Came here for a friday brunch and absolutely loveddd it, I wish I lived closer! The staff was all friendly and had great vibes and the space itself was simultaneously cozy but the design made it feel bigger and more open than it is. With that said, it is a bit tight with not that many seats, but the option of window seating and seating at the bar certainly helps. I got the cookie crisp cereal milk latte, raspberry almond tart, and cheese toast. It wasn't until halfway through my meal that I rememered to snag a picture. The food was sooooo good, all the flavours perfectly individual and shining through of each item. The tart wasnt too moist or dry, the latte had a lovely light espresso with the aftertaste of the yummy cookie crisp milk, and the toast was a delicious mix of salty and sweet. I was sooo full by the end of it. Before heading out, I had to check out their products and ended up leaving with some goat cheese with herbs and dried flowers and some gluten-free focaccia that I'm excited to try. read more

Really nice cafe with beautiful pastries and good food! The crookie is absolutely massive, and I love that the cookie isn't just in the top but also in the croissant as well, though I think the drizzled chocolate is a bit much. Would definitely go with something a little less sweet next time! Unfortunately they didn't have regular drip coffee when I went, but the Americano was solid, and their specialty drinks all looked good! LOVE this place!!!! Their coffees and teas are so great and my matcha was phenomenal... I'm still thinking about it. I loveeee when coffee shops actually use fresh strawberry purée when they make a drink with that flavor (and not store bought syrup). So that to me was a huge win in general. But the counter service was fast and easy. I had the shakshuka, and it was absolutely delicious! At $16.00, it was a bit pricey, but it was very filling, and the bread was perfect for dipping in the red sauce. My husband had the breakfast Sammie for $12.00, with an additional $4.00 for two slices of bacon. No sides came with the sandwich. I also love that the café offers loose tea, which is a great touch. I love the quality and freshness of Mediterra's bread, but this was my first time at the cafe! The food was definitely on par, I expected nothing less. The quiche was fluffy and creamy and the side salad had a delicious vinaigrette. The ham and cheese sandwich was also delicious and had an incredible pesto. As for the coffees, they were pretty average. Didn't really taste much of the flavorings in either, but I would more so come for the food here anyway. Absolutely excellent brunch! This was my first time ordering Mediterra to go and I was nervous, but I needn't be. The house cured salmon toast with an over medium egg miraculously remained intact and delicious. The french toast came with a side of maple syrup and wasn't soggy. I wish the granola bowl came with more granola for the price, but it was still good and traveled well because they put the oatmilk on the side. :) The location is definitely smaller than the Mt. Lebanon location and parking is your typical Pittsburgh street parking (as far as I can tell, since I was just running in to grab a pickup order). There was one outdoor table and some indoor seating. Extremely adorable vibes and had a very cute plant store nearby. Will definitely be back! read more

I would love to see them move into a bigger location in the neighborhood, since it can get quite crowded on the weekends and there are many other products, they just don't have the room to sell, which we love at their other locations. My wife and I started purchasing their bread several months ago. Whether it is a sourdough or rye, I know we are in for a treat. My wife, usually the one who makes the purchase, will arrive home with a fresh baked loaf full of complex air pockets encapsulated in a fresh, crisp and delightful crust casing. She places it on the counter and we just look at it. We open the package and give it a whiff. We enjoy the aroma that fills the room as we turn on the toaster oven and fire up the kettle. Once the toaster oven reaches a perfect 350 deg. Fahrenheit, we place two of the perfectly sliced bread into the oven. We wait...Our kettle begins to boil and we place our loose leaf black tea into our mugs to steep for several minutes. A short time later, our toast is done! Our slices of (now) toast are removed and we apply a layer of Ireland's great Kerrygold butter. We take our first bite and are elated as we experience the initial crunch before we enjoy the somewhat delicate and exceptionally delectable bite. As we sip our tea and eat our toast, we discuss the simple methods and ingredients that these professionals use to create this masterpiece. Before we know it, we are finished and we regret that we did not prepare another slice for ourselves to enjoy. That time will come soon enough. My wife is also a fan of their Chai Tea. The wonderfully intricate combination of spice and sweetness is unmatched. The siren of SB is no match if they were to go toe-to-toe. She describes it as silky, velvety, and extravagant. They bring her great joy. Now while I've never tried their breakfast sandwiches, I've seen them in-person. They are not your normal run-of-the-mill breakfast sandwich. The muffins, created with the finest and simplest of ingredients, are toasted to perfection. Their eggs are laid by the finest chickens. The ham/bacon, cut from the finest of even-toed hoofed swine. They place all of the ingredients together and a marvel is created. For the creator, it is just another Tuesday morning. But for the patron, the look of excitement of their faces is unmatched none other than that as Ralphy's face when he sees his Red Rider on Christmas Morning. The expression on the patrons face is notated by the maker of the sandwich and added to their mental list of satisfied customers. The customer service at this Lawrenceville location is also unmatched and something that should be emulated. They are efficient, friendly, and neighborly. You can tell that they practice the values and virtues that Mr. Rogers thought and continues to teach through his legacy. The prices are fare considering the quality of ingredients and the amount of compassion that goes into each item they put in front of their name. This little nook is settled nicely in the bustling neighborhood of Lawrenceville. A once depressed area of Pittsburgh after the steel mills left, now transformed into a bustling neighborhood that is comprised of eclectic small businesses and open-minded entrepreneurs. Should you choose to have your meal in-house, you can be assured of mental stimulation block after block once you are finished. This review is specific to the Lawrenceville location. The location is great -- right on Butler, but on the side where street parking is plentiful! The ambiance of the space is also nice...brightly lit, clean and comfortable seating at a few small tables or a larger shared space at the back of the restaurant. Also really like the pick-up rack for to-go orders, which helps to keep traffic moving in a positive way (even if you have to squeeze between the line and the tables to get to it). Unfortunately, that's where the good ends. I love the 'ideas' of their food and bakery selection way more than the execution. Things sound great on the menu and look great, but almost universally, every item is just overly sweet and excessive. Brown-sugar pop-tart? Awesome. Under two inches solid of frosting? Diabetic coma. Coconut-lemon cruffin? Delicious. Filled with about 1.5 cups of extremely sweet filling? Excessive. This extends to their breakfast menu. The ideas are solid, but execution tends to be overly complex, flavors not well-managed, no acidity, too much sugar. Pricing is just a bit high for me to be consistently disappointed with everything I order. Coffee menu looks great but quality is disappointing. They have some fun seasonal drinks that they promote, but you can tell that they don't have much of a barista training program in place or awareness/engagement with coffee in general. Service is probably my biggest dissatisfier here. I've pretty much quit ordering coffee in the morning here because, on 5 separate visits, I've waited up to 15! minutes for my to-go coffee while the barista prepares multiple coffee orders for the kitchen, talks, or otherwise just doesn't seem to be engaged. It seems awful to complain about that, because of course, yes, I want the kitchen staff to have their coffee and that has to be like one of the only perks of working here...but there has got to be a better way. Coffee prep is EXTREMELY slow in general. In general, I find service disinterested, at best, and sometimes openly unwelcoming to guests in terms of order time, communication, wifi policies, etc. I'm crossing this one off my list, and it's a darn shame, because it's a super convenient location for me! read more

I have loved Mediterra for yearsssss. It's my favorite place to get breakfast / brunch on the weekends, alone or with my pals. I stopped in before work this Saturday, during prime PGH Marathon nightmare traffic. It took me two hours to get to my delicious breakfast :) I sat at the window and enjoyed the chickpea pancakes to pack in some protein before work and sipped my Honey Rose Latte while watching people walk by with their dogs. I wanted to raid the cooler for some pickles and things before heading out, but tragically the famous line out the door hit and I couldn't have access I would say this place's only downside is that other people love it as much as I do. So happy that we have one in Lawrenceville now!! This is such a great brunch and lunch spot. We went late afternoon on a Saturday and it was pretty empty, contrary to what we were expecting. They definitely do get busy on the weekends for brunch but late brunch, it really clears out and you can get seats easily. The space inside is not huge so you really have to plan accordingly if you want to sit inside. They also had a cute mobile flower truck vendor outside! Like their other locations, you order at the counter and they bring your food to you (you get a number for your table). There's speciality products you can buy too in the front (like fancy butter, pasta salad, cheese, stuffed grape leaves). They have an awesome collection of breads and pastries. I really like their chocolate croissants and desserts. Their espresso here is so good! I loved the cappuccino. A little pricey for oat milk substitution but inflation is what it is. The sandwiches here are as good as they are at the Mt. Lebo location!! The braised beef sandwich is sooo good. They also have daily soup options too. My friend loved her lentil soup. The menu is pretty much the same as the Mt. Lebo location. They however do not have a bar and I don't think they have a liquor license. I wish they had more vegan options here too. Now every time I've given this place a shot as we live close by, the morning service has been a letdown, and you'll just have to prepare yourself to be extra patient. If there's a line of more than three people, I usually just walk away, as it can take at least 10 - 15 minutes to get a coffee. The baristas seem disengaged, walking around without urgency, and the overall vibe feels like customers are a bother rather than feeling welcomed. It's especially frustrating in numerous instances where someone would clock in, walk up to the counter, seems to not be aware of the growing queue, and vaguely tells the person in front of the line that someone else will help them. There's got to be a better way to run things. The service just feels disinterested at best. read more

This place is always buzzing! I came to have a quick lunch on a Friday, and get some work done as well. It was perfect for that. When I walked in, it was PACKED with people dining and in line. It's a very small space so be aware if you're planning to dine-in. I ordered a ham and cheese with pesto sandwich. For the price, I wish it would've come with a small side like mixed greens. Then I got a chai latte with oat milk, which took about 20 minutes to cool down enough to be drinkable. When it wasn't about to burn my tongue, it was tasty! I love Medittera's amazing breads, and that they sell a lot of other PGH small business's products. I recommend checking it out!
