My friend and I visited Dok Khao in January and I am still thinking of it to this day when I think of Thai food. Absolutely DELICIOUS! The atmosphere was very nice and the ambiance was very mellow. Service was incredibly quick and we thoroughly enjoyed our time. I ordered the street noodles and the kids chicken fried rice because I couldn't choose between the two. I am very glad I ordered both and had enough to take home for lunch the next day. The Crab Rangoon were also delicious and a great dish to share. Food was great. If you like spicy, the beef pad kapow is a must! The menu says the Bangkok wings are spicy, but they are mild at best, more of a sweet and spicy. The Pad Thai was good and filling. Unfortunately the service was not the best, server did not care to refill our waters. Ventured out to Dok Khao and decided to dine in for the first time, even though I've ordered from here several times before. The space was really cute! It's thoughtfully designed to seat a good number of people despite being on the smaller side. I loved the vibrant colors and floral décor -- it gives the whole place a fun, cute vibe. I ordered the Pad See Ew, and it was my first time trying it here -- it was great! The noodles had the perfect texture and were cooked just right. I also ordered the calamari and the duck roll. Calamari is usually a go-to for me, and I tend to order it anywhere I see it on the menu, but I was highly disappointed by Dok Khao's. It was overly greasy and lacked flavor, so I definitely wouldn't recommend it. The duck roll was also underwhelming -- overly crispy and crumbly, to the point where it fell apart and was just too much to comfortably eat. read more

We hosted our Bookclub here and it was a great hit. The food was amazing and they were able to accommodate our group of 10 even though they don't offer reservations on a Saturday. The place is super adorable and their drinks were also amazing. The place offers a very nice atmosphere without it being overwhelming with noise. The server was great and was able to handle our big group with no problems at all. Did I mention the food is delicious? Will definitely be back for a date night. read more

My friend who's in the Navy was in Norfolk and decided to take a day trip to Prince William County in April 2021 to meet me most of the way in my direction (Anne Arundel County, MD). We found a solid Thai place, Dok Khao, in a nice outdoor shopping area called Stonebridge at Potomac Town Center. Service was good. The decor is fancy looking with plants, etc. I got Pad Thai, which was delicious. I realized this is the same place I've been to in Columbia, MD in March 2022 & June 2024. Bartender Bee made me my first-ever Iced Ube Latte. Ube is a purple yam, whose flavor Google AI describes as a combination of vanilla, pistachio and a hint of coconut. It was so good that I ordered one more. The drink was caffeine free--no espresso. I also had the Mango Sweet Sticky Rice. Terrible terrible terrible food! DON'T BE DECEIVED BY THEIR DECOR! It's the moment when you should not judge by its cover. If you are from heart of NOVA, it will disappoint you miserably!!!! I had Pad Thai and Sakura noodle on seasonal menu that said recommended by Chef a day before Mother's Day. First of all, when we got our food, our food DID NOT look like one on the menu. We ordered food based on the picture on the menu which looked like it had a lot of veggies on top, but what we got was just a lump of noodles LITERALLY. It looked sooo different from photo that we initially thought we got wrong food and I had to ask server. It was ridiculous because even the server said the food had all the ingredients that said on the menu but couldn't say it looked like the photo they had on the menu. Honestly, IT IS A SCAM IF YOU PUT PHOTO ON THE MENU AND YOUR FOOD DOESN'T EVEN LOOK LIKE IT!!! I attached photo for anyone who is curious what I meant by a lump of noodles. Also even Pad Thai, which is a basic in Thai cuisine, seems to miss a lot of ingredients that supposed to go in. It looked like someone who doesn't even know Thai cuisine tried to just replicate the dish by the name of food. Noodles were sooo overcooked for both that I felt like they served food that they wanted to throw away from miscooking. We were so upset and food was so terrible that we left both plates nearly more than half left. I didn't even want them for to go or taste them after that moment. Service was terrible as well. Our server didn't show up after taking our order until we were ready to head out. I love coming to a Thai restaurant! We came here when it first open around 2019 or 2020 and was disappointed. We decided to give this location a second chance. I noticed the menu was updated, they had more varieties of entrees and desserts added to the menu. We arrived to the location and were seated immediately. The server introduced herself and was quick with service. We ordered drinks and appetizers. The crab Rangoon was good but slightly warm. We ordered our entrees. My husband got the yellow curry said it was spicy and delicious compared to other Thai restaurants we have been too. I ordered the pad si ew it was good but the flank steak beef was a bit tough to chew. Lastly we finished with desserts, my daughter got the lava cake which she said was 100/10. I got the classic sticky rice with mango to remind me of grandma sweet treat when I come home after school. Overall I recommend highly of this location. There is a pink telephone booth decorated with flowers as you enter the glass-enclosed dining room and bar-- it's very pretty. Since it was a cool day, I started with the Tom Yum soup with many mushrooms and a couple pieces of juicy shrimp. It had a little kick, but wasn't too spicy. It was right at the edge of too sweet, but didn't go over the top and was the star of my meal. I'd return for it. Their Seafood Pad Thai came with shrimp (3-4), a scallop, and squid (mostly). I would've liked a little more seafood in mine, but it was flavorful and not too sweet as pad Thai can sometimes be. The Thai Tea was good. This is one of my favorite Thai restaurants to dine in here in the DMV, their food is consistently good and their customer service is always great. The restaurant itself if located in a very nice shopping center with plenty of parking and is centrally located by Potomac mills mall. It's great for small groups and large and is a very family friendly restaurant. I don't think I've ever gone and had to had a reservation or experienced a long wait. The portions are large. We had Thai tea. I liked it but it was too sweet for my husband. All 3 of our dishes had a sauce that was sweet. My husband and son didn't like their dishes. The beef dish I had was good but nothing I'd crave. The meat was very tender. The curry puffs were good. Dessert- the Tai Tea crème brûlée lacked flavor but it wasn't too sweet which was good. We got the street noodles, mango boba, matcha boba, and healthy rolls--which was more than enough for the two of us. The prices are a bit steep ($7-10 for non alcoholic drinks) and $20+ for entree. We love this place! Food is always fresh and delicious. Wonton soup is so yum! We got the dumplings as well and they give you a hefty side of dumpling sauce! Plants on the tables, on the shelves, and hanging from the ceiling. It is a vibrant location, but it also gives off a beach vibe with the aquatic animals around the restaurant. We ordered the Crispy Salmon Rolls as an appetizer. Our entrees were Duck Basil, and Branzino, both served with steamed vegetables and rice. The branzino was fried to perfection. Each bite was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, pretty much the perfect texture. The taste was bland. There was no seasoning, it simply tasted fried. The steamed vegetables, and rice were also plain. If you are a person who likes seasoning or heavy flavor, make sure you use the sauce. Overall, The Dok Khao is a Thai* restaurant which does extremely well with its diverse menu, sauces, and its textures. Their food without the sauce can be bland, however, I DO believe that it is by design (also could be the particular dishes we ordered). Seating options include tables, booths, and a well-stocked bar with a wide variety of drinks. Although reservations aren't accepted, we were seated within 20 minutes, with nearby stores to explore while waiting. We started with the Crispy Fried Calamari, served with sweet chili sauce. Our entrées included the Lychee Duck Curry, offering a perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors; the Crispy Whole Flounder with tamarind chili sauce; and the classic Pad See Ew with beef, all of which were delicious. The Thai tea was also excellent. The extensive drink and cocktail menu is worth trying, and the dessert menu features pastries, waffles, ice cream, and sticky rice. My friend and I enjoy exploring Thai restaurants together, and we found Dok Khao after seeing an Instagram reel. They are known their aesthetic desserts, so we drove over half an hour to see if it was worth the hype. We stopped by yesterday evening for dinner, and were seated upon arrival. The food came out quickly after we placed our order. YELLOW CURRY (W/ CHICKEN) - 17.95 This came with a sizable bowl of yellow curry filled with chicken, potatoes, and carrots. The curry itself was very coconut milk heavy and creamy, but lacked depth and spices. It tasted pretty bland, with a 1D flavor profile. Additionally, the curry was supposed to be medium-level spice, but it wasn't spicy at all. The chicken breast were OK and absorbed the curry well. However, the potatoes and carrots were cut into big, awkward pieces. We were hungry, so we devoured the food, but it was not impressive. CRISPY PORK BASIL - 21.95 The deep-fried pork belly pieces were cut into uneven, sized chunks, making it awkward and uncomfortable to eat. To make matters worse, the fried parts were incredibly stale and tough, making it hard to chew, so it was practically inedible. The sauce was extremely disappointing -- it lacked the expected basil flavor and tasted more like store-bought teriyaki sauce. The crispy pork basil was a complete flop, and we were shocked by its poor quality and execution. VOLCANO THAI TEA - 13.95 After two subpar entrees, we had very low expectations for the iconic volcanic Thai tea bingsu. The dessert came wrapped in hard plastic, and when we pulled the plastic off, the cream cheese mousse and bingsu cascaded over the plate like molten lava. The presentation was very nice, and we had fun with the "volcanic" effect. To our surprise, the bingsu had a smooth texture, with a strong Thai tea flavor in each bite. The cream cheese mousse added a richer flavor, while the vanilla ice cream, graham cracker crumble, and berries were great complements. The dessert was not too sweet, and we were impressed with how tasty the bingsu was. Even though dinner was a complete flop, the dessert was delightful. I would come back for the Volcano Thai Tea, but I wouldn't try their savory options again. read more

This restaurant is super top tier and serves amazing Thai food!! The inside is decorated so well and they were able to easily sit our party of 12 (including 2 kids)! The staff are also very attentive, kind, and helpful. We did family-style and ordered a BUNCH of dishes and almost all of them were amazing! (Only complaint is the lamb in the massaman curry was a little tough and cold on the middle of each piece, but we forgave them because of the rest of the dishes haha) My personal favorites were the Cry Baby Noodles, Guay-Tiew Tom Yum, Lychee Duck Curry, and the Dok Khao Pad Thai. My brother-in-law, who lived in Thailand for 2 years, chose all the dishes and loved them all. This is THE place to eat when you're in Woodbridge and craving Thai food. The vegetables were cooked well with still hanging a crunch to the Chinese broccoli. The pork belly was a DISAPPOINTMENT. They looked good, but they were rubbery. This means they were reheated versus being made fresh to the order so that they would come out crunchy. Nothing worse than rubbery pork belly. Amazing Thai Food with Incredible Service! Don Khao exceeded all our expectations! From the moment we walked in, the decorations and ambiance were absolutely on point, setting the perfect mood for our dining experience. The food? Simply amazing. We started with the larb gai, which was a heavenly blend of sweet, spicy, and savory flavors--truly a flavor explosion you can't imagine until you taste it. We also tried the duck rolls, which were delicious but could use a bit less breading and more duck to really shine. The street noodles were regular degular, but the Pad Ka Pow was solid and one of the better versions compared to others in the area. The true star of the night was the soft-shell crab curry--WOW! When I say we ate every last bite, I mean it. Nothing on that plate was spared! This dish alone is reason enough to visit Don Khao. What made the experience even more special was that I brought my older family members, who have a very traditional Vietnamese palette and don't usually stray far from familiar cuisines. This was our go to place since moving to the area 5 years ago. The food is still delicious, but not worth the price increases. It's understandable that that the economy is seeing higher prices for goods, but the price increases at this establishment are excessive and the food is not worth the $$$. 2 pad Thai + 2 crab Rangoon = $78! Kind of feels like they are taking advantage of customers and the current economic situation. Time to find a new Thai spot. read more
