If you ask anyone that grew up around the area where you can find the best sandwiches in town, they will most likely say "MECONI'S!!!" I grew up eating Meconi's sandwiches on days when my parents had the occasional lazy day of not wanting to prepare a home cooked meal, or for my siblings and I to bring on our school field trips. My go-to sandwich is their Italian which contains salami, capicola, provolone, mayo, lettuce, tomato, onion, Italian oil, and oregano in between their sub roll that is baked fresh in house. I can't really pinpoint what makes this sandwich so good since all the ingredients are tasty but their bread is a big factor on why I love Meconi's so much, which is usually soft and warm. Personally, I think these sandwiches are reasonably priced and worth it. Also, their pasta salad is one of my favorite pasta salads of all time. Its made with al dente noodles, black olives, red peppers and thick slices of salami in a tangy vinaigrette dressing. It is just delicious. read more

The only knock on this place I can see is that it has no rewards cards, nor does it have an app, probably partly because its a local chain? Anyway, on to the sandwich itself, I had went with the White bread, since this is an Italian sub shop and it seemed more in line of that- but next time (and there will be a next time) I would most likely try the wheat bread. Overall, both the bread and the meat was very good, although, seemed a little skimpy on the meat portion- so that being said, the bread, and everything is was very good, and would recommend this place and go back to it. read more

I was pretty sorely disappointed I've been there two times and after my last experience I wont be back.... I was the 1st in line ordered my sub and my garlic cheese bread to go and waited about 15mins to get my order to go which wasn't terrible but the sandwich was almost comparable to homemade the sad part was when I opened my garlic cheese bread there was no cheese so I had to go back and I got there and waited at least 5 minutes before anyone acknowledged me even though the kitchen was quiet and there were no customers in the Restaurant when the guy comes to talk to me his attitude was 'what...' not even how can i help you... I felt pretty uncomfortable and unwelcome and when I told him my order was messed up he said ok and went back and told the cook and never was their an apology or anything for the inconvenience as I literally drove home and came all the way back for my order....I was severely disappointed the website and info describes this establishment as a family owned restaurant...definitely felt very much like an unwelcomed stranger.... Came in with the girlfriend today because she used to live down the road and frequented here a lot. She was so excited to eat here after being gone for years, made me excited to try this place as well. I went with the Philly cheese steak off the recommendation from the gentleman working the front and I'm glad I did. It was tender, moist and very tasty. I got the half and it was still a lot of sandwich to eat! For the price, size, and taste I would eat here over subway any day (if I lived close of course). In the area for softball and knew a good lunch would be needed, especially for the kiddo and I heard a fellow parent talk about this place and I only knew of the bar location in downtown Tacoma and found out that this sandwich spot is the same family and so I had to go! I loved everything about this place, the food was excellent, service great, restaurant was clean and had outdoor seating and with the weather it was a must. I would give them 5 stars but the pricing is a little on the high side since items are individually charged and they don't offer a meal price to include side and drinks. My first visit to a Meconi's and I must say they are doing some thing right! First, I was impressed with the facility itself. Very clean and open. Second, their Covid protocols were dead on. The new restaurant is modern, spacious & well-lit. The Italian sub continues to be their signature sandwich. I have to ask myself why I love Meconi's? Reason #1: I first bit into their sandwiches at their old Capital Way location which had no air conditioning, a busy neighborhood ad board and a clear un impeded view of the sandwiches being made. It was clearly local and felt family loved & owned. Reason #2: Meconi's wasn't a chain like Subway. The meat appeared better quality and the bread was better than Subway (which isn't hard to do). Reason #3: I'm from the East Coast and their old tag line was "From the East Coast." Today those 3 reasons are less true than 10 years ago. Hey, things change. I'm actually grateful to be able to grab a consistent sub for lunch whether I'm in Lacey, Olympia or Tumwater. My favorite and others by unanimous decision appears to be the Italian sub. I tried the Philly cheesesteak and this sandwich has no resemblance to the original. I lived in Philly for a while and feasted on Phil's Cheesesteaks on South Street. Not a winner. However, I agree with another review that complained that Meconi's has a "sub monopoly" in the area. (We sub peeps take our sandwiches seriously.) Lets see what happens when imports like Jimmy Johns start entering the Oly-Lacey-Tum sub market. In the meantime, Meconi's is the best area sub. I noticed that this location began wine & beer sales this week. Parking is also much improved with more spaces with well defined lines. Had the want to grab a sub. Wanted that fresh meat and veggie fix. Loaded up my Yelp app and started to research. Reviews were strong here so we opted to give it a shot. First off the environment is pleasant. The tables, floor and restroom were clean. The menu does have a lot to pick from and expected pretty much anything would be a good pick. We both ordered the turkey sub and added additional jalapeños and peppers. Service was quick so another plus. The sub was a disappointment for both of us. The actual sub bread was very very thick. The amount of turkey meat was barely evident. There was so much lettuce on the sub we could of made a additional salad. The sub also had very little flavor. Just bread and lettuce was all we could taste. I am sure they have their staples that are great, but don't order a basic sub and expect a lot. It's a sad day when the cheese slice is thicker than the turkey slice. I literally thought they forgot the turkey. And what meat there was, tasted like cheap packaged turkey meat. No flavor at all in the sandwich. The potato salad was salty. How does that happen? We ordered a cheese steak sandwich as well. My kid didn't eat it. My kid eats everything. Very expensive.
