This is good basic mediterranean food, which is hard to find here in Atlanta. Having come from the Detroit area, I was spoiled in finding Greek, Syrian, Lebanese and other mediterranean cuisines all around me. This place qualifies as good middle eastern food in my book. For less than $7, at lunchtime M-F, you can get the Business Lunch Special. This includes a sampler of shish kabob, kafta kabob, and gyro meat over some rice and salad, with a side of pita bread, and a drink. Whew, that was a mouthful, literally and figuratively. The food was good, but really not great. My favorite part of the medley was the Gyro meat. I'm not sure I would order the other items separately, but as part of the meal it was okay. Hands down my favorite place for lunch ITP. My brother and I have been to Emory for school, work, and events over the years. Mediterranean Grill is on the way, calling for us. And we comply. When he first took me there, he ordered for me at the counter. I rarely let someone order for me, but he said we MUST GET THE LUNCH SPECIAL. I could see dudes grilling away behind the counter and calling out numbers. The portions were huge. The food might take a while to come out, just because the place is usually really busy... but when it does, OH MAN. OH MAN. The lunch special platter is comprised of 3 different kinds of meat, cucumber salad, rice, and pita bread. I repeat, the portions are very generous! The special even comes with a regular-sized drink! I was so grateful that my bro would "splurge" on me like that (turns out the special is like $6.50 including the drink; good work, bro). The sides and sauces are all flavorful, and the pita bread is all chewy and warm. The meatball and thinly sliced beef. The steak is hit or miss. My bro gets double steak and no meatball, so I guess you can substitute to your liking. I honestly haven't gotten anything else there. I heard the baklava and fried squid things are good, and maybee I'll try them one day if I go with someone besides my brother. My how things have changed. I got a take out order for a gyro plate, and a lamb shank. Gyro slices were way too dried out...and even worse, they were in an inexplicable pool of oil. Horrible. The lamb shank itself was also on the dry side, and the rice, while tasty, no longer had raisins or almonds, and was also over-dry. Are you sensing a trend here? This is one of our favorite places....but if this happens again...it's hard to justify coming back for subpar food. read more

Mediterranean Grill provided the catering for our wedding reception in April. I can honestly say that I've never had food as good as theirs at a wedding! We got tons of compliments. We loved that we were so easily able to accommodate both vegetarians and meat eaters, and for a very reasonable price. I also cannot say enough about the excellence of the service. Emad and his staff took care of everything, and were extremely sweet and attentive. On top of everything else, Emad insisted on giving us free meals whenever we went by the store to drop of a deposit or pay the final bill. Med Grill is located conveniently on the corner of Clairmont and North Decatur. This is the perfect location for Emory students who want... really anything other than campus food. Their hummus, babaganoush, tahini sauce, yogurt dressing, pita, kabobs, and falafel are all solid choices. I would not recommend eating inside as the ambiance is not one to write home about, so takeout might be your best option. While Med Grill is not the most authentic Mediterranean food, it is pretty good when you are craving Mediterranean flavors. And HUGE plus, they DELIVER!!! read more

I've never been disappointed in any dish I've had at this Med Grill. The falafel is great, the kebobs are flavorful and good. My only small compliant is the pita bread can be hit or miss. Some days it's tender and good while other days it can be dry and tough around the edges. The feta cheese and the pickle sides offered are a great compliment to the meal. I love how thick their tzatziki sauce is. My best friend and I drive all the way from McDonough to eat here when we start craving Mediterranean. read more

I don't know how I've missed reviewing Med Grill until now. Let's just say I get lunch from here at least every other week and it's the one place that makes me feel giddy as I drive back to the office with my treats. Of course, I do take-out because of time constraints: there is plenty of seating should you wish to order at the counter and then dine there. It gets crazy at peak times, though! Pretty much everything they serve is wonderful. I'm a huge fan of the Business Lunch ($7.60 during the workweek), basically their combo platter at a wallet-friendly price. Three of their meats are served on a bed of yellow rice, with a generous green salad. Of the gyro, kebab (chunks of grilled beef), and kufta kebab (basically sausage), I love the first two best. But with tzatziki yogurt sauce and their warm pita, all three make for a delicious sandwich. Washed down with sweet tea, there's not a better lunch for that price in the Emory area. Other offerings, such as the lentil soup, calamari, or salads, are just really great examples of what they should be. The food always tastes fresh and delicious and the service is always friendly and smiling. The one thing I'll say is that if you get a sandwich, it tends to be bland unless you overload it with tzatziki sauce and the hot sauce (both are provided with your order). Other places may apply these sauces before they wrap the sandwich and let you go. Med Grill hands it to you dry or just with tahini, and if you don't take advantage of the additional sauce, you may not maximize the sandwich's full deliciousness. I'm positive I wrote a review for the grill but it's vanished! No worries, as i'll consider this an unofficial update. My last time out I gave the grill 2 stars, complaining about their bland hummus and dry falafal, so about a year later, I thought i'd try these guys again to see if they were better than I remembered. To their credit, they have extremely fast service, decent portion sizes and fair prices. It seems like not two minutes after sitting down, my plate was ready at under $6, so kudos to the great service. I ordered their standard gyro wrap with all the trimmings (Lettuce, tomato, sauce) and while the wrap was twice the size of wraps at other greek locations, the flavor just didn't come. No spices, no real benefit of the sauce and nothing really stood out. I'd have hoped that the side order of falafal (65 cents) would provide better flavor but no luck there, and frankly it was still a little dry. I truly want to like this place, and i've given them three stars here instead of two because I realized I was only complaining about flavor, not the tenderness of the meat (okay, the falafal needs some TLC, I ain't too proud to beg guys...sigh, yea I took it there). This could be altered with a little season and hot sauce on my part, although to be fair, I added nothing, my mistake! I want to say i'm a huge fan, because it's close and I love my mediterrenean, but for now, my tastebuds just aren't feeling it. read more

Business Lunch Plate was 6.49 and came with soda..but the salad is a bit depressing with one tomato.. and the dressing needed abit more salt. Yes, the food is ok, not bad, but it lacked something..maybe mint in the yogurt sauce.. I dunno it just didn't really do it for me. The meat was juicy, but it didn't look very appetizing, but don't let the look of it scare you... it tastes better then it looks. I skipped the rice-o-roni that came with my dish- the rice was a bit overcooked, and it tasted like rice-o-roni (which is not bad.. but not great..) . They gave ample meat.. the meat needed to be more salty..but hey better then too salty I guess. Overall for 6.49- you should not be complaining- tastes way better then McDonald's and it's healthier for you! read more

Oh, oh. I'm at my house and I've been drinking and I'm hungry. I've got no food in the house and am in no condition to drive. Instead of the good old fashioned choices of Chinese or pizza, mix your booze with Greek food. Med. Grill time. It's good times. Falalfel, kabobs, salads, olives, feta, baked spinach puff things. They can all be delivered to your house if you live in the Decatur area. Genius. They do go through bouts of inconsistency and I've had extra tahini, no tahini, one piece of feta in the salad, swimming in feta in the salad, etc. When it's good, it's good though and gets an extra star for delivery for me. The food is good and rarely disappoints. Moderately priced and gets to you pretty quick. I can tell you that this place has saved my ass a couple of times when I've had a "lively" Saturday or Sunday at the house. Also, the homemade hot sauce is awesome. Burp. read more

I've been eating here for about 10 years on and off, and I don't know why I keep going back. My Grandpa was from the middle East, so I grew up eating this kind of food. It doesn't even compare to the taste of what I had at home. They don't put nearly enough meat on the plate or in the Gyro for what you have to pay. The small hummus is $5 and I ate it in about three bites! Overall, they are way overpriced for the amount of food that you get and the poor quality of it. To top everything off, the owners are rude. Their employees however are kind. I don't need to give my money to a restaurant that doesn't appreciate my business. This is my last time there. read more

Not feeling the hype. Not bad, not great. It can make a good take out dinner if you can't think of anything else, but is not a place I would think of as memorable or worth going back to especially. The price is right, and I think 3 stars are called for, but it's not like "WOW!" It's more like "okay, this is pretty good, I can deal with this, I'm glad this place is here and might come back some time." I'm pretty sure every student at Emory has tried Med Grill, whether it be in the form of dine in, delivery, or takeout. I've eaten here many times and always stick to 2 orders: the gyro plate and the lunch combination special. Gyro plate: This comes with pita, rice, a Greek salad, and slices of gyro meat. The hot sauce and tzatziki sauces on the side complement the gyro meat very well. The meat has always been tender, but very salty. The salad is hit or miss, since it's often either over- or under-dressed. It's a substantial amount of food for $9. Lunch Special: The lunch special, only available Monday-Friday, consists of shish kabob, kufta kabob, and gyro meat, along with the usual sides of rice, pita, and greek salad. The gyro remains tender, but I've found the shish kabob and kufta kabob to be tough and dry on multiple occasions. Drenching it in the tzatziki makes it more palatable. All in all, it's a great deal for only $7.60. Baklava: I've found the baklava here to be tooth-achingly sweet and a little bit soggy. The crispness of the pastry is definitely lost under a heavy blanket of sugary syrup. Try Med Grill if you're looking for large portions, decent gyros, and fast service. Whenever I've gone to pick up my order or dined in, I've found the service to be brusque and not really friendly. However, they've never been rude and I'm just there for some quick grub. read more

How do they get it so freaking creamy? This inquiring mind wants to know so I can make my hubby try to copy it. The b-man's special is the place to be if this is your first time. All of the meat on the special is good--who knows which you'll fall in lust with? It's so nice to be able to have 3 different types of meat, each with its own flavor and spice. The interior is very casual, and this is an order at the counter and then wait for your number kind of place. But hey, that's okay with me. Heeeero. Euuuuuro. Giiiiiiiiiro. How DO you pronounce that word? Whatever ya wanna call it, this stuff is solid. The sizable chunks of sirloin in their kufta kebob wraps require 100% utilization of my back molars, but I work diligently and willingly. I don't know what crazy awesome seasoning they use to marinate the meat, but it tastes a lot better than some of the steaks I've had at fancy schmancy steakhouses. The Tahini sauce keeps the wrap grounded and the lettuce leaf helps you delude yourself into thinking you've met your vegetable intake req for the day. My sole grievance, albeit minor, is that the tomato slice sometimes looks a bit...well, soggy. But hey, they weren't trying for gourmet anyway. Med Grill is my "I'm hungry but can't think of what I want" go-to place. For starters, the staff is great. They'll teach you how to order in Greek/Lebonese/???? (not sure what they speak, oops...) if you ask them to. The owner is AWESOME, always gives me free stuff when he's at the register and is very nice in general. If you're an Emory student (or claim to be one) they'll give you a free drink. And the prices are great for lots of yummy food that will fill you up but is fresh, healthy and DELICIOUS. I almost always get the felafel sandwich, which is done just right. The felafel's aren't overcooked, they just barely stick together - perfect. The hummus and pita is probably the best hummus I've had in a restaurant. I usually get a large and take it home and snack on it for a couple of days. The Greek potatoes are AMAZING - never greasy, perfectly salty and just plan tasty. Overall, Med Grill is the kind of place that I hope never closes and never changes. It's perfect as is. read more

What a delightfully tasty surprise in a small no thrills restaurant. We were very hungry and had no idea of the portion sizes and ordered too much food. We all ordered gyro sandwiches, some with potatoes and mine with salad. That was the best gyro I've had in Georgia so far. The lamb actually tasted like lamb, the tzasiki sauce was on the side so you could control the amount and did I mention it was giant, well it was. In addition to the sandwiches we also ordered dolmas and spanakopita. The dolmas, was ok, I've had worst. I didn't try the spanakopita (too full) but my overstuffed friends were very determined to eat all of it, even at the risk of exploding, so I'm going to say that must have been very good. I look forward to another gyro sandwich, I'll go really hungry! Overall, we had a good time talking, hanging out and eating; in my book that is a good time. The only warnings I issue is order light and if you're still hungry order more because the portion sizes are huge. read more

I ordered a big lunch for a meeting yesterday. I ate a grilled vegetable sandwich and had pistachio baklava for dessert. It was delicious!

Due to my forgiving nature, I decided to give Mediterranean Grill another chance. I visited them on a rainy Sunday afternoon, and I experienced a short wait of 4 minutes before my order was taken. I did not receive a greeting until three minutes in, and I'm not entirely sure it was a greeting, as when I looked up, no one was making eye contact. No biggie. I ordered a falafel sandwich with hot sauce and a Greek salad with no olives and extra feta cheese to go. He initially rang me up $9 something, but after I mentioned the combo special, it came to $7 and change. I added a pistachio baklava after I already paid, because it looked that good. Within ten minutes, I received my food and made my way home. Togo packaging, simple styrofoam and plastic bag, kept food safe for the short car ride and rainy weather. So to preface my review, an attempt to gain the reader's trust, I must say that I've had many meals with falafel, Greek salad, baklava, or a combination of those. The Greek salad was great. The feta cheese was delicious and fresh, making me thankful I ordered extra, and the Greek vinagerette complimented the other salad components well. The falafel sandwich itself was not that great. I only stomached half of it before trying to douse it with a combination of hot sauces. When that didn't work, I gave up and searched for the baklava. I recently had amazing baklava in New Jersey, setting my bar much higher. The baklava here is good, but not great. Definitely worth of a 7/10 rating itself. Considering the poor falafel and sub-average ordering experience, I think this place is worth a solid 3 stars but not four. It's not something I'd go outta my way for, but if I'm nearby, it's a decent option. Make sure, however, that you visit within their operating hours and not a second more, ha. I have never actually eaten at any of the locations, but we use Med Grill several times a year to cater various events. They deliver everything you need and help set up, which is wonderful. The price is excellent, especially for the amount of food we end up with. If we say we are feeding 50, we end up getting food for 70 or 80. We ALWAYS have tons left over and this is after everyone has gotten 2nds and 3rds. They are very generous. I've yet to hear any complaints about the taste either. In fact, we are having an annual lunch next week and I've gotten about 15 emails already asking (hoping) that we are having Med Grill again. One of these days, I'll have to actually visit a store. read more

Consistently good, but never great. I actually eat here about once a month, the food is generally consistent, and the people are nice. The pita is so, so, the chicken is dry, but the majority of their other meat sandwiches are quite good. They have an excellent spicy sauce as well that adds a nice kick. Excellent food, amazingly friendly staff, quick service...just an all-around outstanding experience every time I went there--and I went there A LOT. Try everything on the menu, from vegetarian options to the meatiest meat sandwich you can find. Hummus is outstanding, and they are so generous with the pita. I once had an event catered by Med Grill. Emad sat down and worked with me to draw up a really delicious menu at a very reasonable price. So, I ordered delivery from this restaurant on a very cold night in Atlanta... technically Decatur. I didn't bother going out as Decatur is really nothing special. Nor was this restaurant. The food was cheap and good, but not great. I got the veggie plate (hummus, baba ganhoush, falafel and tabbouleh), a large Greek Salad and the rice pudding. The hummus was pretty disappointing, maybe it was a texture thing as it was soooo smooth (which to some is probably a good thing, but I like mine with a little chunk in it). I also didn't think it was very flavorful and am really surprised at how many people said the hummus was good, if not the best ever. However it was good when spread over a pita with tabbouleh. The falafel was ok, but nothing to scream about. Again, it was decent, but I'd recommend somewhere else if you have above average expectations for Greek food. read more

Used to be a go-to delivery or take out place, but the past few orders have been disappointing. The portion sizes are half of what they used to be. We ordered a large hummus, large baba ghanoush, and tzaziki with pita in addition to gyros and there was 1 pita for all 3 dips. I've been visiting the Decatur location for more than a decade. It's definitely gone down hill over the years but it's still mostly okay. I suspect it survives because of the location...a congested area where you've got Emory students and staff and many other people who are going to go for relatively cheap Mediterranean food. The good: As noted, relatively cheap. Almost all entrees under $12. Order with the cashier and then get your food at the counter. No pretense, no waiters. Decent, very basic fare: gyros, gyro platters, kabobs, babaganoush, etc. Baba is usually good, though lately seems more watery. The bad: Limited options; relies mostly on the standard sliced gyro meat. Lamb shank is more fat and bone than lamb. Bad value. Falafel balls are very dry and inferior to several other places in the area. Pita bread is dry and thin, much like the kind that comes 12 to a bag at the grocery store. Poor ambience and tables are often dirty. This place is 'okay' at best. It's convenient if you live nearby. But for better food of this sort, try Mediterranean Bakery and Sandwich (fantastic falafel as well as really good shawarma and other items) or Ameer's (great falafel but their meat entrees are a mixed bag). read more

This is my new favorite spot for Greek in the Decatur area. Stumbled upon it driving around after a meeting. The "business combo" is a great deal. You get a nice portion of gyro, shish kabob and kufta kabob. Also comes with salad, rice and a drink. The tzasiki sauce is refreshing with the meat. Restaurant has about a dozen tables or so. Order and pickup at the counter. Service is fast and friendly. Since it's the holidays, they're running a special to purchase a $40 gift certificate for $25. They've got pretty decent mediterranean food, especially the gyros. It's consistent, but probably wouldn't be higher than a 3.5 rating. However, watch out if you get a to-go order. I ordered a greek salad to-go and the girl working there packing the to-go orders had a bad attitude (didn't seem happy working there). When I received the to-go bag all tightly tied up, I wanted to double-check and asked her if the tzatziki sauce and salad dressing were in there. She didn't even give a polite, articulate answer. She just nodded her head slowly like, "yesss. duhh.... now take your food and go." Not wanting to fight her unprofessional attitude, I just left.....only to find later that she did NOT include the salad dressing. It's might not be so bad if a side salad didn't come with the dressing, but it's definitely not fun eating an entree salad with just hot sauce and tzatziki. This place is fine if you want a quick gyro meal, but if you want to be treated with more respect as paying customers and enjoy mediterranean food that is a notch or two higher, then go to Cafe Sababa in Dunwoody, right off of 285. read more

Med Grill never lets me down! I have tried other mediterreanean resturants and they are not as consistent as Med Grill. My personal favorite is Shishkabob sandwich combo with potatoes. The meat is always tender and the potatoes are always fresh. If I'm with a friend and I'm really hungry I will order the calamari plate, which is well proportioned. Also if your an emory student you don't pay for drinks. Free is always a good thing... well, usually a good thing. Skip Mcdonalds and grab yourself some healthy food from Med Grill on Decatur and Clairmont. read more

Pretty standard Mediterranean fare with falafels, schwarma, salads, etc. The extra star is for the friendly cashiers who take your order (and money) and the quick turnaround to having your food ready. Never had to wait more than 10 minutes max during lunch rush hour. Very fair pricing if you get the business lunch combo for the large quantity of food and included drink. read more

I'd been to the location in Midtown once and liked it quite a bit. At this one, however, the food was only mediocre and there were some serious cleanliness problems. First, there were tiny gnats (flies? I'm not sure what exactly they are) all over the area near the garbage can by the soda dispenser. I'm not talking one or two that got in from outside. There were dozens of them crawling around, mostly on the counter directly above the garbage can. Once seated, there was one bug that was persistently flying around our booth. It eventually made it's way onto my SO's plate and boldly skipped its way through his potatoes as dude tried to wave it away. He eventually had to squish it. Ew. Now, as for the food itself, the chicken in my sandwich was sort of dry. My SO's falafel was pretty good, as were his Greek potatoes (before the gnat/fly/flying insect got to it). But none of it was anything to write home about. I briefly scanned the other reviews and saw nothing about bugs, so maybe this is a very recent (and hopefully temporary) development. More like 3.5 stars. A very good lunch option near Emory and northern Decatur area. The "Business Man Lunch Combo" on Monday to Fridays is an excellent value, and for vegetarians, the Veggie Plate or the Falafel Sandwich combo taste great as well. So why only 3-stars? There's been some excellent Mediterranean restaurants that have sprung up in Atlanta in recent years. In comparison, these guys are really fast and provide excellent value at lunch time. However, it is not something that you would entertain company with. A few years ago, I would have given these guys 4 stars, but in light of the excellent alternatives, I will have to bump these guys down to 3-stars. read more
