Campbell's is really good -- it's usually perfect when I go. My mom and I got the Apple Dumplings yesterday. The flavors were amazing, but it was a little disappointing that they asked if it was for here or to-go. We said to-go, thinking they'd deconstruct it, but when we got home, all of our ice cream had melted. They always have a special sundae, which I believe changes every week or every few days. You can always count on chocolate and vanilla being available, plus a special flavor that rotates. It's a small spot with limited seating, but the customer service is always great. I got their espresso ice cream. I've had those before in several different places and I was excited for it but they added so much espresso that by the time I got home (7 minutes btw) it was pretty much just liquid at that point. I should always be loyal to Rita's Italian ice. I ordered mango Italian ice with vanilla custard. There was no mango flavor present in the ice. The flavor was comparable to cheap mango flavored candy. It was so bad that I had to force myself to finish it. The vanilla custard was pretty good, nothing extra. I would be down to still try their ice creams and desserts. Just DONT get mango flavored ice. You'll regret it. read more

Oof, what a disappointment. This simply cannot be what people consider good custard in Virginia. Well, at least our boys were satisfied. We chose a strawberry custard, one of their flavors of the day. Custard should be smooth, rich, and slightly denser than your run-of-the-mill ice cream. The custard we got was two scoops of an icy soft-serve with basic strawberry flavor. Nothing special. If this is the texture they're going for, please rebrand: "Campbell's Soft-Serve". At least then people can lower their expectations going in and I can then decide to just go to McDonald's instead. At least their soft-serve is creamier, sheesh. The one thing I will give Campbells: they truly scored on some prime real-estate. We stopped in on 12/22/24 after walking Neabsco. We were really looking forward to some "good" custard. There were two male employees and one female employee working. We ordered and sat down at the table near the back. There was a young man sitting at the bar. The female employee did NOTHING during the time we were there except, flirt with the boy at the bar, flip her water bottle, eat, touch her face and eyes, look at her phone, talk loudly about how she would be a great party host. This "may" be acceptable employee behavior for Campbells but really it is all unacceptable and likely a health code violation too! Now on to the custard, I ordered the Key lime pie which was the color of baby pea food and even if I could get past the off putting color it tatsed DISGUSTING! I guess not every ice cream establishment can be like Nathan's Dairy Bar. To the owners, remember your employees can make or break a customer experience! To the person in charge of the food coloring...make the key lime a brighter/vibrant color so that it enticing rather than baby poop color! read more

The best frozen custard!! We love going to Campbells when visiting family in Woodbridge. Each day has a special flavor, so definitely check out their Facebook to see what it is. Our favorites have been Fruity Pebbles and Rice Krispies. You can't go wrong with just vanilla or chocolate though, they're so good! With each purchase you can also take home a pup cup (doggie ice cream) so we always take advantage of that! You can also grab pints of your favorite flavor, or ice cream cookies! My family and I have been here at least a hundred times (ok, maybe a little less), and I can't believe that I forgot to check in each time. Honestly, it must be the custard (that's not a pitch). This place is very delicious and multifaceted! It's one of my family's favorite "ice cream" shops. With a son who is super picky and a daughter who likes to push the culinary envelope as much as possible, this place offers a wide variety that each can enjoy on numerous occasions. Not only can my kids enjoy their very own and seemingly customized dessert but they can also get it in a cone, a cup, a sprinkle cone, a sugar cone, a waffle cone...so many cones. Best yet, all of this comes in different sizes, which means they can enjoy and the parents can properly monitor their children's sugar intake. They are an extremely dog-friendly establishment. They welcome your furry friend insomuch as they have special treats for him or her. Treats such as puppy ice cream and mini chocolate-covered dog bones. They'll even stick a pic of your pet on their wall enjoying one of their pup-cups. The inside and outside have very little seating but I've never been here and not acquired a table. You can stay inside to play a game of checkers or sit outside and people watch, either is your choice and both are allowable. The custard is delicious and the staff is welcoming. Therefore, I can't think of a reason why you shouldn't check this place out. Bring your kid or the kid inside you and dive into some good stuff. Enjoy! read more

This place is pretty close to my place so I've been here dozens of times. Love their rotation of flavors and specials. They never miss and their custards are always creamy. Most recently we got a Grahamalama Ding Dong Sundae which had two scoops of custard (we had bourbon butter pecan), Nutella, bananas, and graham cracker crumble. It was a delicious and huge cup of custard, definitely meant to share but I could take it down myself if I was really feeling terrible. I've been here several times since it's so close to home and loved what I got each time. This review isn't for the custard, it's for the terrible treatment I received as an Uber driver at the end of my night. I saw they had a flavor I never had and there was no one else ordering (just a guy sitting), so I asked for a scoop since this was my last order before I headed home. As I go to pay, I also told them I was picking up and the cashier cut me off, and said "oh, I can't sell to you because you're a driver" I asked does that go for anything, including water and was told yes, because I am doing a job for them. I asked if drivers are allowed to use the bathroom, to which he said yes, and I made a point that the time it would take me to use the bathroom would be the same or longer than it would for him to sell me anything. He said that the Ice cream could melt, which is why I can't buy anything (didn't make sense), so I asked is it not kept in a freezer until it's picked up? He confirmed it was. I asked how do they know it won't melt on the way, since they don't require drivers to show their insulated bags? Or that a driver is not on a multi-order pickup. No response. Mind you, all this time has gone by and me and my 1 scoop and the order could have been out the door. I commented that if this was Campbells policy, it should be posted; it wasn't at the register, on the door, in the driver app, anywhere. Being cut off, told I'm not allowed to purchase anything in the store, and being told it was unwritten policy made me not only feel embarrassed, but the whole interaction felt gross and dehumanizing, as if independent contractors doing 3rd party delivery don't patronize these businesses any other day. I've literally never had a single restaurant deny me the option to even purchase a beverage during my shift. Like, how cruel is that? I loved their custard, but on principle alone, Campbells will never get another cent from me. I'll just drive to Goodies in Alexandria instead. read more

Oooommmmmmggggg!!! I could kick myself because it has taken me this long to get here!!! Well this is my second time in a week, don't judge me ..... As soon as we hit the door we were greeting with warm smiles and an eagerness to help. I'm assuming it was the owners son since he looked like a younger version of him. He was very patient while we decided what we wanted. Portion sizes are very generous, my two scoops may have need three or four anywhere else. The custard is custardly thick. You know it's real when you can turn your spoon upside down and it sticks like it's meant to be there!! You had me holding on to every bite. I was so torn, I wanted to eat it slow to savor the taste but fast enough do that it didn't melt. If you like walnuts, the wet walnuts are fresh!! The line was literally out the door when my friends and I decided to try this small family owned shop so we knew it had to be good! There were so many dessert options that I'll have to make more trips to the area in order to try them all. I was pleasantly surprised at the number of scoops that comes with each size cone or cup! I was in the area over the summer and was looking for some good ice cream. Through Yelp I found Campbell's Frozen Custard and highly recommend this place. The custard is amazing. Milwaukee's custard use to be my favorite local frozen custard, but to me its not the same anymore. One of my all time favorite places is Carl's in Fredericksburg VA. I live in the Tysons area and dont make it to Fredericksburg often and, well one day I will need to pick up Carls and on my way home pick up Campbell's and do a side by side test, but I think they are neck and neck. I think the chocolate here is a bit better than Carl's but both are amazing. If your looking for great, frozen custard, Campbell's is worth the trip. The employees who work there are very friendly as well. They have awesome cookie sandwiches as well. read more

I came here because I had a craving for a brownie sundae. Service was fine and fast. However I sat down to eat at the bar, shortly after a young man came in with a dog and also sat at the bar. He allowed his dog to prop on the bar (which I thought was concerning for a restaurant) but what was more concerning was that the young female server came over and played with the dog then turned around and went back to serving ice cream without ever washing her hands. I have been dying to come here after reading all the reviews. From checking out the yelp menu photos I originally thought they had a lot of flavors, but they really don't. They have chocolate and vanilla and 2 special of the day flavors. Which when we went were both two peanut butter type flavors. We weren't really in the peanutbhtter mood so I got vanilla and my husband got chocolate. Overall I was just disappointed I thought there would have been more choices. Don't get me wrong, the custard is very good it's just I had higher expectations if there being other flavors . I think we wouldn't have left so disappointed if both special flavors weren't peanut butter based.
