I recently moved to the area and was incredibly excited to try Soy Cowboy First impressions were great: the restaurant is beautiful, the decor is stunning, and the overall "vibe" is very cool. The prices seemed fair at first glance, and our server was actually quite pleasant throughout the night. However, the experience took a sharp turn for the worse with the food quality and management. We ordered the ribs, which were advertised as "fall-off-the-bone." Unfortunately, they were anything but. They were tough and lacked the quality you'd expect. There were four ribs on the plate; we tried two, realized the quality wasn't there, and immediately notified our waiter. We expected the kitchen or management to rectify the situation (either by replacing them or removing them from the bill) When the check arrived, we were shocked to see we were charged for the full plate. When we questioned it, the waiter informed us that the manager refused to take them off because we had "eaten them."Are you kidding? We tasted them to check the quality! It is ridiculous to be forced to pay for a dish that failed to meet its own menu description. We looked on Yelp and this restaurant had a few gluten free options listed. It's connected to the Lowes's hotel. There's a separate entrance for the restaurant. The interior was elegant and classy. We were excited about trying this place. The name "Soy Cowboy " led me to believe it would be a trendy restaurant with some cool food options. The service was pretty quick. I asked the server about the gluten free options and she didn't seem to know a lot. I ended up ordering a kale salad since I was afraid to try the fried items. It was probably one of the worst salads I had ever eaten. The kale was so dry I felt like I was going to choke after each bite. There were a few pieces of apple slices, sunflowers seeds and beets thrown in. I mean a few. Since the staff wasn't sure if the salad dressing was gluten free I didn't order it. The cost was $18. My husband ordered a chicken sandwich with fries. Cost $25. He said it was average at best. I later found out the fries are cooked in the same grease with foods containing gluten. Not safe for celiacs. When we got our bill a 20% tip was already included in our receipt. They also charged us for a refill of the soda $4 for each refill. $2 extra for the salad dressing !!! $ 70 for a burger, fries, soda and salad. Service was fine dining caliber and the food presentation was beautiful. My favorite dish was the lobster dumplings with the sweet and salty combo. Next would be the fried rice with snow crab, perfect combo. The crispy rice was disappointing, rice was a brick and portion small. The Korean ribs were good, but don't expect a traditional preparation or taste. I thought some of the adornments on the dishes looked nice but didn't help the dish, like the crunchy balls on the hamachi or chopped peanuts on the ribs. Reservations are suggested and you will park at the hotel next door. The valet will be free after the restaurant validates your parking ticket. The food had a lot to be desired, though the Korean Ribs were tasty and the service while frequent, had a large numbers of errors. When I visited, it wasn't largely crowded, and my section of the restaurant was reasonably quiet, which I appreciated. The inside is HUGE, I think the capacity is upwards of 400. I've never seen a restaurant so large unless it was in Vegas. We got a variety of plates to share between the two of us including the Bluefin Toro Tacos, Wagyu potstickers, Wagyu fried rice, and Otoro nigiri. The Bluefin Toro Tacos were bitesized (2 bites) and the Otoro nigiri was also on the smaller size. The food was tasty although I feel like it was expensive for what it was and the portions were small for the price. Everything was find but nothing was outstanding. I visited April 2025. I got there around 530-6pm on a Saturday & it was pretty slow... which was a benefit to our table. The ambiance was warm & beautiful. The service was good & the drinks/food were good as well. The only reason I couldn't give a perfect score is because they had items online that were no longer on the menu & hadn't been available in while (enough time to update the website) I forgot what the item was but I was looking forward to trying it.
