Great CCW Course! Great Instructors! Great Content! SAFE ENVIRONMENT! Took CCW course for LA county(Initial app, not renewal) with MedicUp and enjoyed the experience. SAFE Most important in any firearm setting. I felt the course was run very safely and due primarily due to 1) great instructor:student ratio and 2) qualified & attentive instructors. We had a class of about 30 students, and i think we had probably 7-8 instructors on the range. This type of course will have a wide range of skill level in the students and MedicUp did a great job of ensuring it was a safe environment for all. (walked away with the same number of holes in my body as i went there with) FRIENDLY Casual environment with approachable instructors. Students encouraged to ask questions and everyone(instructors & students) was all smiles throughout. QUALIFIED CADRE Mix of active duty/retired law enforcement/military/EMT Able to offer instruction & knowledge from broad spectrum of experience. All the instructors also seemed skilled and was fun to shoot along side them. Regretfully, i can't remember all their names but my course included instruction from Juan, Ron, Randy, & Sebastian. CONTENT Shooting Component - Course included the expected practice and qualification on the range. Process was very much 1)tell you how to do it, 2) show you how to do it, then 3) ask you to do it. Medical Component - Same process as above, but with more practical information not typically included in shooting related courses. Hands on practice with TQ application, Wound packing, and chest seals. Classroom Component - clear, presentation of info on all expected coursework. Very open to engaging conversation & questions regarding various topics of concealed carry. Thoughtful inclusion of mindset as responsible gun owners who carry, and detailed discussion around permissive vs non-permissive places to carry in accordance with current CA laws. Outstanding: I would consider Medic Up Consulting to be the best firearms training I have ever been involved with. My husband retired from the local P.D. and myself from the U.S. Justice Dept., where I had to qualify each year in firearms and self defense. I wish this team would have been instructors during "range day" then. Their ability to instruct each phase of the training sessions in a professional and serious manner, yet performed with a relaxed and non-intimidating atmosphere is refreshing. Ditto...As in other training throughout the day, each instructor was very knowledgeable and shared background and life experiences, which initiated conversations among class members as well. I use to take a seat/last table, way in the back of the classroom, as I did here on day two and prepared myself for an extended nap during the long and boring session... turn off the lights and let the slide show begin...HOWEVER... this was the first time I didn't fall asleep and awake with a sore neck! Took an 8-hr Renewal CCW class w/ Juan, Sebastian, and the newest member of Medic Up Consulting (I'm sorry brother, I know your name starts with an "R" but I don't remember it exactly). This will now be my second CCW renewal in the oh so Amazing State of California, and I was thoroughly impressed with the training material and breadth of this class. In addition to fulfilling all of the CA requirements (class length, material, safety, legality, etc.), the staff at Medic Up Consulting also put together an extensive hands-on firearms demonstration and training portion that feels nothing like a class intended to simply check off boxes. In addition to the required shooting qualification, class material and instructor demonstration also covered: firearms handling/technique, simple drills (like the failure to stop + box drill), stop-the-bleed, and legal ccw protection. Overall, I would highly recommend this class to anyone looking to renew or even get their initial CCW in California. Additionally, I would also recommend taking any of their other classes (i.e. Basic Pistol, Night classes, etc.), as I cannot see any of their classes being subpar with the group of instructors and course material that they provide for attendees. Took their class on July 11 for my ccw training.I had so many questions In which I emailed them and was quickly responded to by Juan. He was able to answer all my questions and remembered me when I showed up to class and assisted me with a holster issue. If you're taking this class and worried about your holster they have a good assortment of holsters for rent/ sale on hand including other products. I Went into the class with experience using handguns. But went in with an open mind. I came out learning a lot of useful information. As such this like proper hand placement, wound patching, tourniquet application, and useful information regarding laws. As we shot for practice to qualify I looked around and could see in person there teaching skills as multiple students accuracy improved highly with there pointers. I could I highly recommend them and I will be taken a couple other courses with them. This is not my first CCW renewal class, however I can sincerely say that Medicup Consulting is one of the best, comprehensive training out there. Most of the instructors are former or current LEO, Military and EMT. The range class mirrors the fundamental safety procedures of the LEO range class. The EMT class was very useful in teaching life-saving skills, that the average person will most likely encounter in their daily life. The cost of the class is a great value for the information you will be taught. Additionally, I will recommend for anybody attending this class to add the Arizona CCW permit as well.
