Catch of the Day - Halibut
    Carol C.

Wonderful experience at this historic hotel in La Jolla. Wagyu burger was delicious with the truffle fries. Our friend enjoyed her halibut - catch of the day. The grilled chicken tortilla salad hit the spot for me, especially with the avocado dressing. The restaurant is located inside the La Valencia Hotel and faces the water. We visited on Presidents' Day where it dumped buckets in San Diego. I understand the big deal now - it was heavy rain where my shoes got soaked, as well as my pant legs. Compared to Seattle rain, that's saying something. Service was friendly and food and drink were delicious.

Food was good service was polite and nice. Ambience was unsettling. To many kids screaming. Parents not taking care to stop them. We are leaving.

It was a nice sunny day, so we decided to eat on the patio. I ordered the Waygu burger and French fries. I asked for the burger to be cooked medium rare plus. The burger was totally decent. My coworkers liked their meals.

The view from our table was amazing and the service was just as good. When we received our menus , there was an insert for a four course meal for two for $100. When we placed our order, the waitress took the menu and came back saying it was not available that night. We order the roasted chicken and the shrimp pasta. As you can see from the pictures, the chicken is a split breast. My husband found it well cooked and tasty. The pasta was al dente with a creamy vodka sauce. There were four shrimps in the pasta. The disappointment of the evening was the basque cheesecake. The beauty of the basque cheesecake is the almost burnt top. I have no idea why they would cover it with a blob of something pink. The berries were placed underneath the cheesecake. It looked so bad that it looked all thrown together. This is the second time that we order a dessert that is not properly plated. As you can see by the pictures this is where this restaurant is lacking. The pasta should be topped with shaved Parmesan or a sprinkle of parsley. Presentation is a key aspect of a meal. It is almost there but not quite for the price of the entrees.

We went there on a beautiful Sunday for brunch. It was just the 3 of us and I got the basic sausage, eggs, and potato's breakfast with cappuccino. The quality of the food was great, the sausages were delicious and the price was expected for such a nice location. Be sure to come a little early to find parking as the hotel does not offer parking for dining as far as I know. There are also plenty of street parking, but you'd have to keep a lookout. I got lucky and found parking almost right away. The decor was stunning and it makes you feel like you can just sit there, drink tea, and watch the ocean and beautiful pool all day. The place wasn't as busy when we went. Breakfast does end at 11am and our server wasn't quite as attentive, but did provide us with what we asked for. Overall, worth checking out.

The food was good but nothing spectacular for the price. The service was very good. The armoaohere makes this place. The relaxed ambiance of the ouside seating overlooking the ocean and sunset it amazing.

Mediterranean Room is the main restaurant inside La Valencia Hotel in La Jolla. Indoor main dining room and outdoor patio seating available. Reservation is a must as this place is usually booked full fast especially during sunny weather seasons. The restaurant menu offers something for everyone but is limited. I would have like to see the brunch menu to include more options, as the dinner menu...ie caviar, Crudo, oysters, smoked salmon, and Spanish octopus...additionally, better selections for champagne is a must, currently there's not to many options. However, of all the times I have dined here, the food was nice presented and tasted fantastic. The service from all the staff have been accommodating, attentive and expeditious. If something is not satisfactory, they have offered to correct it...ie the cup of coffee was not strong enough, so a cup of frothy forté cappuccino made it better. While there's room for improvement the Mediterranean Room is still among my top choices when dining in La Jolla.

Our first stop on landing San Diego.. we were starving! The brunch at Mediterranean Room hit the right spot! Amazing customer service, extremely friendly staff. Loved the freshly squeezed orange juice and Irish oatmeal with the brown sugar and farmers market berries. The oatmeal was perfect, not the sticky gluey thing seen in some places. My husband ordered their breakfast parfait with the Greek Yogurt, with fresh berries and house made granola; it was heavenly. The yogurt had the absolute perfect texture. Overall great experience and yummy happy meal.

food was great, well except when a giant seagull swooped down and grabbed it and took off! All good though, service was amazing! they were so kind about the whole thing. They remade my lunch and i took it to go! waiter was sweet and accommodating. i love La Valencia and lunch on the patio is still awesome, amazing views too! even with the giant seagull lol

The atmosphere of this restaurant is beautiful, however the service is mediocre. At one point our waitress disappeared for a good 45 mins. It took a long time to receive the food which did not taste fresh. We had the shrimp pasta and chicken plate. They give a very underwhelming amount of flavorless chicken with beets on the side, a very interesting combo. The shrimp pasta was a good proportion but tasted like frozen food.

This place is beautiful and very cozy. We had a section on the couches and high tops. Had a pretty view out of a big window! The food was yummy. My eggs Benedict wasn't as runny as i would've liked, but the flavors were on point. I loved the chipotle hollandaise. The server was nice. I would definitely come back to give lunch a try at this place.

Does this restaurant have parking available?

Part of The Valencia Hotel so Valet for $$, plenty of street parking if you drive around & around & around LJ Village as well, especially a few blocks south.

They tasted very freshly cooked just as they would as if I had cooked them myself at home. I was there about 1245 on a Monday and there were a few people there and they had some takeout orders so my order took about 10 minutes before I could walk out the door with it. They had a nice condiment bar where you could pick out some yogurt with dill sauce and then they're famous garlic yogurt sauce, as well as a jalapeño sauce And another spicy hot one that I would never try. When I got back to the jury room to eat my meal, I saw that there was a nice quantity of the fresh salad and the grilled vegetables but the meat was piled high! The employees were working efficiently and the place was spotless and orderly.
