Twice now I have had horrible experiences with the Hawks Prairie location. The first time I asked for a steak Caesar salad. The same as their chicken caesar, but with steak. They forgot my dressing and gave me a $13.00 tray of romaine lettuce and some steak. No cheese, crutons, basically anything that makes it a Caesar salad. No apology or fault on their part in their eyes. The second was yesterday, 9/13/2019. I called to place an order of soup and a sandwich. I was out on "hold" which was the phone being set down next to the register and the next 5 mins all I could hear was the guy who answered taking orders of other people. A half hour or more later waiting inside and watching two others who ordered after me get their food, I got up and asked what's up. They said they didn't have my order inside the kitchen. The kid at the front counter at least had the decency to ask his coworkers to hurry up. No apology, no offer of my money back for the inconvenience, just way bad service. While my wife enjoyed her order of Philly cheese -steak sub, I was deeply disappointed in my order of garden salad. It consisted of short cut pieces of romaine lettuce ribs with small yellow and white leaves attached or trims. This was not an example of a good salad. A quick bite to eat led to a veggie sub that was... not great but not bad either just somewhere in between. The bread was good, I believe they make it in house though I could be wrong. Otherwise the sandwich was packed with cheese, 3 types; american, swiss and provolone; lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, mayo and a vingery dressing finished it off. All in all it was larger than expected for a full sandwich, think in comparison it's like a foot long and a six inch subway sandwich combined. It's not a hot sandwich so no toasting but I would eat it again for something quick that's decent and the service was very nice, the staff was cheerful and just nice ppl. Whatever this place is doing, they are doing it right. I ordered a build your own sub, with pastrami, capicola, and turkey and my husband got the Philly cheese steak. We loved the vread, the quality of meats and just overall how simple, yet delicious our subs were. They were also cheaper than subway, we both got a half sub (that's still about 8 inches long I think) and it was $13 for both of us. Great place to stop by and give a try! read more

My Daughter just loves this place but I have mixed feelings. Witnessed also the Manager yelling at a customer and didn't appreciate it very much. I don't like Subway becuase their sandwiches are supposed to be 12 inch somehow become shorter. I prefer Canna Cabana's subs becuase I can see them making the subs and the only thing is about Canna Cabana, is their menu which is kind of different. You can't get a normal sub there, But I haven't tried asking also. But at Meconi's the sub that I usually get is with Black Forest Ham, and it has a strange taste so I usually only about half and throw it away. They don't have that many sides, and I would recommend more. So I have mixed feelings about their sandwiches. read more

The stars on here are for the food only. The service should get a minus score. I know stuff happens but it was attitude and poor service from start to end. Got two $25 gift cards for Xmas. Decided to use last night. Tried to order online but no where to enter gift cards, which I find ironic since they are doing huge online business and promoting gift cards. So after 20 mins of realizing there really was no place to enter them on my order, I called the lacey store and placed our order which was for six people. The girl who took my order seemed irritated by the big order but I understand they may be getting slammed as she hung up before I even finished my order. My daughter went to pick up our order 15 mins later and they did not have our order at all. No where. They said I probably called the wrong store. Since I'm not 12 and know how to call the correct store, I decided to look at my phone any way to see what number I called which was the correct store. So my daughter had to put in our order again (third time at this point), and had to wait. Paid with both gift cards and they said the amount due without tip was $35. We were only suppose to pay around $11. She asked if both cards went through and they said yes. So my daughter goes to the car and doesn't think the calculations were right and checks the receipt and one of the cards did NOT go through. So she had to go back into the store and tell them and, with some attitude, the girl realized the mistake and gave her back one of our gift cards. I know they can be a busy store but at no turn we're we shown any grace or an apology for the constant mistakes that occurred. I like their sandwiches a lot but I got a subway right up the road and it's a lot friendly and less hassle. Meconi's new policy: If you only want tomatoes on half your sandwich, you will now be charged for two half sandwiches. That's what we were just told. When I asked why they couldn't just put tomatoes on half, the girl said that it was against Meconi's policy. Since I have lived in Thurston County for over 30 years, I asked when this policy came into effect and she said a few months ago. Take note Thurston County residents. The owners of Meconi's no longer care about you or satisfying the customer. They no longer care about exceptional customer service. They know that this market is properly monopolized and residents have no options. It's either Subway or Meconi's. As paying customers, you have a choice to make: continue to bend over and make excuses for Meconi's ridiculous policies or stop giving them your business. In time, they may learn, but I wouldn't hold your breath. read more

GLUTEN FREE. It's been years since I had a sub. This place has actually GF subs not just a sub on sandwich bread. I got it toasted per cashier's rec, so Italian dressing wouldn't make it to soggy- Excellent!! Kids had the GF Turkey and ate the entire sandwich, bread, too, which is unusual for them. I decided to try a small side of the pasta salad since it was only $3 and it did not disappoint. this paired with my sub was the perfect dinner, left me full and satisfied. only negative comment is that the only time I'll get meconis is when I'm in lacey. really wish they had locations in the north.. but other than that, love this sub shop! read more

We FINALLY made it to Meconi's after months of intending to try it out - and we weren't disappointed. What takes their sandwiches from really good to amazing is the bread they use. It's delicious! Beyond that, they offer a lot of options and have a friendly staff. Although it's not as convenient that they're not open late, it's completely understandable for a smaller, local business. They could use a little more seating because it's always crowded, too, but with limited space and the rainy weather outside I'm not quite sure what else they could do. read more

I have heard rave reviews about this place so I was a bit disappointed. I got the philly and it was just not good. Wasn't terrible, just dry and the meat was chunky (not the "thin slices" in their description) and there were more onions than anything else. I also got some pasta salad, it literally tasted like they dumped the olive juice from a can of olives into some rotini. I just don't understand why everyone loves this place so much. I am going to preface this by saying I loooove Meconi's. I love their italian sub, their turkey sub, and their Philly cheesesteaks. I usually eat at the one by Cabela's, but tonight I decided to stop by this one instead on the way home. The staff was super nice and it wasn't busy, and I got my order suspiciously fast. I looked in the bag and I saw what I thought was my order- two sandwiches and a kids meal. I drove home, 15 minutes away, and as I was unpacking everyone's dinner I realized that I actually was missing half my order. The two sandwiches I thought I had were actually just two halves of the same one, and I was missing a whole other sandwich. I'm a fan of Meconi's. Primarily because they have gluten free bread that's made in-house. It does tend to be dry and fall apart but what do you expect from a gluten free bread?!? I was in here was before in the evening and they did not have any. So, if you want the gluten free goods, you gotta get in early. My corned beef on gluten free bread was delicious. Salty and oily and everything a person could ask for after restricting carbs for a month. The service was really fast. I was probably only there 10 minutes and there were a few orders before mine. This is my gold-standard for subs, and the only thing close to this perfection is the sub shop located in the East Coast town I grew up in. My trips home to Oly are never complete until I've had some NW java and a Meconi's Combo sub! I have to agree with the other reviewers that think it's the bread that helps make these sandwiches as good as they are: It's soft and chewy, and perfectly compliments the standard mayo/oregano/oil condiments, as well as the variety of fillings that you can choose from. I can't be partial about how good these are--and I only wish they'd expand to places like, um, California. :) It can't hurt to dream, can it? :) read more
