This place seems to be in a busy area. Only parking is on the street and you have to pay. When I walked in , it looks pretty run down. The pork dumplings were good. Dumplings and Noodles, oh my! I visited for lunch and I'm glad I did. Atmosphere and service were ok, but the food was good and the prices were fair. I really enjoyed the flavor of the Spicy Sour Noodles. The broth was delicious and the soup was full of delicious components, including some perfectly cooked bok choy. When my mom and I came in the restaurant was empty and we were not greeted. There was only one person working and he made no effort to ask if we had any questions or check on us throughout the meal or really talk to us at all. Have ordered a few other things off the menu (basil fried chicken, tonkatsu, cold spicy chicken) and nothing has really hit the spot like the beef noodle soup. Seating is cozy, server is prompt, items are a bit pricey (ends up being about $20 per person per meal) for what they are. I came in about 30 mins before their closing time and they were kind enough to accommodate me! When I walked in, I noticed that it is a very casual place with students actually studying at multiple booths. I did a build my own with chongqing broth and noodles, ground pork, and bok choy. I do wish the broth had been more savory. I felt that it was lacking slight depth of flavor. However, once I put some chili oil in it, it tasted pretty good. This was the driest, nastiest Taiwanese basil fried chicken I've ever had in my life. I chewed each piece so hard that my jaw was popping. I genuinely think it was day old chicken microwaved on the plate and then served. I just wanted a soup bowl and therefore got the Tom Yum broth $4 (filled halfway), Sirloin $3 for 3 small square pieces of meat, Bok Choy $1.50 for 1 stalk cut up, Fish Cake $1.50 for 1 tiny cube sliced in half. The taste of the broth varies from very bland to the Tom Yum which was good but I was too exhausted to argue that the server gave me a different broth to top off the halfway filled soup bowl so I just dumped it into the main bowl. After having a fun time visiting the Parthenon and more at Centennial Park, I was ready for a late lunch. I did a search on Google Maps and got chains that I wasn't feeling. Instead, I did a search on Yelp and Meet Noodles came up. It was a hot, muggy day. Was I up to getting a piping hot bowl of noodles in soup with an excessive heat warning? Sure, why not? I was sweaty anyway, so might as well go for it. This Meet Noodles is across from a plaza with Bank of America and a dental clinic. Vanderbilt University is nearby. I actually parked near the dental clinic because the shade there was great to keep my car cool. I parked there and walked across the street to hit Meet Noodles. If it wasn't so hot, I would have parked in front of the eatery. All parking spots were available with no shade for your vehicles. There is patio seating on the veranda part of what looks like a converted house. I doubt that anyone wants to sit there under excessive heat. I didn't see a ramp for those requiring accessibility support. There are steps to get to and from the main entrance. I walked in and a nice man greeted me. I got a booth immediately. There were a couple of folks eating. It was nicely air-conditioned. I got the following items: - Shanghai pork buns (5) with dipping sauce - Steak noodles in soup - Peach fruit tea I asked for water and got iced water. My peach fruit tea also came. Both were icy cold, which I appreciated. The peach fruit tea had fixed sugar. It was sweet, but not overdone. It was perfect, refreshing, and delicious. My Shanghai pork buns arrived next. The buns were so cute. Each one was good. The pork filling was flavourful and had the right amount of juiciness in each bite. The exterior of each one was fluffy and perfect. These were the real deal. They were authentic and scrumptious. Likely to cater to western eaters, dipping sauce accompanied the buns. The sauce tasted like a boring sweet and sour sauce that had little flavour to it. I dipped once and left it alone. I recommend skipping this sauce. My bowl of steak noodles in soup came. It smelled incredible! Just having this bowl of noodles in front of me made me happy. The broth was flavourful with a bit of a spice kick. I loved the green onions in it. The steak was tender and perfect. It came with baby greens that were tender and provided a nice contrast, both in texture and colour. The noodles were excellent. They were chewy and fresh. I enjoyed this dish immensely. A female staff member, who likely was in the kitchen making my food, sat a couple of booths away from me to have lunch, too. It is a comfortable dining room. I paid with a credit card. I tipped and all was well. I didn't bring my USB C cable with me. I could have charged my phone as I ate. I liked that you had outlets to charge your phone and laptop at each booth. They were a nice touch. I used the washroom before leaving the restaurant. It was clean. There are two single-stall unisex washrooms. They are across from the payment counter. I thanked the nice man and left. I took my iced water with me. My tummy was content with excellent food. Yelpers aren't wrong. This place has authentic Chinese food. I still dream about that bowl of steak with noodles. If I'm ever back in the area, I'd return in a heartbeat. (282) read more

You know it's good when it's only Asians in the restaurant and they don't have forks (actually they might have forks but I couldn't give up my pride to ask for one). Our waitress did not speak very good English and did not really understand me when I asked for recommendations -- but she and the rest of the staff were still very friendly. I ended up with the beef brisket rice and was very happy with my decision. It is a very large portion and very filling. The brisket was full of flavor and the veggies complimented the meal very well. I was worried I would regret my decision of not getting noodles but I am fully content. Parking was a bit stressful...it was a Sunday so I took my chances and parked in the bank parking lot across the street. I can't believe it took this long for us to visit. We were extremely impressed with everything. It's a nice little hole in the wall spot near Vandy. We tried the rib and mushroom noodles, spicy sour noodles, sesame balls, pork and cabbage dumplings, and takoyaki. We ordered takeout from here so I can only review on their food. I will say that their food was very authentic and the broth was delicious. I recommend the Zhou's beef noodles. It had lots of flavour, and it's even better if you add a bit of spice. I will say though, that we had some difficulty with our order since the person taking our order had trouble understanding us, and we had to repeat the order a few times. Location is easy enough to get to but parking is another story. Thankfully we got there early and found good parking. It was paid, but we're not familiar with the area. There could be/have been free parking elsewhere. The menu has plenty of options (some clearly very authentic, if not all). If you aren't sure of something you see, ask the waitstaff. Our waiter was very helpful in correcting what was listed on the menu as included ingredients vs what was actually in the dish (e.g. acid beans weren't in any of the dishes but were listed under several). He also happily made a substitution on a dish he recommended for me (e.g. ground pork instead of pig intestines). DH + 2 kids and I ordered multiple dishes - all except apps were served in broth as stated on the menu. Steamed pork dumplings were ok. Skin/wrap was good, filling a little different than we've had in past but ok. The kids liked the steamed pork buns (bao) but DH and I didn't care for something in the flavor. The flavor of the Chongqing noodles I had was pretty good. The noodles were excellent and by far best I've had. Texture was great and the chew was really good. One kiddo had Beef Noodles and the other had Steak Noodles. Neither liked the meat and said it was tough and difficult to eat. They said the flavor of the broth was ok but not enough to overcome the meat. DH had Spicy Sour Noodles and did not care for it overall. Flavor just didn't deliver and the clear noodle just wasn't as good he had hoped. The facility seemed clean enough but smelled very very heavily of frying oil. We all smelled of it when we came out and as we finished up our afternoon gallivanting. Considering the other good reviews, I'm thinking we might have gone on an off day or possibly off time? Meet Noodles is such a gem in Hillsboro Village! My friend and I went and got a bunch of small places to share. Our waiter was so great and recommended us some of his favorites - they were all delicious! The basil fried chicken was my favorite of the small plates. Really decent place in the area. We definitely enjoyed the basil fried chicken which DID NOT have any basils or basil flavors but it was still good. Zhou's beef noodles was pretty okay with a flavorful broth. I expected the Chongqing noodles to be spicy but it was actually kinda bland in my opinion. Their chili paste on the table was not spicy at all but still tasty. The only reason I'm giving it a 4/5 is because there wasn't much of a service. Don't take me wrong tho, their staff members were really friendly and nice but nobody checked on us during the meal and I had to track down their servers TWICE because they forgot about our fried chicken. What a great find! This is super close to the Vanderbilt campus so they definitely get a ton of business. We were visiting from out of town and wanted something quick and easy at the end of a long drive, and we weren't disappointed. The broth was flavorful and noodles were great. My husband replaced the normal noodles with the knife shave noodle and I personally think their normal noodles were better. You can build your own soup/ingredients here so you can get customize for what you want. One thing is our waiter doesn't seem to have great English so it took a few tries to get our order down. Not a deal breaker of course since we can just point. 4 free parking spots available in front of the restaurant, but plenty of street parking around - I think you have to pay but we got here late and didn't need to. read more

Just okay....I have had better broth at several ramen/saimin places here in town. Noddles and protein were good and typical.

There's indoor seating at the moment as they are completely renovating the entire inside of the restaurant. We were sat on the outdoor patio and it was great for people watching and getting some fresh air. We ordered way too much food, but all of it was delicious and flavor filled! Two orders of dumplings for table; the pork and chive and cabbage and pork. Plus an order of mini seafood rolls. No idea what seafood they used, but they were still good. The dipping sauces were clutch for both of these treats. My tomato sirloin noodles were fantastic and the portion was huge! The broth was a spicy tomato base with a nice spice, hint of oil, lots of veggies and sirloin. The sirloin was a little fatty for me, but the non-fatty bites were tender and a awesome addition to the soup. I had an outing here on a Friday evening. The restaurant was empty except for one other party. The menu had several options between appetizers, soups, and drinks. I decided to go with the shanxi sliced noodles. Soup is not my preference for any meal but can be quite warming in the winter, however this was summer time. My hot soup arrived and I began to critique the broth which is the foundation of any soup. I was quite pleased with the rich flavor that it imparted as I sipped away. The beef was thin and tinder and the bok choy wasn't over cooked. The noodles appeared to be fresh from the taste and texture. It had a very good flavor profile overall. I did try the vegetable noodle soup as well. I found it to be very bland and lackluster. It paled in comparison to the shanxi. I think I will have to return in the winter and try one or two more soups to form a better judgement of the food. read more

I visited Meet Noodles on a chilly Saturday afternoon on November 28, 2020. There's no indoor seating, but outdoor seating on the patio is available. Unfortunately, there's no patio heaters, so I'm not sure how this place will be attracting customers as the weather gets even colder. The Chinese chives pork dumplings were okay. They taste like the dumplings you can get from the frozen section at your groceries. I felt like the chongqing noodles tasted like and had the same consistency and texture as the noodles for chicken noodle soup - kinda like a angel hair pasta. The broth itself tasted rich and deep, but oily. The wontons were very small and sad. The takoyaki was seasoned, but was filled with a lot of starch batter and very little octopus, which was disappointing and I would not recommend. This review is for takeout only, and I had a great experience ordering some dumplings and apps - I ordered right from the counter since I was walking around the neighborhood and came back 15 minutes later to grab my eats. I took them back to my hotel and enjoyed with some vino, and overall great move on my part. I went with the pork and chive dumpling and the pork buns. The filled on the buns left a bit to be desired in terms of flavor and texture. The bun itself lacked a bit of moisture you'd typically find in a steamed bun, but whether that's on the fact that it was takeout or the preparation I don't know. The pork and chive dumplings were AMAZING. So delicious and fried to perfection, I would order exclusively those moving forward if I lived in the area.
