Came for Sunday brunch. Ambience is super nice, shaded patio area with a lot of plants. Brunch menu was pretty plain. Knocked off a star because it took awhile for the appetizers to come out and we had to flag down our waiter to order our actual food, which took additional 20-30 min to come out. Excellent food excellent service and excellent company. Came here to meet up with my friends from junior high that I keep in contact with. Lots of available parking on the street and nearby. We ordered the skirt steak, the blackened ahi, the shrimp Francese and the Chilean sea bass. Each dish was unique and delicious. I could not choose my favorite. The atmospheres nice and quiet with a chill setting. Maybe because there were no kids around. I advise against bringing the loud ones as it may ruin the serene atmosphere. We had appetizers for dinner. Wonderful assortment! Tasted great! Only downside was it wasn't to ADA friendly. It was a long walk to the front, up the elevator then walk more around the building, thru a doorway ( the rug there is horrible for walkers and old people walking) then down another long hallway, go outside to enter restaurant! We ate at Odeum tonight with some friends. We hadn't been to Odeum in 10 or so years, so we were excited to dine here for dinner tonight. My memories of the food and service were stellar. Tonight's experience didn't meet that expectation on a number of fronts. First we started with cocktails (4/5) and two appetizers: fried calamari (3/5) and ahi tacos (5/5). There were two per order, but packed with fresh/flavorful ahi...easy the best bites my wife and I had tonight. My wife and I both ordered steaks for our entrees, me the bone in ribeye (4/5) and she the filet (3/5). My ribeye was cooked correctly, but was much thinner than I expected for what was advertised as the Cowboy Ribeye. I would call it a cowgirl ribeye. My wife's filet was rare plus, when she ordered her steak temperature medium. She doesn't ever send her food back to get it right in fear of retribution. So I gave her my steak that was closer to medium and I ate her filet. Both steaks were seasoned aggressively, which I appreciated. My main issue with Odeum was the service. While our server, Steve, was pleasant and friendly, he lacked responsiveness. We brought a very nice bottle of wine. We had to request him to open the bottle after being in the restaurant 20-30 mins. Then we had to ask for wine glasses. While 2 of us drank our cocktails, my wife and friend sat drinking water waiting for Steve to get the wine poured. Conversely the service support staff was the opposite of Steve. Their frenetic pace and trying to clear partially finished plates while we are having conversations was frustrating. They had to be told on multiple occasions that we were still eating. This is a pretty small restaurant with hard surfaces so it was very loud, making conversations difficult. All four of us had to lean in to hear each other talk. I'm sure this review reads like I'm a complainer, but I feel like management and patrons should know when a long time successful restaurant has areas that need attention. While I was happy to learn that Odeum was still around after all the years of us being out of the area, I was just disappointed that it was a much different experience than the times we dined here years ago. The bread was probably my favorite part of the meal. It was so crispy and the garlic and butter added really nice flavor to it, I loved it. The Tuscan fries could've used a little more salt to them. The pizza was good as well, but I probably would have preferred to not have the jalapeños in them, but that's my fault for not asking them to take them out. But overall really good pizza. Service was good, and the vibe of the restaurant is great for a nice dinner, I feel like this is a very underrated restaurant in town. read more

A lively neighborhood gem - every table was full, and the restaurant had a very festive vibe. Food presentation was great with generous portions. The crack bread was the standout and a must-order. The Norcino pizza was flavorful but a bit salty, and the radicchio salad was excellent. A couple of misses: our anniversary was noted in the reservation but not acknowledged, and the Spicy Ginger cocktail took an unusually long time to arrive, showing up just minutes before my meal was finished. Odeum is such an amazing restaurant! I love coming here with my friends whenever we want a great meal and a fun night out. The food is incredible and the atmosphere is always great it's a perfect place to relax, enjoy good company, and have an amazing dining experience. Chef Sal does an amazing job. You can really tell the care and creativity that goes into the food, and everything we've tried has been delicious. The service is also some of the best I've ever had. What a great gem in downtown Morgan Hill. I was passing through and looking for a cute place to stop for lunch. I tried the quintet, which is all 5 of their dips with pita bread. It was a delicious selection of dips and the pita was soft fluffy and flavorful. I was also obsessed with the risotto stuffed mushrooms. They could've used a little bit of a crunchy element but the flavors were all there. Overall a great little spot to visit! read more

I have reviewed this restaurant before and commented on the menu, the service, how they allowed me to come and eat although I was a mess with nasty-looking open wounds all over my face and neck (I asked to be seated in the banquet room where no one could see me; my out-of-town guest wanted a last minute change and I could not postpone my surgery... ... ...) But the reason I am reviewing today is, in a word: CARBONARA!!! I had not found any restaurant in MH that serves it! Sicilia in Bocca used to feature it on their menu, I'm sure that Maurizio could make any- and everything (but it wasn't on the menu) Noah's has lots of pasta dishes, Giorgio's, etc. but nope! no one was making it... ... ...FINALLY I saw it "pop" on Odeum. A lot of people think that carbonara is pasta swimming in a heavy cream sauce. Non è vero. I am OBSESSED with this version: it's exactly what carbonara needs to be! The pasta is perfectly al dente, and it is tossed with CHEESE and what I believe to be some pasta cooking water, so it emulsifies and coats the linguine, but does NOT taste like "cream soup" or "butter soup." The pancetta is crispy and well done--they weren't hurrying and they didn't give me "almost-cooked, chewy pancetta" in e.g. a "pancetta mac and cheese." I don't like how dark the restaurant is (and I always sit facing the window, and so I am blinded by the sun... ... ...my friend has old, problematic eyes like I do, so I let him sit facing away from the door/window.) The chairs have significantly improved--they used to be very uncomfortable. I don't usually drink cocktails when I go out, but once a while ago I requested a martini made with very specific modifications and it was PERFECT. I usually go out to lunch vs. dinner and I wish that they were open every day for lunch. Please, please, por favor, don't take this dish off the menu!!! read more

I recently visited Odeum for the first time to celebrate my birthday and had made a reservation for 15 people a week in advance. I also confirmed the reservation both the day before and the morning of to ensure everything was set. Unfortunately, when we arrived, we were informed by the hostess that our reservation had been canceled by the owner due to no confirmation, despite my prior confirmations. While the miscommunication was disappointing, the staff was able to accommodate our group with a table in the back after about 30 minutes, which we appreciated. The food was great and the service was good overall, but it was disappointing not to receive the original outdoor reservation we had planned for on such a special occasion. read more

The atmosphere is calm for lunch which I loved We started with the Tyrokafteri, which might have been my favorite bite. Creamy, and incredibly well balanced. It set the tone for the entire meal. The spicy Caesar salad with grilled chicken was another standout. Crisp, bold, and not shy on flavor, with chicken that was juicy and well seasoned. The grilled vegetable gyro was outstanding. The vegetables were beautifully grilled, smoky, and hearty, making it incredibly satisfying without feeling heavy. Every bite felt intentional and well executed. A special shoutout to the bartender Josh for the mocktails. Each one was creative, balanced, and thoughtfully crafted, making us feel just as included in the experience as cocktail drinkers. Made a reservation on open table for dinner at 5pm. It wasn't busy at 5pm and they offered a high chair or booster seat for the baby and allowed us to pick any spot. We ordered : Stuffed mushrooms- mushrooms topped with cheesy risotto. Very tasty and savory 9/10 Crack bread- buttery , soft , with a sprinkle of cheese and crispy on the edges. This was amazing. 10/10 Margharita pizza - loved the tomato sauce on the thin crust pizza, good amount of cheese. Enjoyable and fresh. 8/10 Skirt steak - served with mash potatoes and asparagus. The seasoning was slightly sweet , while tasty , I thought the other entrees especially the appetizers stood out more. Was too full for dessert but otherwise would've loved to try the butter cake. One of our favorite places to dine and support the local community is a restaurant we revisit often. This Father's Day, we took my husband and son-in-law to one of their favorite spots as well. While it can be quite costly, it's worth it to celebrate a special occasion with loved ones. Thanks to our advance reservations, the staff was able to accommodate our party of six half an hour early, which was a nice surprise. However, parking was a bit challenging that evening, likely due to the many families celebrating Father's Day in downtown Morgan Hill. We ordered several appetizers, including their renowned Polipo. The calamari we tried was very crunchy and flavorful. For the first time, we sampled their Miyagi Oysters and the Grilled Lamb Riblets. The lamb was tender and delicious, with no gamey taste at all. For the main course, my son-in-law chose a brunch item for dinner: Chicken & Waffles. The staff was incredibly kind and accommodating, even though that dish is typically not served at dinner. My husband enjoyed the Halibut, while I had the Shrimp Francese, both of which were delicious. We also ordered a few more dishes (not shown in the pictures) like the Tuscan Fries, Crispy Beef Mac & Cheese, Mediterranean Salad, and Fungi Ripieni. TLDR: Slow service, chef's hair in my food and not given options forced to pay for it, disregarded gluten-free request, waiters did not know menu. At first they were welcoming and accomodated our party. We ordered drinks - I wanted a coffee and asked for a menu or options and if there were flavors. The waiter said they could make espresso beverages but did not provide a menu nor say if there were flavors. I got a latte and it literally just tasted like milk, next to zero coffee flavor (and then in dessert time the menu revealed there were flavor options... I was bummed.) The service, despite us being the only one where was exceptionally slow. One of our members said they were gluten free and the waiter offered options but then one of the options he gave actually was not gluten free when she got her food - waiter could be trained on options. When we got home she got sick... it totally is not on the restraurant for not having a GF menu (i didnt choose the place... ) but if they are told there is a gluten allergy they should be trained.... My lamb burger had a thick coarse hair lodged within the meat. The waiter took it to the chef and came back 10-15 minutes later saying they were already making me another one... Why would I want ANOTHER of something I just had a hair lodged in? The waiter could have offered options instead... a HAIR is pretty nasty. Two other people at the table got the lamb burger too and it ruined their meal because they were looking out for hairs the whole time. They gave us a burger to go because I said I didn't want the burger and the waiter insisted he was already making it so my option was to take it home. So while that is kind, and I do appreciate it... I do really hate hair in my food and so no one wants to eat it... Just given the prices and expectations... it would have been nice to get good service and safe food. One sweet thing was they did have freshly made apple juice my daughter loved and the rest of the food was good. read more

Odeum is such a hidden gem in the little city of Morgan Hill. It is located in the cute downtown area but has their own secluded parking lot which made it very easy to park there. I was able to make a reservation easily on Yelp the day of because I didn't know how busy it would get. I love how they have both an outdoor and indoor seating area. Both have a beautiful modern ambiance with lively music. To start off, the service was amazing. The first time I came here I ordered the gnocchi which I loved so much. It was cooked to perfection with a delicious red spaghetti sauce. However, when I visited this place a few days later they didn't have it but our kind waitress let us know that the kitchen could still make it for us. The chef also gave us some flatbread to sample which was delicious as well. The strawberry cocktail was also pretty good and not too strong. Overall, this spot is a perfect date night spot. Everything is priced averagely for a nicer dining restaurant. The pasta was about $30, drinks about $20. I will definitely be back soon! read more

The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating. When you walk up to the restaurant you have to walk through the outdoor dining area which is not bad. However, the entrance to the actual restaurant only has 1 door and you have guest entering and waiters exiting to serve the guests outside, making things feel very cramped. The restaurant doesn't seat too many so a reservation is definitely recommended. It's nicely decorated, and the low lighting gives it a romantic vibe. I had the curried prawns and they were delicious!! My husband ordered the special- duck. He enjoyed it but said it was slightly dry. Odeum in years past has gotten quite a bit of mixed reviews, often due to the inconsistency of experience and dish execution. However as of late I've been seeing more and more positive reviews and decided to give it a chance. The ambiance was very cozy and modern, I enjoyed how the space seemed to welcome you into the dining room. The service was very prompt and attentive, we really appreciated how smoothly the dinner went. The signature cocktail list impressed me, a lot of interesting options. We ordered the Milk Punch, Straw All Day, and Amarillo by Morning; the highlight was the Milk Punch which was flavorful and smooth. For an appetizer we enjoyed the Polpio which was cooked very well. As for entrees we had the Skirt Steak and Chilean Sea Bass both of which were delicious, I especially enjoyed my Skirt Steak which I actually felt was good value. We finished up having a Chocolate Skillet for dessert which was made well. Despite mixed reviews in the past I feel that Odeum is a quality restaurant for a nice meal, definitely worth heading down to Morgan Hill for. read more

We went here for a team lunch and I have to say the ambiance of this place is extremely welcoming! Very warm and cozy, it truly was a place I wanted to spend time in. The service was also excellent. They really tried hard to be close to fine dining. The servers were helpful and very prompt, the food came out very quickly as well. We started with the Quintet sampler which in my opinion was the best dish. The vegetarian dips were good. The Ricotta was the best in my opinion, and the pita was soft and warm. We got the falafels which were pretty average. The others on my team got calamari and octopus which they liked. I believe their sea food dishes were quite good. For vegetarian entrees, even though their online menu boasts a fair few options there was only a margarita pizza. It was a basic cheese pizza so I was disappointed. We did finish with the latte which was pretty good. Overall the food wasn't something to wish for but still an overall good experience. read more

The service was on point! Johnny was our server and bartender for the night. He was super friendly and very attentive on service and always made sure we were doing great! We started off with the Quintet sampler and a "Fall for you" drink and the apple cider. The sampler was great, If I were to come back though, I deff would only get the spread with the bacon on top. I love savory and all of the spreads were super different and this was the only savory one. We tried almost all of the drinks and the "Fall for you" was by far my favorite (like apple juice). After the first round and the sampler, we got our entrees, in the pictures below, both were sooo creamy and cheesy and flavorful and just absolutely amazing!! Me and my family walked In for our 7:30 reservation at 7:29 and we were told that a family had sat down at our table and the restaurant staff didn't want to "point fingers". I had the lamb flatbread, the ahi rotolo, and the Louisiana Buttercake. The food was off the chain. The flatbread was incredibly delicious, and had the perfect texture. The ahi was seared and cut to perfection. The buttercake was fantabulous. I had a pretty good expresso after enjoying all the foods. I had lunch here with one of my fellow coworkers. He enjoyed his entrée as well, which was a wrap with steak inside of it (I can't remember the exact name of his dish though). Nonetheless, the ambience was pretty chill, and the servers were incredibly friendly and accommodative. I will definitely return to this fine establishment to explore other items on the menu. read more

The reservations were a rough start. Odeum did try to contact me yesterday, it looks like open table was the issue (mostly anyway). When we got to Odeum today, the host was aware about me and what had happened. They explained and were apologetic. I super appreciate the host for all they did and how they treated us once we had arrived (Arisa?, I've botched the name but I hope I'm close). Food: A+ Atmosphere: A+ Staff: AMAZING!!! We were excited to try this restaurant after reading some of the reviews. Unfortunately, our experience was not as great as that of some of the others. When we first arrived, we were told to, "Just wait there!!!" by a waiter. I was a little taken back, but figured that they must be busy (which they were not). Less than a minute later they sat us. It was an odd interaction. They sat us on the back wall, which had several small tables close together for couples. This is not my favorite set up, but again thought that because the place seems to be popular amongst locals, they must need tight seating. As we were seated, I overheard the couple next to us. Say that they had been waiting for over 20 minutes for a dessert. They were obviously frustrated. About five minutes later the dessert arrived, and the waiter offered to take the dessert off the meal, which was kind given their wait. We ordered drinks which came quickly. We ordered the beet salad and mushrooms as side dishes to share for starters. Our mushrooms arrived, which were good. Our waiter then came to take our entrée order and asked if we liked the beet salad, which had never arrived. About 10 minutes later it finally came. They're definitely seem to be a lack of communication between the waiters and the kitchen. We then we're going to try the spring rolls or braised short rib, but both items were out. Given that our experience hadn't been great to this point, we decided to ask for the check and visit a different highly rated restaurant in the area. I came here with the wife last night for Valentine's Day. I have to say that I was quite disappointed in finding out once we were seated that they only had a prix fixe menu for 125 per person. I was hoping to try their full menu and would have appreciated a heads up on the menu when booking the reservation. There was no such message on open table or through text. Felt really unethical and shady tbh. Apart from that the food was.. fine. For 300+ after tax and tip my wife and I were kind of underwhelmed. The seating was super cramped as well even though the restaurant was far from full. Some weird choices on the menu as well. The lamb riblets were.. not great, especially for a Valentine's Day menu. I'm not tryna get my hands messy to pick as a few bones. The ragu and the desert were probably the best items we had. We might be back to try their full menu at some point, but I hope this restaurant is more transparent in the future. We saw a couple and their child leave as well after being seated. read more
