A quick and affordable bite to eat in Pioneer Square. The gyros are delicious as they are large for the size. It's also pretty fun to sit out on the patio and listen to the banter of the customers of the bar next door. All the chairs are also equipped with tennis ball legs like a retirement home, but I guess it gets the job done, I suppose. Solid food, solid service every time I come down here (then again I always get the same lamb gyro). They're quick to get the food out and I've never been upset with what I've gotten taste-wise. This place would deserve four stars but I wish there was something that could be done about the flies buzzing around (which is why I almost always get my food to go); and once last year a friend and I tried to redeem a perfectly good, not yet outdated 2-for-1 coupon from a savings book and we were told they were no longer accepting them. What?! It was a bit shocking, why have your business listed if you won't honor the coupon? When I'm craving a gyro or a cream cheese hot dog for lunch, I come here. Good food, affordable and the servers are really nice. Most items (sandwiches only) are around $6.00 with tax. And, the food is filling! For an small additional fee, you can add fries and a drink to all menu items. It's a good lunch spot for the Pioneer Square area. I tend to get the Chicken Schwarma, which is my favorite. The gyro's are also pretty tasty. The same guys that I've seen working in there the past 10 years were there, and I told them I've been a long-time customer. The owner gave me a complimentary baklava! Fatty likes! Great, fresh food. On a quirk, I had the fish and chips. My wife had a "hero" LOL. No, no, honey. It's spelled G-Y-R-O and it's pronounced just like that. Girls. The fries were hot, crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. The salad was fresh with just the right amount of vinegar and oil dressing. The fish wasn't out-of-this-world - but with the tartar sauce it made for a very nice early dinner. We ate ours out on the sidewalk and watched the hipsters parade by. Would definately go back. I would give it 4 stars for gyros in that location (downtown) but really, I couldn't. Much better gryos in the U District. The inside is sorta sketch and the staff is often times a little odd as well. Paid $7 for a veggie gyro with fries which is sorta what I expected. Fries aren't special (no "greek" fries) and are literally super crunchy crinkle fries. The veggie gyro (not falafel) tasted like mexi-greek which was....odd. It had hummus and garbonzo beans which I liked but also pinto beans and tasted like a lot of cilantro and raw onion. I actually really liked it but took me a minute to adjust. I've read the other reviews of "Med Mix" and I agree with most of them at least partially. I also have to say that you have to take my review with a grain of salt. I used to do security in Pioneer Square for over 5 years but I've only eaten a few dishes there (if it ain't broke don't fix it right). After a night working at the clubs I'd usually have something from the hot dog cart out front. I know for a fact that their cart is kept up the best, and the cleanest. This I can't say about most of the other carts in the area. All of their dogs are top notch. Only a few times did I ever try the "Seattle style" dog with the cream cheese but I was impressed. I didn't think I'd like it but I did. Now for my old stand-by chicken & rice. Awesome!!! I get mine with red sauce, white sauce and no tomatoes. Perfection!!! The bad: Generally the service isn't great. Some of the cashiers border on being just plain rude. I would never want to eat there, especially after the clubs close. Too much drama, crappy tables and chairs and not the most squared away (not overly tidy) interior. With all that said I'll still continue to get my chicken & rice to go as usual. read more

We were in need of a quick bite before catching a comedy show across the street, so we stopped in here and ordered falafel (for me) and lamb gyro (for him). My falafel was freshly made and fried on the spot, which I greatly appreciated. It was full of vegetables and was wrapped in a warm soft pita. Ended up here for lunch and, even though the gyros seemed to be the specialty at the shop, there was a particular curry chicken and rice dish that caught my eye near the end of the menu. The shop is definitely meant for the lunch crowd with a few tables and chairs ambiguously set about though there was a bit of that Seattle vibe that was given off from the decorations. As for the actual taste part of the review, it was hard to believe that for a fairly inexpensive meal that the freshness of the vegetables and the spices of the meat and rice would have such an impact on my palate. Imagine, basically, all the ingredients of a delicious gyro packed into a box with the addition of spiced chicken and curried rice and that is exactly the dish that we ordered. To be fair, you may be able to find a better curry chicken and rice dish somewhere in Seattle, but for a small shop on First Avenue, this is a perfect spot for a bit a little bit of Mediterranean near Pioneer Square. The service was a bit slower than the majority of shops on First Avenue, even with only a few patrons in the shop, so there may be a wait if you intend to grab a meal during the lunch rush. read more

My wife and I were playing tourist in Pioneer Square and stumbled on to Med Mix. Yes, it looks like a hole in the wall but the food came out hot and fresh. Although they have a variety of Mediterranean food, I was in culture shock for a Philly cheese steak which was excellent. My cardiologist might disagree. My wife ordered the chicken shawarma stuffed into pita bread with a yogurt sauce. Both items came with HOT french fries and a soft drink and I think we maybe paid about $10-$12 per person which is cheap for Seattle. Everything was very good. Best priced most filling lunch in all of Seattle. Better known for their Gyro's, you have probably missed out on their cheese burgers. These mammoth 1/2 pound burgers are the real deal. Although they tend to drown the thing in mustard and ketchup, they pile on the lettuce, onions and diced tomato's as well. Served with fries the whole thing comes $5 at lunch! I've been wondering where the good Mediterranean food might be in Seattle, and I'm still looking for more options, but stumbling across Mediterranean Mix in Seattle perked up my spirits. The hummus and falafel were solidly good, as was the pita. The lettuce, tomatoes and other vegetables were fresh. The servings were large and satisfying. I didn't try the cream cheese hot dog, but I think I'll save that for a night when I might be stumbling inebriated out of one of the nearby establishments in this part of town (close to the stadiums and in the midst of bars and galleries in Pioneer Square). THE BEST after-hour spot in the city. My sisters and I love, love, love this place. We always stop by before heading home. It's always open, and never fails. Yes, you'll experience some sketchy people, but if you mind your business, they'll mind theirs...for the most part. We've had some interesting experiences there--including a wasted young woman who was shoesless and phoneless. She was so drunk that she was flashing everyone around. We tried helping her, but there wasn't much we could do. My girlfriend even tried calling the police. But apparently, it's not unusual for things to happen in that area during those hours. So beware, but I wouldn't worry too much. (They can smell fear.) I also love Mediterranean Mix (we call it "the gyro place") because it reminds me of New York City. Wow, this has been my long-time go to late night spot, and I will never eat here again and neither should you. The man behind the counter tonight was incredibly rude... There is a large gap next to their counter and my keys fell down there, and the man behind the counter, rather than lean down and reach underneath the case from his side to grab them and return them to me, insisted that I call 911 to get help because he wouldn't do this simple thing that could only be done from his side of the counter. The rudest customer service I have ever had in my life in all honesty. I've been going to this place for 12 years and I will NEVER go there again. This is knd of my go-to in Pioneer square. It's cheaper than most places for a quick lunch. It's good. The portions are huge. The Falafel sandwiches aren't an eat while walking item. The're stuffed full of tomatoes and onions and crispy and tasty patties. Same with the gyro and schwarma. There's something about the hummus here. The ultra smooth texture is amazing. I walked inside and immediately expected to see a family of giant cockroaches on the wall, whiff Aroma de Urine, and be greeted by a very rude cashier with missing teeth and one eyeball. Yet to my chagrin, I had a very gracious cashier, no (visible) bugs, and was overwhelmed by the pleasant scent of grilled onions and hamburger meat. My guests and I enjoyed the following belly pleasantries: grilled steak and cheese sandwich (with cheese, peppers and mushrooms on a nicely grilled bun), cheese burger and fries, and a chicken Mediterranean plate (comes with seasoned rice and pita). We stopped talking for a good 10-15 minutes while we devoured our plates. It is safe to say that we were more than satisfied. I will definitely be returning if and when I am in that area. Had the lamb gyro with fries and a drink. I must say that this was a very delicious gyro. The lamb was very tasteful, and the tsatsiki added a good touch. It was fairly big which was great because I was pretty hungry. The fries were good, nothing special but you can't really go wrong with fries :) With all this and a drink my meal came out to $6.50. We came in before a sounders game because we only had 30 minutes to spare and ordered the chicken and rice and a slice of pepperoni. The pizza is not good! Over greasy, straight out the can sauce and just there because it's easy and low cost to makei bet. We also decided to try the chicken and rice. My son remembered this dish from the street vendors in NY and was hoping for something like that. Generous portion of rice with a good amount of chicken covered in tzaziki sauce i think. The falafel sandwich here is pretty amazing. Three pieces of falafel with hummus, med salad, tabouli, and tahini sauce. Pretty hard to beat at $5.50. For $7 you can upgrade to the falafel plate which adds chickpea salad and garlicky baba ghanouj to the mix. Pita on the side. I am a HUGE fan of this place. I can order the closest thing to NYC HALAL CART. They're open until late at night and it's a great place to go after the bars. The service is friendly and they treat me like I'm family (minus the free food). Order their chicken and rice. You won't regret it! They will give you all the works, just ask for it! We just moved to the Pioneer Square area about a month ago and because we were lazy and didn't feel like unpacking our kitchen stuff, we ended up eating out *a lot*. Med Mix was a highly frequented place, not just because it's really the only good food in Pioneer Square but because it is super cheap, you get large portions, and it's really quality food! We still eat there when we don't feel like getting out the pots and pans.The only reason they get four stars instead of five is because they keep putting onions on my hummus wrap when we ask them not to and they don't have fountain sodas in the evenings- yes, fountain sodas are *that* important to me =) Bottom line, this place is good, cheap eats, and they're open super late on the weekends for those of us who get the midnight munchies! EDIT 3.06.08: OK, I've bumped it up to 5 stars cause they seem to have remedied the onion problem, and I can't fault them too much for turning the soda machine off at night since it's not as busy and I'm sure it wastes lots of valuable energy ;) read more

This is place amazing. I come here on the weekend after I night out, or during the week when I don't feel like cooking. For under 30.00 I can get enough food to feed 3-4 people (generous portion). They have a nice variety of items. If you like the processed gyro meat, they have that. If you like actual meat, they have that (try the chicken salad). Fries and pizza are great too. Awesome food but horribly abusive owner. I come here to eat lunch on Saturdays because I work nearby and the food is tasty and reasonably priced. Today I came in and I noticed that the chicken and rice said $7, so I ordered it with a Gatorade. when I walked up to pay for it, the owner said "that will be $14" . So I asked him, "does the Gatorade cost $6? It shouldn't cost that much". Hearing that he became angry, "the chicken and rice is $10.50." Well your sign says $7, I told him. Upon hearing that he gave me a dirty look and said you're a f*cking idiot. I then told him I will simply take a picture of his own sign, which I did, and show it to him. He refused to look at it, instead angrily coming around to the front to look at the sign that said $7. When he saw it said $7, he asked me, "what are you not a scientist,? You can guess that it isn't that much based on the other prices." I said "you are a horrible business person" and I turned around and started walking away. As I walked out he unloaded on me with a barrage of insults and personal attacks which I simply ignored as I left. I have never been abused like that by a business owner ever. Definitely a solid takeout place. It tastes like how you would expect. But its also cheap and satisfying if you're on the go. If I'm really craving gyro meat, I'll come here for a gyro plate. Its literally the inside of a gyro on a plate with a pita on the side. I would've preferred rice instead of the pita. My husband got the gyro and enjoyed it. Can't say enough good stuff about this place, THEY'RE AMAZING! They're definitely one of the few places open late after you've been at a bar/club and are hungry.
