Ordered on a pad and they made everything made to order. I got the chicken kebab plate and it was the juiciest chicken ive had in awhile! Plenty of rice and i liked all the veggies and sauces. All ordering is done on an iPad here and I ended up going with the Beef and Lamb combo plate with half salad and half rice. I chose the Baba Ganoush as the side to go with the Pita bread. When I had read that the Baba Ganoush was especially good here, I have to agree. It had that distinct smokey taste from the charred eggplant blended with tahini. Let's get started with the Pita bread. Oh how I loved this Pita served up warm, soft, and fresh. Was this the best Pita I've ever tried? Did I just say that? Yes. Dipped into the Baba Ganoush, I knew that this alone was hitting the spot. The beef and lamb was solid-- tender, juicy, thinly sliced and nicely seasoned. The salad with olives was exactly what I expect from a good Mediterranean salad- light and big on the olive taste. The rice was fluffy and seasoned well. Everything about this combo plate was done well and I'm definitely coming back here the next time I'm in Gilroy.

They have booths but those were all taken so we sat at a table in the middle of the dining room. Have sat outside on a previous visit and it was lovely Ordered cocktails and the starters zucchini chips and the Greek fries. Both were very nice and tasty. The starters came out before the cocktails which is why 4 stars instead of 5 Dinner was 1)moussaka - this was prepared very nicely with a nice ratio of eggplant, meat and cheese 2) pasticio - we had never had this before and it was really good. The combination of the beef and lamb was delicious 3) lemon chicken & orzo - this is prepared in a signature Opa lemon marinade which was refreshing and comfort food all in one. The orzo was such a great combination with the chicken Roman was our server. He was very pleasant and funny. We enjoyed conversation and he was very attentive throughout the meal and filled our water frequently.

Restaurant is clean as well as the restrooms. There's a huge parking lot close by. It's in the heart of downtown area. The service is great! All staffs are friendly and accommodating. The foods were good especially the chicken that my hubby and friend ordered as well as our appetizers, the Greek nachos. But I didn't like the moussaka that I ordered. It was super dry, and a bit salty and doesn't have enough eggplants and bechamel cheese. I have to say this is not authentic moussaka. We love Greek and Mediterranean foods and have been to many authentic Greek restaurants and had that even in Greece so there's a night and day difference.

As much as Mazra is great at/known for their meats, they also put so much thought and care into their vegetables. For example, our favorite mezza is their Whole Cauliflower, which is a massive cauliflower head that's roasted and then coated with a lemon tahini dressing. (They also give you more lemon to squeeze on it.) The cauliflower always comes out perfectly roasted; the inner parts are tender and toothsome, while the outer parts are crispy and a deep, golden brown. Another great vegetable option is their Veggie Plate, which is a plate overflowing with delights on a bed of their rice: falafel; a segment of their cauliflower; roasted broccoli and potatoes; their saffron mushrooms; and a halloumi roll. Each item is about as perfect as can be, and the sheer quantity makes it a fantastic deal. Of course, we still love their shawarma plates, which you can get with either chicken or steak shawarma. The meat comes thinly cut and tender, and somehow still a bit juicy! The plates are also a great value, since they come with a ton of great items that pair well with the meat. These include a rich, savory sauce (toum [garlic sauce] with the chicken, tahini with the steak) and two of their amazing sides. My favorite sides are the baba ghannoush (creamy and earthy) and their fries (golden, crispy, and pillowy). They continue improving the space, too. The pickup window makes it so much easier to get takeout, and they've really dialed in the flow of the inside and back courtyard seating areas.

The place was buzzing at that hour. I ordered the lamb chops cooked medium with basmati rice. The lamb was so tender and full of flavor. My husband ordered the Chicken BBQ plate with garlic roasted potatoes. I'm really not into Mediterranean food but I was curious about all the rave about this place and I must say, I loved it! Before our meals, we tried the free Turkish tea, quite strong for me, added several sugar packs but no milk available. However, this place is still a win! The service and ambiance, solid. Welcoming staff. It did not disappoint. I'm coming back!

I came into the restaurant asking how long my order would take, she said 10 minutes. Although there were chairs and tables under an eave, I chose to go to the car. Faviola brought the food to me and it was sprinkling outside! She even came back and gave us extra utensils when she realized there were two of us. All the while smiling:) I ordered via yelp because we were starving and easily this restaurant has their menu in organized and visually appealing. Their descriptions and the variety of selections and customizations on point. My husband said he wasn't hungry but then saw the food and we scarfed it all down. He gave it 8.5 and said would come back. I ordered pickled vegetables which I thought was going to be onions but I think it's actually cabbage. Not my preference so I will take that home to the parents. Did order yogurt dip- husband was a fan. The chicken thigh and filet were so tender. I had put a note on the order for medium rare. I wouldn't call that medium rare but it was tender nonetheless. I'm sad I had to pay extra for a half of a Roma tomato, salad and lavash- the lavash I saw it in the add-ons menu so I assumed it wasn't in there. Ended up with so much lavash. No need to buy extra. The entire thing came up to $63-ish. The food was 4/5 but service was 5/5! I know this economy has everyone struggling. This was probably the most I have spent on Mediterranean food. I would have expected $45-$50. We just came back from Turkey so this would have costed us $15-$20 USD. Portions for rice and meat were good though! All in all- would come back!

Beautiful! I came to…read moreMama Mia on a Saturday evening for a birthday party. The host booked the entire outside patio area, reserving about 15 tables, the back room for serving food, and space for a live singer and dancing. It was absolutely stunning. The restaurant allowed the host to set up a table for decorations and gifts, with custom decorations on each table too. There is a separate entrance for the outside patio that leads directly to the parking lot. This was nice because it made us feel separated from the rest of the restaurant. The patio area is gorgeous. There are grape leaves and vines covering the walls and ceiling. Even when it's sunny out, the plants provide a nice cover that keeps it shady and cool in there. There is also a pretty fountain where you can see birds taking a bath. It is very picturesque. The patio connects to the ballroom, bar, and restaurant if you need to access any of those things. For this event, the back banquet room was used for the food warmers for buffet-style serving. The entrees were pot roast, chicken marsala, and salmon Genovese. The sides were vegetables, mashed potatoes, sautéed mushrooms and bread. They had an employee carving the meat and serving it for the guests. I was unfortunately a bit disappointed with the food. To me, it all tasted quite bland and flavorless. The meat was tender, but lacked a distinct flavor. The vegetables seemed a little undercooked. There was also a spread of appetizers and drinks set out in the dining area (potstickers, teriyaki meatballs, iced tea, lemon water, and lemonade). I was also not pleased by these. The potstickers were alright - a little spicy and tangy. The meatballs were nice and plump, but I did not enjoy the sauce. The drinks were awful. The lemons used in the tea and water tasted almost rancid. The lemonade tasted like a lemon-scented cleaner. It was clearly made with some sort of powdered flavoring that tasted pretty nasty. For dessert, they served tiramisu and ice cream (spumoni maybe?). The tiramisu was delicious. It was incredibly soft and fluffy with a rich flavor. The service was very impressive here. Servers came frequently to clear dishes and bar glasses. They catered to requests well and brought the dessert plates quickly. They were friendly and served the large party of around 90 people efficiently. I would recommend Mama Mia as a party venue but with the caution that the food served (at least for this specific menu) could be improved.
