The food from here is always solid. Made well, delicious, fresh. It's gotten super spendy, but so has every Jimmy John's. But they are sloooooow. The slowest JJ's I've ever been too. Their motto is "freaky fast," but this location is abysmally slow. I was just in the drive-thru. I was the only car. I got a club and three Slim Jims, which are just meat and cheese on bread. Most expensive lettuce sandwich I've every had. Was expecting what I'd had two months ago from this same location. So disappointed that my 'Unwhich' was not only wrapped in lettuce, but mostly filled ONLY with it. One thin slice of turkey and two small slices of cold bacon. As this place just opened, I was prepared to have the maximum level of patience for the new employees. I guess I am starting to get lazy in my middle age, so I went through the drive thru. I went around 6:30 p.m. and it wasn't to busy. Getting in to the parking lot is kind of treacherous when entering from Martin Ave, but I made it in. Right now there appears to be a lot of employees. I sure after this grand opening week the amount of employees will decrease a bit because I don't anticipate it being as busy as it was for the first couple of days. It only took 8 minutes from order to delivery. They really were moving fast that night. I did like though that they had an outdoor eating area which might be nice in the spring months coming up, possibly if it's not raining but it is Washington sooooooooo ya know. Only problem with the outdoor eating area is that you have to cross the drive thru road in order to get to the patio and if cars are exiting the drive thru at a great speed or the driver isn't paying attention, pedestrians might get hit. Now for the sandwich, I ordered the large veggie. They have the small one and the large one. Honestly, it was nothing special. The bread was just a plain ole white roll and for a "veggie" sandwich, it really doesn't have a lot of vegetables on it. A few cucumbers, about 3 slices of tomato, several globs of mayonnaise, and an overabundance of layers of cheese. The menu notes avocado spread, but I did not get any on my sandwich. I also had a hard time eating the sandwich as the cucumbers and tomatoes make the sandwich so moist that the cheese slides out the back every time you take a bite. Also, for some reason my stomach didn't feel right after consuming the sandwich. I was glad to support a newly opened business but probably won't be back as I can get a more flavorful sandwich from Subway or maybe even Quiznos. This sandwich was overall bland. They do deliver though just in case you don't have time to get something on lunch. read more

It is true that parking is limited and access to/from the store is precarious; it's also true that the freaky fast delivery is harder to replicate here in Lacey than in Seattle, BUT the sandwiches are soooooo GOOD! I ordered #9, the Italian hero, thru the drive thru and it was ready within a few minutes (like less than 2 minutes); and the place was humming inside during a high noon lunch rush. The bread has a crusty outer shell yet it is still soft & chewable. The lettuce was fresh & chilled. The cold cuts were chilled and delicious. Each bite begged for yet another. This particular location of Jimmy John's gets my order wrong about 9 out of 10 times. (Martin Road location in Olympia Washington). Today, I ordered my sandwich without onions, it came with onions and made me sick with the smell and burned my eyes... Basically ruining my meal. Onions, like garlic, leave their smell and taste behind even if you pick them off. I also ordered it with Dijon Mustard.. It had none. I also ordered it online with the "Cut in Half" option checked. It wasn't cut in half. Finally, the receipt clearly indicated these preferences/options so there should be no confusion about a telephone order/misunderstanding. The restaurant on Cooper Point in Olympia has never messed up my order this bad. Also, another 4-6 Jimmy John's I frequented in Idaho and California over the years never messed up this bad. When I am at work, I order from the Cooper Point Olympia location and am generally happy. I hope they fix this soon. I will never frequent this location again unless I am convinced that these simple problems can be fixed. The manager (who was on the job just 1 week), offered me a credit for my next visit, and tried to make apologies. I do not fault him unless he fails to do the manager's job and deal with the mistakes with the person responsible. Eventually, he agreed to credit my order back to my payment method (G Pay). Two stars because at least the staff has never been rude to me. My order is incorrect every single time, and I've been to this location 10-15 times. They will randomly omit standard items from the sandwiches (cheeses, veggies, sauces etc.), and any add-ons have never shown up. Once again, I write a review with a sense of surprise, as the star level I anticipated giving an establishment beforehand differs from the actual star level I gave after the fact. In Jimmy Johns case, I went in expecting to only give a 2 star, but after eating one of their sandwiches, I felt JJs was more along the lines of a 3 star 'A-OK.' Also, I write this review looking at Jimmy Johns as a whole, not so much relative to this particular location. My experience started off one a sour note, since one of the things that supposedly sets Jimmy Johns apart is their delivery service. I went on their website to place an order for delivery, only to receive a "Bummer we don't deliver to this address!" message. The house is just 3 miles away, so this left me with a WTF taste in my mouth. If the delivery policy is to deliver within a less than 3 mile radius, you're gonna get a lot of displeased customers. I settled for the pickup option, and this was convenient enough. I got to pay online, although when I got to Jimmy Johns, they told me I owed an additional .01. Incredible, right? On the bright side, my order was ready just in time for my pickup, so I spent less than 5 minutes inside the actual restaurant. On a side note, I was pretty surprised about how busy they were, but when any new restaurant opens up in the town of Lacey, people would part the sea to try it. And now onto the food portion of this review, and this is what saves the day for Jimmy Johns. Any resident of Lacey/Olympia/Tumwater knows the reigning champion of subs is Meconis, a place that would rival the best sub places in Seattle. My first bites of the JJ Gargantuan sub reminded me of Meconis...there was a good balance of the tangy vinegar and mayo that accented a good mixture of vegetables and A LOT of meat (hence the name). The bread tasted pre-made, but that didn't really dampen my experience. This is one of the first times I felt too full from the sandwich alone to enjoy the pickle (an additional $1.25, but it's giant, as well). In closing, this Jimmy Johns experience was several times better than my first experience a couple years ago. The highest marks revolve mostly around the sandwich, and negative marks for their delivery system and corporate feel. If I had to choose between Quiznos, Subway, and Jimmy Johns, JJ would take the cake. read more

Ohhhh Jimmy John's. I had never heard of you until I moved to Oregon and I'm not really sure how I feel about you yet. While they definitely are FAST at getting your food to you inside or in the drive thru, the food itself just tastes bland to me. Bland bread, avocado, cheese (only provolone) and meat. It is filling though and I didn't realize how big the sandwich was going to be until I was halfway through and had the other half staring at me from the backseat of my car. The employees at this particular location were very nice but definitely tried upselling me on every little thing. "People LOVE adding extra avocado on that sandwich would you like to add more? Most people do it!" said the voice through the drive thru box. No thanks. For the kind of place it is I have to say it's pretty good. I do wish they had different kinds of cheeses to add more flavor but that's just me. I will say that the sandwich meat they use tastes pretty decent and the bread was nice and soft. Even though you get a large sandwich I think that the prices are a little steep. Two sandwiches, two bags of chips and a soda were $20. The bags of chips were slightly bigger than your normal personal size bag. $20 for two people in a drive thru kind of defeats the purpose of a drive thru for me. I usually go when I don't want to spend much and need a fast meal and this place only delivers on the "fast" part. One of the nicest Jimmy John's locations I've ever been to. It must be brand new. It even has a drive-thru, which I have never seen at Jimmy John's! On the whole, Jimmy John's offers relatively straight-forward, plain sandwiches. I'm not sure why "gourmet sandwiches" is part of their tag line. They are good quality, but "gourmet" denotes something these sandwiches are not. Still, I've been to Jimmy John's locations across the country and they all have the same menu, so at least it's a consistent place to stop at.
