We had lunch yesterday at Meehan's. We won't be going back. The young lady behind the host podium just wanted a phone number....no real greeting. She made it sound as if they wanted your number in case you skipped out on a tab. The lady who sat us was positively morbid. I ordered a wedge salad. I'm not sure where the lettuce originated, but it wasn't an iceberg wedge. The bleu cheese dressing was watery and tasteless. I had two bites and gave up. The other two meals were fine, but would have been equally good at Chili's for less $$. Maybe they were just off their game, but for the price we'll go elsewhere. On a side note, I was sad to see they removed/covered up the grist. I just appreciate it when local restaurants offer a nod to the city they serve. read more

We went to celebrate my niece's birthday December 9th. We had a 7 PM reservation and were seated immediately upon arrival. The servers were attentive and helpful. The food was amazing. We ordered the seafood tower as an appetizer. It was huge (ended up taking most of it home). Our steaks were amazing. They were all cooked to perfection. Made a 11:15am RSVP for Meehan's a few days ago. Arrived about 11:10 - seated by 11:15, approached by server quickly. Server was very personable and knowledgeable. Asked about beverages, then returned to ask if we had questions about the menu - we asked a few and he answered perfectly. We ordered the jumbo shrimp cocktail - which was incredible great. Later ordered lunch - 2 x Prime Beef Sandwiches and a 6oz filet ... ALL WAS FANTASTIC - great quality, presented well, cooked as ordered and served reasonable fast. GREAT ambiance too - really impressed with the "feel" of the restaurant. We ordered a souffle to eat there and some bread, souffle, berries and cream and some mashed potatoes to go. My bestie made reservations here at 3:30 yesterday (Friday) for 7:45 time. We got in but she had to call back to say we would be closer to 8 - my fault, had to work late. They were very nice about it. It seemed to take forever to get here (I'm from North Dallas, not from this area) but when we arrived, it seemed perfect, right on the corner, plenty of room for complimentary valet, with two young people waiting to greet us and park our car. We love to dine in nice establishments all over the world but I must say we were impressed by what we saw as soon as we walked in. Lots of smiles all round and we were seated immediately. As we strolled to the dining area, I noticed a nice bar area to the right. Cute booths, I thought. The dining room was full and we were seated in a table right outside the kitchen. I am particular and as a I watched people coming out of the kitchen, walking right past me - on both sides, I didn't want to sit down. I told the host - I'd rather sit somewhere else. I was told there were no other '2 top' tables available. We considered moving my chair so that I wasn't on the aisle in the corner, with people quickly passing on both sides, but it was too tight a fit. I should have taken a star off for that and I won't eat here again - I don't care how few people are in my party - without being assured that I won't be seated here again. On to the service - we were seated for a few minutes before someone asked about drinks, but we were tended to as far as water. We both asked for a martini - different for each. They arrived but seemed weak. My friend asked for a shot of Grey Goose $11 and split it with me. I had asked for extra olives with mine, thinking they might bring a tiny bowl with maybe 3 or 4 extra. But I guess their olives are flown in - I was charged $3 and there were 4 olives on the toothpick. I abandoned my drink and asked for a 12 yr old Macallan $22. I was surprised that it was served in a glass very different from the traditional rocks glass. I've been enjoying much pricier whiskys for years but always in a rocks glass so I looked up this glass. My glass appeared to be either a tulip or a Glencairn glass, perfect for swirling the whisky to open up the aroma. I learn something new every day! And the night continued to improve, in spite of where we were sitting. We shared the crab cakes $24 and they were delicious. Cooked just right, slightly flaky and with a slight crunch to the batter. We also split a wonderfully fresh Caesar salad. It was topped with a couple of anchovies, and lots of beautiful shaved parmesan cheese on top. The service by Quon was exceptional. We did have to flag down others more than twice, but we women want what we want when we want it, lol. He knew the menu so well, spoke eloquently and made us laugh. My lobster and 8oz filet $78 arrived at the same time as my friend's ribeye $76. My lobster was very tasty but the filet - oh, it melted in my mouth. Seasoning was excellent and it all went well with my scotch. My friend loved the ribeye and of course we needed containers to take the extra, but ordered a glass of Bordeaux each - she told the waiter she just returned from France and wanted a nice French wine. It didn't disappoint. We ended it with dessert - I got the chocolate souffle $14 and she ordered the divine carrot cake $13. Overall, this is a beautifully-designed restaurant with wonderful staff, happy management, delicious food, nostalgic music and left me not minding to see the $360 bill. The location is in Mansfield Texas, which is fantastic for us not too far not having to go into downtown Dallas or downtown Fort Worth for a quality steak dinner. Our server was a gentleman, and he knew anything and everything there was to know about the place and the menu and the wine he was fantastic. The menu is not too big, but it has something in every category for someone to enjoy from being a vegetarian to straight up carnivore. I started off with a shrimp cocktail that was perfect. The cocktail sauce had just enough horseradish in it. It came with a lemon that was netted. It was an exceptional steakhouse shrimp cocktail. My better half wanted a wedge salad and it did not disappoint. It was larger than most wedge salads and it came decked out with bacon and blue cheese, crumbles and tomatoes and purple onions and croutons. It was a beautiful salad, and it tasted as good as it looked. For his meal he also wanted a bowl of the French onion soup. It smelled heavenly it smelled like they had cooked it all day long. It was beautiful the way it was presented, and it was enough for a meal, and the taste was so rich it had so many levels of flavor. It was the best French onion soup I've ever had . The only thing that kept me from giving it a five star on this review was my steak. The flavor was really good but the cut of meat was not. It was really tough. I did not send it back. I will go back and try something different. The cut was a 10 ounce Pime Coulotte. Another person in our party purchased the same cut, and hers was tender and juicy seared perfectly mine was not, but I'm not knocking the restaurant for a one off. Someone else got a bone in ribeye it was beautiful and it was enough that him and his wife split it. They also got a side of french fries. Let's talk about those french fries. I would probably stop in and go to the bar get me a beer and a double order of fries and make that my meal. they were fantastic. I don't know how they made them but they were absolutely amazing. We got brussels sprouts as a side as well and they were OK. They had great flavor, but they had a cream sauce on them almost like a béarnaise that was too much for brussels sprouts... In my opinion, someone else may like it. It was too much for me, the flavor was good, and they were tender. Someone else got the jalapeño corn kind of like a side of a Elote. Super spicy because it had a little bitty pieces a jalapeño, but had fantastic flavor. Someone else had a watermelon feta salad that she said was really good. I did not taste it but it came out and look beautiful for a hot summer night, and someone else got a mushroom risotto, which I was not a fan of, they enjoyed it but it was not for me. The drinks were good and the desserts were fantastic. We had probably the best bread pudding we have ever had and we get it everywhere we go it was absolutely fantastic and a couple of other people got chocolate soufflé's that they left nothing in the bowl. I definitely think it's worth going to for a special night be prepared to spend a little bit but you're getting a beautiful location fantastic service and quality food everything's above par. We will go back and I'll just get a different kind of steak or the Sea Bass. That was my only thing that gave this review a ding. Highly recommend! read more

For the first time I was invited to this restaurant for a birthday dinner of a friend... I had never heard of it prior to this time. I thought we had to drive to Fort Worth or uptown Dallas to find a worthy steakhouse. But oh no, this place is worthy and you don't have to pack on the miles of time to try to get there from where I live in Arlington. I can see why my delightful friends like coming to this restaurant. I will also say the service is very good. We had a lot of people checking in on us throughout the meal. I found the restaurant to be clean and quite festive because it was during December it was also quite busy. The parking is a bit of a challenge because this area has a couple restaurants and you park behind it so I found a parking spot that was so far in the cold. The next time I would definitely try to valet so keep that in mind as you come to this restaurant, it was early in the evening too, so I would imagine that parking would be more of a challenge as the night draws on... Everyone who knows me and all of my Yelp followers know that I am a bready! So the rolls were warm and the butter was perfect. I didn't want to fill up on the rolls so I only had a couple but they were very good. We ordered calamari and I will say with the calamari was the type that is the more meaty calamari and not the crispy ringlets that sometimes we tend to be used to at restaurants. My son and his little friend really enjoyed them, but I tend to prefer the crispy kind...the kind that make me forget I'm really eating octopus! We ordered a few different things for entrees. The kids got hamburgers and fries. I tasted the fries and the fries were cooked perfectly crispy on the outside with the soft middle and they came out hot. My friend ordered the salmon and it looked really good. We shared the mashed potatoes and Brussel sprouts. I ordered the filet mignon with a side of the peppercorn sauce. The brussels sprouts were in a sauce that I've never had on brussels sprouts before and it was so good. The potatoes were as you would expect. The filet was nice and tender cooked perfectly as well as the peppercorn sauce added a bit of spicy flavor to the meat. I would definitely come here again, and I may even consider stopping by for a lunch just to avoid the parking issue, but not sure they are open during lunch. I've got to check into that. Wow - The not-so-tiny burb of Mansfield now has a legit 5-star steakhouse! I'll admit to being skeptical that the site of the long-closed former Mellow Mushroom which suffered building and construction issues on a marquee corner of downtown Mansfield could rebrand as a top tier steakhouse - but after one visit count me as a believer. Of course it takes top talent to make this happen and owner Tony Meehan and executive chef Derek Venutolo from the FW Capital Grille are off to a fantastic start. Both Tony & Derek stopped by our table and shared some of their vision and excitement for their newest venture. Impressive. Service was on-point and very friendly. We started with a huge chophouse wedge salad and secret-recipe meatballs - awesome. Drinks from the bar came out quickly on a Friday night - although my friend thought different bartenders made her second drink. :). Old Fashioned's were presented in true "classic-bourbon" style and were fantastic. I had a properly cooked 10oz filet with just the right amount of butter and sear. Sides were huge - we especially loved the roasted brussels in a parmesan cream sauce - unique and flavorful. This review is only in reference to our most recent visit... We come often from Minnesota to visit our son and daughter-in-law who live in Mansfield and we always look forward to going to Meehan's when we're here. Love the feel and atmosphere of the place. Last night we had dinner in the bar and my husband ordered the sea bass, I got the trout. We waited quite a while and when our food came, my husband's sea bass was way overdone and rubbery. The manager handled it well as far as apologizing, offered a redo or a different entree, asked if we wanted our side refreshed and asked if we needed drinks refreshed. The redo on the sea bass took way too long - the manager apologized again. By the time it came, my food (which was really good!) had cooled off. Things were just not syncing and off in general. But, hey, things happen, right? However, my beef is that no compensation was given. Not a free side, not a free drink, not the offer of a free desert, nothing knocked off the bill. We were pretty surprised. One not-so-great experience isn't going to deter us from coming to Meehan's when we're in town and we always have a great time at Henry's. Really just a review to let management know a complimentary drink or desert and coffee or a few bucks off the bill would have been appreciated - and the appropriate gesture . read more

Been multiple times and have been met with fantastic food and service. The restaurant atmosphere has an art deco vibe to it that fits in with the downtown Mansfield setting. It's very comforting to know restaurants like this are around without having to go to downtown Dallas and Fort Worth. I had a business dinner here. I did not know such as nice steakhouse existed in Mansfield. The Filet was great. We also enjoyed the Crab Cakes, Mac and Cheese, and Brussel Sprouts. The vices I have is as much money as spent for our anniversary here ($425 with tip, we brought our parents with us) a simple happy anniversary or acknowledgment from the waiter that it was our anniversary would have been nice. But so is everything else there. I can't really recommend just one thing. My husband and I go there at least once every other month. We try something new every time and have never been disappointed in anything that we have ordered. The Chilean sea bass is my favorite (only because I can't eat an entire steak. My stomach won't allow me to. But I DO try the steaks that my husband orders and they have all been full of flavor and almost just melts in your mouth. The restaurant itself is nice and quiet. We did an event in downtown Mansfield today. Afterwards the wife and I decided to have lunch at Meehan's Chophouse. Upon arrival we were greeted at the door and it only took a couple minutes for them to prepare our table. This is a very nice place. The interior is stunning with a full wall of wine. The serer was very gracious and knowledgeable about the items on the menu. The wife had steak and brussel sprouts. I had a Shrimp cocktail and a Meehan's Burger. The food came out in a very reasonable amount of time. The burger was I do believe the best I have ever had. The fries were very good as well. The burger was cooked a perfect medium well and all the toppings were fresh. I will be going back again the next time we are in that part of the world. Everyone was kind and courteous. I've been to Meehan's twice and both times were wonderful. This is a steakhouse that's just right around the corner. Great ambiance and staff is always so kind and welcoming! They've very knowledgeable about the menu when you have any questions or concerns. Our second time we had a server named Quinci and she was phenomenal! We tried the meatballs and they were a 7/10.
