I have to give an update on Medzo Gelato Bar. It's still five stars all of the way. At this point I have been here various different times and tried a number of their flavors. Still one of my favorite flavor combinations from here is the chocolate (I think specifically it's Chocolate Hazelnut) and the coffee flavor in a single size. Really anything you get here is going to be amazing but I am just basing that on personal preference alone. The owners are always really nice. As to be expected it can get busy in the summer so we swing by here on cooler days and not blazing hot ones. read more

Amazing flavors. Our group tried a bit of everything- pistachio, banana, cherry, tiramisu, ... loved all the flavors. It's a small business and the owner serves the ice cream so they don't allow tasting anything pre purchase. It's a little inconvenient but understandable. I had to update my review and give them the much deserved 5th star!!! We came Sunday, they were closed Monday, we came Tuesday, and yes.....we came again today on Wednesday. It is just the best ice cream in town. Gelato is something EVERYONE needs to try, it just can't be beat! We have now tried a ton of flavors and love them all. They make their own caramel for the caramel gelato. They use all natural ingredients and make EVERYTHING from scratch. Businesses just don't do that anymore and when you have a local mom and pop place that does you HAVE to give them their "flowers." This location is close to Wright Park. Nicely decorated. The owners are very personable We got 3 flavors: riso bianco , lemon curd and the hazelnut. Creamy and delicious! Small batches prepared everyday. In lieu of no samples trust the Yelp reviews for flavor suggestions or better yet talk to the owners ? We love gelato so to hear about a new gelato bar in Tacoma was very exciting! Medzo will not disappoint. The gelato is so delicious! Owners are very nice and told us they created their own recipes but trained in Italy (sign me up for that class!!) We enjoyed four flavors: pistachio (roasted nutty flavor really brought out the pistachios), salted caramel, coffee (rich espresso taste) and coconut (toasted coconut really enhanced the coconut taste!) The cafe reminded us of small eateries we visited in Paris and the decor was beautiful- I think their light fixtures were Murano glass? Meh Cute spot, but gelato was not soft enough. Flavor was good, but just okay. The pistachio did not have enough flavor, the coffee was good, but honestly it was just too hard. You could even see the lady struggling to put it in the cups. Way too hard for gelato, I was not a fan of the "no sample" signs everywhere. Stuck with traditional flavors but will not come back to try other flavors at $6-10 per cup. It's not in a busy location, so had to go out of our way to get here and would not make that trip for it again. It's just okay. read more

I only leave reviews for places I truly love, and this one is hands-down the best for gelato. The gelato is absolutely amazing, soft, creamy, and made entirely in-house with organic ingredients. I've tried plenty of ice cream spots around University Place, but after coming here, everywhere else feels like a disappointment to my taste buds. Space for 12+ people to sit inside. We love Medzo Gelato. A husband and wife own the gelato shop, and they craft their gelato from scratch. They've been trained abroad by the gelato masters, and their product shows. Silky smooth texture. Pristine flavors such as rice and tiramisu make their gelato to die for. Also consider their sorbet--we absolutely love their pear sorbet. They used to be located in Pioneer Square and Burien. They're now further south. Up until I tried this place, I was convinced I'd never find a gelato place as good as the one in my college town in new hampshire. Wasn't even dreaming about it.. until I stumbled upon Medzo Gelato serendipitously. When I say this place is good, I don't mean just taste! Everything from the quality of ingredients (organic & natural) to the friendliness of the owners.. this will quickly become your favorite dessert spot. They do their flavors really well (not too sweet and you can taste the natural ingredients) and they rotate flavors! They do a sweet rice one that apparently is what people come here specifically for. I opted for my classics: choco hazelnut and pistachio and was not disappointed.
