    Just food
    Simon R.

Where do I start with this one. It's the Saturday before Labor Day. My wife and I wanted to go grab some food. She ordered The Philly chicken cheesesteak And on a 1:00 to 10 she gave it a seven. I myself had the meatball and I added black, olive and banana pepper because I'm cool like that. This might sound ridiculous because I thought it was when it popped into my mind. I think I prefer Subway. The bread was far better at Meconis but the lack of seasoning and overall flavor haunted me. It was just so incredibly bland. Worth mentioning the portion. Sizers were outrageous. You get a lot of Sandwich when you order a full. The ambiance left a lot to be desired. It felt incredibly corporate. A complete lag of personality made me want to get the hell out of there. My wife was excited to try the chili. It was forgettable. Because the portion sizes are significant. I went looking for a box because nobody ever checked on us. I found some to the side but it was roped off and it said employees only. Just looking in that direction. A young lady came and asked me if I needed help and I said I needed a box. With a strange tone she suggested that they did not have boxes and it seemed almost outrageous that I asked for one. Then she said this area is for employees only, the area I did not violate and told me to walk around to get tin foil. As I approached the tin foil she told me we can't have people wandering into the employees only section. I had to mention to her that I never breached the employees only section. LOL she was quite young. Seemed a little confused and I left even more confused. The food's okay, the ambiance left a lot to be desired, and the customer service was disappointing. I think it's important to recognize it's just one experience. Maybe they'll be better the next time. For me, there won't be much of a next time because I've had better sandwiches elsewhere including fast food chains for a third of the price. I don't want to rain all over all of the parade so I will again mention the portion sizes were impressive.

These are the best sandwiches I have had across the U.S.! Cold, fresh subs and anything you order will be good. If you go during lunch hours there will likely be a rush so plan accordingly.

    Italian (Half) - "Cosmo style"

Meconi's - Olympia, WA It was my first time here so I asked the guy who was ahead of me in line what I should get and he recommended the Italian Cosmo style which means they toast it up so the meat gets activated. I also got garden salad 1000 island dressing* both were delicious . * The thousand Island dressing was actually "Newman's own 2000 island dressing" which was not my favorite. It has bacon in it which I've never heard of in 1000 Island and there was no sense of relish either. Typically I think of 1000 island, it's ketchup, mayo, and relish. The food came out in a matter of minutes and they brought it to my table. I would say a half sandwich is plenty for most people. I thought I wanted a whole she recommended a half and it was plenty. 30 minute parking around back

This is a great place for lunch. Whether you have it for take-out, delivery, or catered, their food tastes great. The service is very fast, although it can get crowded during the lunch hour. I always order online and then pick it up. The ambiance is usually super quiet until lunch. At noon the place gets full and the conversations get amplified. I love their Philly cheesesteak sandwich or salad. The meal deal includes a drink and chips or cookie. Their ingredients are always fresh and their bread is really good. You can also customize your order by adding or subtracting ingredients. The prices are not bad for lunch food. All in all, you will enjoy having lunch here.

Anyone want a lettuce and salami? Italian (Whole)

I mean... this is on me. Truly. I forgot how bad this place has gotten. This is all lettuce and a couple slices of meat. Not an Italian. Been going here for over a 10 years... and this location keeps getting worse. DO NOT COME TO THIS LOCATION. They apparently don't like state workers and live for school trips.

I stopped by this Italian sandwich shop for the first time recently, and I was pretty impressed with the portion sizes. I ordered half a Philly cheesesteak, and when it came out, I honestly thought it was a full-size sandwich. For extra toppings, there's an additional charge. They have a solid selection of soda on tap and teas in the fridge, which is nice if you're looking for a drink to go with your meal. On my second visit, I tried the Southwestern salad with added chicken and chili on the side. They don't offer any toppings for the chili. The salad was great, but the chili was a bit too tart for my taste. One thing to note: you'll have to find street parking, and it can be a bit tricky. Be mindful of the lunch hour--there's usually a large crowd, but they're relatively quick at serving your food, so you won't be waiting too long.

Really enjoyed my lunch here. Line was very long so next time will probably pre-order online but didn't bother me much, had plenty of time to wait. Subs are my sisters favorite food, so please enjoy this half eaten photo of mine - it was delicious and I will be back!

Delicious sandwiches and freshly baked bread and cookies - wow! This place is really nice to grab a quick lunch. I have tried their Italian sub, corned beef and chicken cheesesteak and have enjoyed it all. Their bread is fresh and tasty and all the flavors are on point. Ample amount of indoor seating and food is also out pretty quick so thats fast service. Their cookie also tastes nice. Menu is sorted for folks who like hot or cold subs and some soup as well or chips. I usually get hot subs but I would go back for their Italian subs every time I am in town.

It's been a while since I've eaten at Meconi's but man these subs were great. I got the simple combo with the default toppings. I didn't think to get it toasted until after it arrived so that'll be for next time! The sub was generously filled with fresh toppings which I appreciated. Lots of mayo which wasn't necessarily a bad thing but definitely more than I'd spread on a sandwich at home. The bread was extremely soft and fluffy but there was also A LOT of bread to eat if you get the whole sub. I ended up pulling off some chunks. But overall it was delicious and super filling! Definitely worth stopping in. Next time I come back I'd probably use a mustard instead of the mayo, add a bunch of extra toppings, and make sure it gets it toasted!

Best sub I have had in awhile. Quick service and well made. Had the turkey sub and the meatball sub. Both solidly good. I'll be back!

The upstairs is small and intimate, which gives the whole place a cozy, unique feel. Our waiter this time was a young gentleman who was incredibly friendly and did a great job! Three of us ordered Coors Lights in bottles, and he brought them out ice cold with a chilled glass to pour them into. When we ordered a second round, he let us know he had just put some more in the freezer, so it would be a few minutes. That little extra step made a difference...we'd much rather wait a few minutes for an ice-cold beer than have it brought out warm! I ordered the spaghetti with their house-made Bolognese sauce and added a meatball, and WOW. The sauce had the perfect combination of slight sweetness, a little spice from the sausage, and that tangy tomato flavor. So good! And I'm usually not a huge fan of restaurant meatballs because they can be tough or rubbery, but this one was soft, juicy, and packed with flavor. Sean got the lasagna and absolutely loved it! Our friends who invited us out ordered the steak and spaghetti Bolognese, and everyone was happy with their meals. The steak was cooked exactly how it was requested, and the quality of the food for the price was really good. Overall, Pellegrino's is just a great little place. Warm, inviting atmosphere, friendly service, delicious food, and a fun, intimate setting that feels a little different from your typical Italian restaurant. Definitely worth checking out if you're looking for a place to enjoy a good meal with friends. We'll definitely be back!

Right away there was confusion at check-in--they called for a party of 9 with no name, and the host was rude when we responded using the first name instead of the last. After being seated, it took about 10 minutes just to get drinks, and then another 30 minutes before our server took our food order. During that time, we weren't asked about appetizers or offered any drink refills. About an hour later, the server came back and told us the kitchen was backed up and they were "just now making our food," which honestly felt like our order may have been forgotten. At that point, all of our drinks were empty and I had to ask for refills. While we were still waiting, another server came to the table asking how one of our steaks was cooked, which added to the confusion. Our food finally arrived after about an hour and a half. Unfortunately, the issues didn't stop there: My spaghetti and meatballs was incorrect, but I kept it since I didn't want to wait again with a toddler. My sister's husband's meal was never even put in--the server admitted this. My sister's fish and chips came out cold. No one checked back to see how the food was. Drinks were left empty again with no refills offered. We were never asked about dessert. Plates were never cleared, even after I stacked empties at the end of the table to help. Every time we needed something, we had to flag someone down. To make matters worse, the checks came out incorrect with items swapped between them. I've worked as a server/bartender for four years, and my niece is also a server, so we completely understand how busy and stressful things can get. But this experience missed the mark on multiple levels. Even when things go wrong, basic service--like keeping drinks filled and checking on guests--should still be happening. This was easily the worst restaurant experience I've had. It was especially disappointing because we're an easy group and typically tip very well. Unfortunately, we will not be returning.

Terrible parking - had to circle a couple times for street parking. Place had maybe 8 total people so not busy. Went up to Server/Cashier near front to let her know I was there for pickup and was immediately told "The servers like it when you stand by the table" in a mildly pretentious tone. No "Hi" or "How can I help you?" This is downtown Olympia so typical establishment behavior. Not surprised. Place was clean and very nicely decorated.Took about 5 minutes to get my pizza which was surprisingly quick. The Pizza I generally like my pizzas crisp and this was not even close. Very soggy, and not much flavor (Pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, olives). This was thin crust so that potentially had something to do with taste and texture. I would compare this Pizza to what you get at MOD. It's not too bad, but not too good. Average at best and I expected a lot better. Cost was about normal (14" pizza and bread appetizer for $50 plus tax). Marinara sauce for bread was delicious. All in all, it wasn't a terrible experience. It's by no means gourmet or fancy pizza. Perhaps the rest of their menu is better. Server needs to chill out and brush up on her customer service skills. 3 stars at best.
