I've been waiting for something like this to open up near me. Cute cafe-style interior with some red paper lanterns reminiscent of Taiwanese shaved ice stalls. The signature herbal jelly is amazing. The part that I loved the most is that the ice beneath is also herbal jelly flavored! The taro balls were the perfect consistency - chewy but not too difficult to eat. I don't really have anything to complain about with the tofu pudding either. It tasted like the classic tofu pudding you can get in Taiwan. The only thing I would change is allowing people to add more than one topping to their tofu pudding. Service was fast. Food was a bit overpriced, but the portion is pretty substantial. I was super excited about this place opening up in Plano. I had it almost every day while I visited Taipei back in June. The food here tasted about the same compared to the stores in Taiwan, but about 3 times more expensive... and that's understandable, no complaints. What make the [1-Star rating] is the time for us to get our order, it's exact 30 minutes after we order a very simple - Signature Herbal Jelly (taro balls, herbal ice and cream), all pre-made ready to serve items... not sure why it takes 30 minutes to get prepared, especially in a Thursday afternoon around 2:30pm, the store aren't even full, and there was no lines before we order as well. We can tell there're 4 staffs, but only one is preparing the food... Can't imagine what will be the wait time during the weekend here... Secondly, once we got our item, the staff forgot to give us the *one creamer that should come with the item, luckily I had it in Taiwan before, so I know something is missing... but after we poured the creamer into the ball, it's just not enough, so we tried to ask for another creamer, and the response from the staff was that it'll cost another $0.27 cents... really?!?! Especially after the 30 minutes wait... Really disappointed experience after all at this store, hope they will improve the unbelievable waiting time, and better customer service. read more

This is what my summer needed! I have been here 3 times in the past month and have had a good experience each time. I've always been able to beat the crowd. Try going on a weekday early evenings to beat the crowd. The signature item is my go to since it is light and refreshing. The herbal shaved ice is a nice change from other types of shaved ice and ice cream. Also, the almond pudding is the BOMB. The flavor is spot on! I LOVED having Meet Fresh in Southern California so I was very excited to have it again in my new home in TX. My fiance and I came here after having dinner and we ordered two dessert items: signature ice grass jelly and icy taro ball. Depending on the dessert you select, you have the a variety of jellies, taro balls, tapioca with crushed ice and it makes for a very refreshing treat. When we received our items, I noticed one very important thing was missing: the creamer. This is literally the best part of the dessert. I went up and asked the staff member who helped me for some creamer. She said I needed to pay up 25 cents for the milk, which I thought was weird because I never had to pay for it before. So I paid up and then I was given condensed milk. Wtheck?! I went back to our table and looked at the menu and it clearly stated that I was supposed to be given milk. My fiance went up to the staff member and got condensed milk AGAIN. Wtheck?!?!?!? Then all of a sudden he was finally given some creamer. The staff member said something in the lines of "they were running out". I was pretty turned off by that excuse. Yes, I am sour with my experience because of creamer, HAHA. But for those who know about this place, they know this is a special ingredient for the grass jelly desserts. Love the almond pudding shaved ice! It's absolutely massive where you can easily share with 3-4 people! I do not like beans and this was one of the few options that didn't have them. They're known for their taro and sweet potato balls which were so good! I try to come during off peak times because it gets really crowded. Our first time we waited about 30 minutes... even though it was busy it didn't look like the employees were working with urgency. The second time we waited about 20 minutes but it wasn't very busy though. Speed can improve and service is just straight forward. I was on the hunt for Taiwanese shaved ice as I remembered during my childhood in Dallas. To my surprise it was a lot harder to find than I thought as places have either closed down or serve the fruit shaved ice desserts only. So, imagine my surprise when we dropped by and found this place. It's found in the plaza of KD test prep (in huge, can't miss gaudy collegiate lettering), and was packed on Sunday afternoon. There's options for both hot and cold desserts, with mung bean, red bean, barley, boba, noodle jelly (what is this made of exactly?), herbal grass jelly, and chewy taro/sweet potato balls on top of shaved ice or tofu. There's also a dessert called tofu flower (豆腐花), but this one has a slight burnt note in the tofu. The first taste of the shaved ice reminded me of what I had growing up, with the slightly crunchy ice, the lightly sweetened syrup, and the different topping textures, so hooray mission accomplished! The only complaint I had was that the condensed milk was missing. You also have to pay $0.25 for a little container of coffee creamer, which isn't exactly the same as condensed milk, but close enough. Would likely come back for repeat visit, especially during the hot summer months. read more

Finally got to try this place out after hearing about it all throughout the summer. It was pretty busy on Christmas eve. Even though it was around 40 degrees outside, we still ordered the mochi shaved ice, which can easily feed 4 people (the three of us were pretty full afterwards). I loved how they provided separate bowls so you can share more easily with others. The assorted mochi and jelly had a really nice consistency, and I was pleasantly surprised by how good the taro balls tasted because taro isn't really my favorite. Our Taiwanese friends were excited that Meet Fresh had opened in Plano so they sent out a message asking if anyone wanted to join them in checking it out. They're famous for desserts with chewy taro balls, soft herbal jelly and delicate tofu pudding. My husband loves everything taro so of course we said yes. Line was really long when we got there so we decided to eat at a spot a few doors down. Luckily we did as there was no one in line by the time we got done eating at Yatai close to 10 PM on a Friday night. Nothing looked too appealing to me on the menu so I told my husband to order whatever he wanted and I would take a few bites to try. While he was at the counter ordering, I sat down with friends and checked out the place. It was mostly a younger crowd and the place looked a little messy from the earlier rush. Some of the tables had not been cleared but then again I'm sure all the servers were busy making food for the long line of people that went out the door so there wasn't much attention to the dining area. Husband ended up ordering the Iced Meet Fresh Signature which had herbal blended ice, sweet potato balls, herbal jelly and taro balls. The bowl came with a little creamer cup which our friends said you're supposed to add to enhance the flavor. It was certainly interesting looking to say the least but I took a couple of bites and will have to say it was a no go for me. I do not like herbal jelly and tolerate it in very small quantities. This bowl was full of it and the taste was very overwhelming. The taro balls weren't bad and had a nice chew but didn't taste like taro at all. Same with the sweet potato ones. Husband was disappointed as he was expecting more taro flavor. When I asked him why he ordered it he said all of our Taiwanese friends had gotten it and since it was their signature dish he thought it would be good. He also said he didn't think there would be that much herbal jelly in the bowl. Everyone else loved their dessert bowl and we were the ones who didn't finish. In fact, they all commented on how great the herbal jelly tasted...LOL. A few days later, our friends wanted to go back and we went along since we were carpooling. This time we didn't order anything. Our friends got the Taro Shaved Ice which they insisted we share with them as it was a pretty large portion. I think they felt bad about our first experience and were trying to make it up to my husband. The dessert was simple...finely shaved ice, taro, ice cream and condensed milk. To our delight, it was actually pretty good. The ice was smooth and refreshing. Husband also loved the freshly prepared taro chunks. I love condensed milk so pretty much anything with it gets a thumbs up from me. Still not my favorite dessert dish but way better than the herbal jelly one. I'm pretty sure we'll be back often because of our friends and their love for this place. Who knows...maybe we'll find something on the menu that we'll love one day. read more

I was excited to see so many Asian dessert places opening up around the Dallas area and was wanting to try Meet Fresh since I haven't really tried a lot of Taiwanese desserts. The place was really cramped. Plenty of seating but a nightmare during busy times. The whole shop was nearly filled and the seats were really close to each other making going around them or getting up to get your dessert a bit awkward if you're more in a clumped up area. Me and my friend tried the pudding with rice cake dessert the pudding was topped with boba and tastes straight up like those boba toppings. Not what we were expecting. Not worth the $4 in my opinion since you can get those toppings for 50 cents each at most boba stores. We also got the meet fresh special which was the herbal jelly shaved ice topped with herbal jelly and taro and sweet potato balls. It also left us disappointed unfortunately. The taro and sweet potato balls didn't have a very strong flavor and tasted like regular bland glutinous rice balls and the herbal jelly was bland also. Not sweet at all. I guess a lot of Asians don't really like sweets but it is a dessert. I like a nice balance in sweetness. Not too bland or overly sweet. The herbal jelly shaved iced was what I liked the most. It had a nice herbal jelly flavor but was a bit bitter. The creamer topping that you get with it doesn't really make a huge difference since there's way more dessert than there is cream. Although for $7 it is a huge portion. I really wanted to like meet fresh but most of their dessert options are similar to each other with different toppings so it might not be worth going to try another shaved ice dessert. Maybe I'll try to give this place another chance but overall it wasn't worth the hype. The wintermelon tea we got was good. We got the one topped with whipped cream but I would do without the cream. I got the mochi shaved ice when I came. This place is pretty average. The service is okay, not great but not horrendous. You can find similar shaved ice at most shops. The mochi all have about the same flavor. That being said, the mochi have a very soft and warm texture to them which I greatly enjoyed. Most places will take prepackaged mochi right from the freezer.
