I won a friendly bet with a buddy at work on the Leechburg vs Clairton Game. The loser of the bet had to buy the winner a cup of coffee during the week. I won the bet and was told I would be getting a coffee from Mechanic Coffee in Verona. I got a vanilla hot. It was good and tasted fresh. I enjoyed the coffee, but the sweet taste of winning the bet was even better!

Former Penn Hills resident from the early 90's to early aughts. If you would've told me a place like this would open up in Penn Hills/Verona, I would've told you you were losing your mind. Delicious coffee, solid espresso pulls, and a really vibrant, never ending stream of fun locals and familiar faces coming in throughout the day. I will say that their pastries are a bit meh, which seems to be due to living so far away from a lot of popular bakery routes. But other than that, this is a standout shop and I can't wait to come back.

Not the first time and definitely not the last one! They have a small yet cool storefront, I like it! Got a iced latte with almond milk this time and it was delicious. I think it has a rather sour than bitter type of flavor (don't quote me on this, I'm not an expert by any means ) They also have a fridge of canned nitro cold brew, and they are no joke! It's a little pricy ($5 each I believe), but worth it. Check them out if you love nitro ones as I do ;)

The coffee is really great and an excellent, cool art neighborhood vibe in Verona. Little small for working on a computer for hours unless it's nice outside but excellent space for coffee.

Cutest coffee shop! Everyone in here was so nice and welcoming. We had vanilla lattes that were fabulous. We saw they had several baked goods and burritos . I loved the cute local things you could pick up as well. Definitely will be back.

Cute & modern coffee shop right on the main strip in Verona. Street parking and your typical prices. We had the cold brew and nitro cold brew, about $5.50 each, they were good but a little on the strong side. They do have cans of the nitro you can buy to go as well!

Highly recommend. Great coffee with a cool atmosphere. Service was excellent. Will definitely be back next time I visit.

This place is great! Great equipment, great coffee, and great baristas. One unique thing about this shop is that they sell home brewing equipment which is neat because you are buying from experts who know how to work the equipment. Not a lot of space inside, but a cool shop and nice sidewalk seating outdoors.

    My iced macchiato turned "latte"

I was excited to try this place after working in the area for years and hearing about it. I was thoroughly disappointed. First thing that caught me off guard was the menu seemed basic yet confusing. I was unsure how to order since there was no specific place saying iced or hot options (flavors on a smaller less obvious 8x10 menu) I went with a basic iced macchiato with sugar free caramel which gravely confused the barista. Her response seemed pretentious and made me feel uncomfortable like I did something wrong. She was like "are you looking for like a Starbucks type caramel drink I'm just trying to figure out what you want since macchiato drinks have steamed milk and two shots of espresso?" I was confused why it was difficult to make that iced which is an easy swap for frothed or cold milk...anyways she had to call another lady over who proceeded to tell me "how we do things here are more basic." I ended up with a latte instead which was their suggestion (like I didn't know what I wanted) and I was already embarrassed by this point so I agreed to their suggestions even though I wanted a layered iced macchiato. I literally ordered the 3rd thing on the menu iced it wasn't difficult and I get macchiatos this way everywhere I go; even smaller coffee shops. I felt like I was in an episode of Portlandia and I didn't care for what their "moto" was and their responses made me feel like I was a phony in a business full of coffee purists, what a pretentious type of vibe. Also there was no seating! Three seats all occupied by regulars pounding away on their Mac books, 3 standing tables with no seats, with one women standing up on her Mac book. I'm sorry if all your other clientele are doing sit down activities it might be an indication that people want to sit. I stood there, several months pregnant embarrassed and over heated with no where to put my jacket I stood for about 3 minutes trying to give it a chance but I told my husband I needed to go. I just wanted to have a chat with my husband and relax for 5 minutes but it was so sterile. Also the coffee was so incredibly bitter and sour :( I won't be back but hey they have decent branding and merchandising however; no stand out visuals or vibrancy. Their atmosphere is as boring as their coffees and they are purposefully eliminating a whole selection of people by not offering basic accommodations.

Coffee hit very good the overall service was nice little slow but we worked through it a lot of people in a small space but definitely a good local hangout

Granted we showed up 20 minutes before closing, we were not offered chai tea that had been offered with coffee passport and noted in previous yelp reviews. We also were not told the WiFi password because it was 10 minutes until closing. This was probably why the tea took more than 5 minutes to make and served in a very small cup. The latte was ok.

A cute hidden gem in Verona! Located off the main road by the train tracks, it took me an awkwardly long time to know it was there. It is a smaller place and very simple and clean decor. I ordered my usual favorite, a soy chai latte. This time, I asked for almond milk (which was organic) as sometimes I've noticed it's creamier. Lightly sweet, it had a very pleasant spiced taste without being overbearing. The barista decorated the top with a star made of spice (cinnamon maybe?) which I thought was really cute! I loved it and will come back.

This coffee shop is located right on Freeport Road in Blawnox. The inside is cozy, with photos on the walls, a couple of pastry cases, and a wall full of plants and plant-themed artwork. The bright wood tables, arranged in a herringbone pattern, paired nicely with the baby blue chairs and gave the shop a welcoming feel. After seeing that they exclusively served Rosa beans and seemed very proud of that, both my wife and I decided to order Americanos. My wife chose hers iced while I went with mine hot. My daughter ordered a cinnamon swirl, and I added a chicken empanada. About five minutes later our entire order was ready, and we headed back to the car. I started with the empanada. It had a nice flaky crust, and the chicken filling had good flavor, although it was a little on the dry side. My daughter didn't share her cinnamon swirl, but she assured me that it was good. After finishing my empanada, I moved on to my coffee and thought it was excellent. It opened with a touch of bitterness before settling into a smooth, rich coffee flavor that I really enjoyed. I was hoping to pick up some distinctive varietal notes on the finish but wasn't able to find any. Even so, it was still a very enjoyable cup of coffee. My wife also enjoyed her iced Americano. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. Both my wife and I enjoyed our coffees, and the food made for a nice accompaniment as well.

I flew in from Atlanta and my friend said I had to try it. They're closed on Sat/Sun so we went that Friday. The shop is quaint but cute. It's takeout only. We arrived at 11:50am. They cut off breakfast ordering around noon. So we got there in the nick of time. And a line of people came in after we did but they still honored their orders. We ordered the Speecy Spicy on a croissant. I got mine without greens. The desserts looked so good I also bought an enormous chocolate chip cookie and my friend got the Nutella cookie stuffed with raspberry. Our order was made pretty quickly. I opted to eat in the car because it smelled delicious and I couldn't wait til we got back. Opening the wrapper was like opening Christmas presents...the anticipation and excitement were at a 10. First bite, I melted. It was everything I needed. The croissant was buttery, flaky and soft. The folded egg was fluffy and the way the cheese melted in between the layers was heaven sent. The bam bam sauce took it up a notch but the bacon stole the show. I've never in my life had bacon that tasted that good. It's such a satisfying and filling sandwich that I only ate half and decided to save the rest for the next day which I might add was still tasty. Air fry it for 7-10 mins and then microwave for an additional 2 mins and it tasted like I just got it. I was in town for 5 days and had it my 2nd day and my 5th day as well. I was lucky that they decided to make breakfast on a Monday and I flew out that afternoon so we made a stop to get me 1 more for the road. This time I left the greens (spinach) on the sandwich and I still loved it. I will def come back to Pittsburg just for this breakfast and the desserts. Or maybe they can franchise to Atlanta Almost forgot I also got a dill chicken salad wrap togo. The chicken salad is tasty and I love the pickles in it.

A family member got the Cobb salad, and they're brought it out with an enormous, and tasty, piece of chicken on top. Another family member got the Chophouse salad, and it came out with a huge hanger steak. Instead of fries, it had redskin potatoes and it looked almost like somebody put a salad together and cooked a roast to put on it. The only thing off was that it was requested to be medium, and it was seated nicely, but far closer to rare. We tried the oysters, and they were good. They came out with 3 sauces (cocktail, hot sauce, and cucumber mignonette). We tried the potato croquettes, and they're game with a slice of jalapeño and a spicy sauce. The croquettes were crispy on the outside and really airy on the inside. The jalapeño was a great touch as it added some bite that we all liked. I'd get this again. We tried the Burrata toast, and it consisted of four pieces that had an enormous ball of cheese. They were a group favorite. I'd definitely get it again. We tried the beef carpaccio, and it came out with a large portion of toast. I thought the beef was good, but I preferred it without the toast as it seemed to hide the beef flavor. I went with the seared salmon, and that came with grains and pickled onions. The salmon was cooked very well, and I feel like the grain, onions, and sauces gave it a unique flavor. I appreciated them doing something different. I got the broccoli as a side as I just don't see it as an option very often. It had a balsamic glaze, tomato, and it was cooked well. I also got to try some of their lamb chops, and the portion was huge. The lamb itself was good, but there was a spice on it that didn't seem to be equally distributed. You'd not taste it for a few bites, then you'd take a bite and this heat would kick in. It wasn't bad by any means, but it was enough that several of us noticed it. The lamb came with roasted carrots, and those were amazing. They are easily the best carrots that any of us had, and they're good enough that I think it's worth mentioning. One person got dessert, the crème brûlée, and she said she'd have been happy to have five more brought out, so it's a safe assumption that it was tasty. Lastly, the service was exceptional. I'm really sorry that I didn't catch her name, but she was great. With everything that was ordered, she handled it all well and she couldn't have been kinder. I'd definitely be good with coming back sometime in the near future.
