Love the sandwiches, Subway is a joke to be sitting right across from them. My only complaint is I don't like yellowing lettuce. I like thick-cut, romaine lettuce. Not shoestring, yellowing, presumably iceberg lettuce. read more

Not sure what happened but when old man meconi owned the original store on Lacey boulevard the food and service was fantastic, been eating here since around 1986. I think the kids took over but I have to say the food and service is not what it used to be. The lettuce is brown and the meat tastes like fish. Beware of the redhead at the Marvin road store, she is incredibly rude and damm near chased me out of the store for a 30 cent slice of cheese and then made me go the the back of the line to pay for it. I ordered a bun with cheese for my daughter, no veggies, no meat, no sauces.....bread and cheese only so I asked if I could have a extra slice of cheese to give it substance. The cashier didn't charge but oh boy the redhead confronted me at our table in front of our 10 year old daughter and demanded payment for the extra slice of cheese, then made me go back to the counter at the back of the line, I had to wait to give them 30 cents. Really ? Turned a nice father daughter lunch into a not so fun outing. Get back to the family values and maybe improve the food to what it used to be. read more

Bread way too thick. Also tasted blah. Meat lacking and so were the toppings. Definitely not worth the money or a trip back. Subway better as you can add as many toppings as you want without getting nickel and dimed to death. read more

Perfect example of a great, great locally-family owned sub shop. A half sandwich can always fill me up. I get the the turkey breast with bacon, cosmo style "toasted", and it always hits the spot. The turkey is so tender it melts in my mouth, and the bacon and bread have a seemingly perfect crunch from being toasted. I would recommend this sandwich to anyone (whose diets allow them to consume bacon, turkey etc. you get what I'm saying) and it will run you a whopping $7.02. Definitely worth the cost for a wholesome meal, and trust me, you will leave extremely satisfied. The staff is also very friendly and courteous. read more

Meconi's is a good spot to get an insanely large sandwich for very cheap. The sandwiches are good, but how do you really screw up a sub sandwich? Throw some meat, cheese, mayo, a little bit of lettuce on some fresh bread and it's going to be delicious. They aren't making anything magical here. This used to be my absolute FAVORITE sandwich place ever. I guess it still is, the only criticism I have is that they seem to have lowered the meat servings from when I was a kid. They have a really good blend of veggies/seasonings if you pick "everything" if you like onions. It used to be my absolute favorite with the turkey sub. Man, their turkey is good! Not that the food is bad...its not...the shop is tired looking and the staff always seems miserable. I don't go there much, but two different times I was there I heard the guy that runs the place yelling or insulting the older couple who own it...and that just freaks me out. i love meconi's sandwiches, but i definitely prefer the olympia location. the people who work at the lacey location are a little on the unfriendly side. the last time i went there, some lady placed an order for 25 (i repeat: 25) philly cheesesteaks. i ordered one. guess whose order they filled first? like i said, that was my last visit there. unfriendly service is one thing, but i draw the line at 30 minute waits. read more

I am from Oly WA & now live in Indiana 20min out of Chicago & when I go home this is a place I to go to for lunch everyday!! When I am headed back 2 Chicago we stop in to get a sandwich for our trip on the way home!! Combo please regular with extra oregano!! My hubby same thing just extra meat & a whole one with a Chili Please!! My friend Holly Linscott Pierce used to work @ the Lacey location back in 1990's maybe even sooner & she had me stuck after she insisted I try there sub. I am an avid foodie as my hubby & I travel all over the world & I have never loved a sub like theres! The owners are always there & I don't think I have ever been there & not seen them working side by side, love that too! I hv my brother, his wife & kids that I take there everytime I am home & my best friend Christine & her daughter Sammi!! They just get to enjoy it more then I do. :) One of your biggest fans, will never stop lovin me some Meconi's... Will be home next week & guess where my 1st stop will be before I even say Hi to anyone?? Yup get right off the freeway & go straight there as I am pretty hungry anyway from the long trip & having to pick up the rental car etc etc.. then I make it to my best friends house or my brother's :) Mouth is watering now, can't wait! Our first visit to Meconi's and it was the best. Dining area was super clean and all supplies were filled and staff were friendly. Person taking our order was very efficient and did an excellent job as a first face you meet. The girl that brought our food was pleasant and very helpful. Food was fresh and prepared well. If you are like me, and you look at pictures and read reviews of a place before you decide where to eat, then you may not choose Meconi's. But the truth is that most pictures of these sandwiches don't do them justice. The sandwiches are special for no obvious reason. Truly, I cannot figure out what makes these sandwiches so incredibly good. There shouldn't be anything spectacular when you look at them or see what they are made of: typically just white bread, mayo, cheese, meat, lettace, tomato, and a little seasoning. Does that sound like one of the best sandwiches you have ever tasted? I doubt it, but just trust me: it will be spectacular. The new location on Lacey Blvd makes it much easier to eat here regularly, even though it is always packed (pro tip: call ahead) you will be able to park and order more comfortably than their previous tiny location. The only reason I am knocking them down a star is that occasionally I get poor service here. I would guess that on average, about every fifth visit I have to deal with a rude or arrogant employee, who will sometimes treat me like I am a burden to them. I am guessing that because of how busy this place is, the staff is quickly burnt out, but it's frustrating to eat here so frequently and be treated poorly, especially since I constantly recommend Meconi's to friends from out-of-town as a place they must visit while they are here. read more

I have always gone to the original meconi's in Lacey and love the sandwiches. Yes the prices are a little hight but the quality it there.

The best wheat bread and their subs are always great! Service is fast, but they are usually busy so don't expect to be in and out.

This is definately the best sandwich shop in Lacey. My favorite is the Philly Cheese on fresh baked bread with cheese, peppers and onions. They also have the best home made potato salad. The dressing is light and the potatoes are cooked to perfection. read more

I love this place! The sandwiches are consistently good. I usually get the turkey breast, pickles and olives added please. Today my husband got the meatball sub. Nice and cheesy, and not too much sauce that the bread got soggy. The bread really is part of what make the subs so great. Heads above Subway. But even more, the staff is awesome. I can tell that the only people that can appreciate a true sub not from a large franchise are from the east. This sub shop is soo close to getting it right but not all the way there. The subs themselves are very good but inside the resturaunt is less than desireable. a little modernization and cleaning would go a long way. Now to get that perfect taste out of these subs here is what you have to do. Try it if you like if not your missing out: Order a custom combo, Pastrami, salami and capicola, then all of the condiments. 2. have them throw it in the oven with everything already on it, EVERYTHING.
