I have been here several times and it's always been a great experience. Unfortunately our visit today was awful. The Cadillac Margarita I ordered was horrible, very sour and didn't taste like a margarita at all. The food was good but took 45 mins to come out. If they were busy I would understand but it was not busy, early lunch hour. We ate at the bar and the service was terrible. No attention to us at all. read more

Well I used to love this place but it always seems to be an issue "depending on who you talk to". Today, I called at 11:50am, knowing full well that they don't open until 12pm (which is ridiculous in itself because of all the lunch traffic they are missing) but apparently they can't even take my order until 12pm now. Really? I can't call in my order so I can come pick it up AFTER you open? Pretty lame. I'm sure one of the other restaurants in Alpine I'll call for my lunch order will gladly help me. Great spot for genuine Italian cuisine and only a thousand feet above sea level in beautiful Alpine! Daily specials are unbeatable this side of the boot! Bar is comfy, relaxed atmosphere and separate from the dining room which is plus in my book. Bartenders, and all staff are extremely attentive and welcoming, love Mike, Brooke, etc. It is worth the 30 minute drive from San Diego. I've eaten here many times and the service is excellent, the food is good and very consistent. Last night I went out with a few friends for dinner and we sat out on the patio. There was a heater so we were nice and warm. We started with bruschetta for the appetizer and it was delicious. They have a full bar so all of us had something different from beer, to white and red wine, to cocktails. All of us were pleased with our drinks. They have a nice variety of food items and their pasta is made fresh. They are a Sicilian family owned restaurant so most of their meals are Sicilian inspired. They offer really good daily specials too. Their cheesecake is amazing. I prefer the traditional one but they also have another one with ricotta and chocolate chips. After we had dinner, we moved over to the bar side of the restaurant and they had a really good live band playing. They also have an outside area that has couches, a fire pit and if you're cold they have blankets! This is one of the best restaurants in Alpine and we love it! read more

Worst service I've ever experienced! We came here before my little brothers prom, we called ahead to see if they could fit us in and they told us they would reserve a table in the game room for us. When we got there they said no one told them we were coming but they sat us at a reserved table anyway. We got there at 5:45 and didn't leave until 7:15, we didn't get our food until the last 20 minutes we were there. It took 45 minutes to bring out 2 margaritas and we didn't get our appetizers until after everyone got their meals. One waitress brought us a Chicken Parm and when I turned around to ask if anyone ordered that she said "what are we waiting for" with an extremely rude attitude. Turns out we were waiting for them to bring us out the right food because no one ordered a Chicken Parm, I ordered a Pollo pizza and the waitress said she misheard even after she read us back our order correctly. I never got my pizza because it took 2 hours for them to make. My brother ordered the dinner special Ravioli that was $26 for 4 pieces that were cold. Do not go here, the food is subpar and the service is even worse. Olive Garden would've been a better experience. read more

One of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. I'm so upset I have to leave such a bad review because the food was decent but the service and pricing was not worth it all. If it weren't for my cousins husband speaking up we would have never been served or gotten our order taken. Olive Garden would be a much safer and better choice than here. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice and the menu was sophisticated and fancy however the service and the food did not live up to it. The portions are small for the price you pay. I really wanted to like it here because the ambiance is really nice and so are the workers but they are not attentive to their customers at all. The lady did not write down our order at all and when she brought my cousins salad it did not have the substitution of the raspberry vinaigrette, when she clearly said she didn't want the blue cheese. In addition, we asked for ranch for the "garlic" fries we ordered and she never brought it, when the server came back all she said was "can i take some of these plates." Overall if I could go give it zero stars I would, but it's possible so I'll leave one. read more

I've live in SD county for decades and for whatever reason it is not a place I frequent.It took an invite from a friend who moved there for me to venture into the great north east of SD county. After a few hours hanging out at his ranch it was time for dinner. I'm thinking what's "Alpine" cuisine? Is it just country cooking? BBQ? Is there Ethnic food? A Panda Express? So when my friend said there is an Italian place as good as any found in downtown I turned all Luke Skywalker and screamed "That's not true! That's impossible!" Well dress me up in a skirt and call me Sophia! I sure was wrong! How do you say "I'm a close-minded recluse and need to get out more" in Italian? By the ghost of Pavarotti this was some great Italian food! Ironically, my wife and I had just been to one of our usual (read been going there for decades) Italian haunts near La Jolla the previous day. We both left Meditteraneo thinking "This was soooo much better." Calamari- A generous portion of squid. As you know what makes or breaks is that coating. Does it have any flavor? Does it fall apart on you? Hell YES! Hell NO! It comes with a well crafted marinara sauce. A tiny bit of heat. I regret talking my friend out of ordering two of them. Trying to watch my girlish figure. Curse you holiday lbs! My wife and I shared a meal (CURSE YOU F-ING HOLIDAY LBS!). We shared a salad and chicken marsala. Now chicken marsala is my wife's absolute favorite Italian dish so she is darn critical about it. She loved it and cursed ME for sharing. Tender chicken breast with a dazzling Marsala sauce. Mix with mash potatoes and feel your toes curl in ecstasy. We also shared a fresh spinach salad. What amazed me was the mix ins of pomegranate, oranges, mushrooms, and avocado slices. The grilled chicken that came without was cooked perfectly. My wife was very skeptical when I chose it but I love spinach. A refreshing pomegranate vinaigrette dressing ties it all in. I must proudly say she loved it and we both agreed it was one of the best salads we've ever had. Easily could have eaten a whole. I loved how the kitchen automatically split each dish into two plates for us instead of us having to do it ourselves. Our server was very friendly and patient. I loved how she and the other staff fawned over my friend's super duper cute toddler. Really gave a personal family air to our dinner. Daughter A ordered the Capellini alla Checca. Angel hair pasta with fresh diced tomatoes, roasted garlic, and basil. It was a huge portion. I expected her to have leftovers but between her hearty appetite and just how good she thought it was, she just destroyed it. The only leftover were the tomatoes. I had the honor of finishing those and they were so good. Daughter B ordered the Gnocchi alla Sorrentina. To my surprise she wanted something "different." I like gnochhi so suggested it. How dangerous could this be? House-made potato dumplings with mozzarella, tomato sauce, and basil. She liked it for a while. She found the dumplings too heavy and there was a lot so I understand her not finishing. They tasted good but a smaller portion or something else to break it up would have been better. For sweets I ordered a cafe mocha which was great. There were other heavenly desserts. A molten lava cake. Fresh mango sorbet. Some sort of chocolate special that my pal got but I was kind enough not to pick at. I think I've embarrassed my family enough with my Yelp antics at the table. No need to annoy my friends. Mediteranneo really struck a chord with me. The combination of food that could easily stand up to the scrutiny of the downtown Little Italy setting and the calm rustic surroundings of Alpine makes this a "gotta get back to" place for me. read more

My husband and I dined here on Saturday. I had the lemon chicken special with egg battered shrimp and mashed potatoes. My husband had the chicken parmesan with spaghetti and we ordered the verde salad to share while waiting for our entree's. We waited over 20 minutes for the salad to be brought to our table. When our salad was finally served, one of the busboy's was cleaning the window less than 20 feet from our table. Nothing like inhaling Windex while you're eating. I understand that restaurants have cleaning tasks that must be done, however there's a time and place for completing those tasks. While we were still waiting for our entree's, we see the owner tell one of the busboy's to trim the landscaping out in their patio area on their balcony. The owner handed the busboy a knife to trim the weeds with, which we thought was ridiculous. When our entree's arrived, I noticed the lemon chicken and shrimp were drenched in lemon sauce. The chicken and shrimp were already soggy when served. I took one bite and the lemon sauce was so intense, I couldn't taste anything else. I ended up changing my order to the spaghetti with meat sauce. When the spaghetti was brought, the owner accompanied the server to apologize for the way the lemon chicken was prepared and admitted that there was in fact too much lemon sauce. The spaghetti and meat sauce was definitely not worth the $21.00. The meat was dry and there was very little sauce in the spaghetti. During the entire time that we were at the restaurant, there was a red bucket sitting on top of the ledge between the bar and dining area. We had seen several employees dipping their hands in the bucket, apparently there were dirty rags in the bucket that were being used to clean the tables with. As we we're getting ready to pay our bill, my husband addressed the bucket to the owner and how we felt it was unhygienic to have a bucket and a bottle of Windex in plain view of the customers. Instead of agreeing with my husband that the bucket should be kept out of view, the owner kept making excuses. Right before he took our check to run our credit card, the owner in a very facetious tone says to my husband, "First you don't like our chicken and now you don't like the bucket. You are the perfect customers!" Clapping his hands afterward. My husband and I are usually not one's to complain, but the entire experience was disappointing. We had dined here previously about a year ago and had a bad experience when the server forgot to put our order in. We decided to come back to give this place the benefit of the doubt and yet, another bad experience. We will never come back. Worst restaurant in Alpine!! read more

Not thrilled with the service tonight. We were seated and never saw the waitress again. The bartender apologized and got our drinks. When no waitress arrived the bartender asked what we needed and then brought us our bread. After a while with still no waitress the bartender took our order for us. The only person who provided us any service through out the evening was the bartender. Wife's food was disappointing. Sauce was runny and broken. Such an excellent place for dinner! Stopped in here with my new fiancé and it was very popular inside but we were able to sit at the bar and order from their full menu. Yoshi behind the bar treated us great, very friendly and great customer service. We told them we would be sharing and they even split the plates for us, both appetizer and the pasta dish. Not to mention it was delicious, and the portions were generous! We will definitely be back and recommend to our friends. Perfect little date night. The bar next door has been greatly expanded and offers a reasonable selection of drinks. Service can be a little slow and spotty, but during COVID that seems to be more the rule than the exception.
