorful! The meats are cooked well. One of the best Pho's I've ever had. Def my go-to noodle place! The only down part is I wish they would have a better way on accommodating to-go orders. Since it's a small place and it gets packed, I've ordered to-go several times. Dining in is AMAZING with hands down, the best Pho I've had anywhere in the US. Take out is almost always off, usually missing something or not having enough of something. 4 stars for the food and 2 stars for the service. Let's start with the good stuff - the food. I ordered the tonkatsu ramen and I really enjoyed it. I loved the pieces of the pork and the flavoring of the soup. Onto the service. Our waitress was very rude and pushy. We were waiting on the fourth member of our party before we ordered. About 5 minutes after we sat, she came by and asked if we wanted drinks or appetizers and also when the fourth person of our party was going to get here. She seemed very snappy and annoyed. I understand that the establishment is very busy, but there is no need for that. Our fourth person arrived and she came by asking again if we wanted drinks or appetizers. We politely declined and told her we needed a few more minutes to look at the menu. As we ordered, she asked AGAIN if we wanted drinks or appetizers for the table. Maybe it's just me but it's annoying to be asked the same thing multiple times in a row. When filling our water glasses, she was also sloppy with that. The water splattered everywhere on the table.
