    Seafood Noodle Soup 海鲜面

Nestled within the five story functionalist utopia of Germantown's bland buildings, one thing breaks through the cookie cutter nature of the area. That, of course, is some solid Chinese food. This Germantown location of Steam Boys is the first one to have opened in 2019, kicking off this small group of restaurants into high gear. The group of five friends who traveled through China to find the best recipes established this much needed establishment to introduce Nashville to proper Chinese food. Dishes like soup dumplings and seafood noodle soup are all around solid. The noodle soup is quite flavorful and the seafood I tasted quite fresh. The soup dumplings aren't necessarily to rave for, but still solid. Staff are accommodating and easy to interact with. As a whole, a great spot to enjoy some quality Chinese food in a city where this genre is still quite limited or heavily Americanized.

Ok so I just got late to this party so yeah, ready it with my fresh and excited belly eyes, k? K! Wow! This is delicious. There jk, but seriously, everything they have it's good. You can't go wrong at all. I believe the $3.50 extra to have the boa seared is not really worth it. Have it for sure but have them steamed 1st so you can see the real difference. The Hot dumplings bowl is great but it's the later killer so enjoy it at the moment (evil laugh). For the location, this location is as usual around town, parking sucks but they do have paid parking and some free parallel parking for those who can. The decor and feel is casual and a hybrid of a seat down and fast food space. Come check them out!

Food: 5* Service: 4* Ambiance: 4* I enjoyed picking up dinner here. I ordered the pork and shrimp steamed chili bowl (5*). They were tender, very flavorful, and spicy. It hit the spot. I also ordered the Xiao long bao (soup dumplings) (4*). They were actually under-seasoned and almost bland. I appreciate the work that went 8th them to make, but they needed more flavor. Once I added a sauce, they were good. Service was good. They were helpful, friendly, and mostly fast. Remember the soup dumplings take at least 15 minutes. So be aware.

Took myself on a solo date here and I loved it. My favorite thing I got were the pork and shrimp dumplings. They were flavorful, warm and comforting. I also got the steamed bao and the seared bao. I personally liked the seared bao better as they were a better size to eat. The steamed bao were pretty big and mostly dough so I didn't get to finish it. Parking can be hard to find here, there are some street spaces but the spaces nearby are pay to park with PMC. Server was nice and because I was there by myself and not a lot of people were there I was able to get my food fairly quickly.

Always great soup here, perfect for a rainy evening! Medium spice level feels spicy at first but you get used to it! Cucumbers are delish. Also love the soup dumplings.

HOT AND STEAMY | no one would think to find soup dumplings in Nashville, Tennessee of all cities - so I was pretty excited to find them at Steam Boys while I was craving them. I had low expectations so I wasn't super disappointed with what we got. $9.50 for 5 steamed soup dumplings is a bit steep (especially when I ordered them in 2022...) but overall they aren't bad. They're individually steamed in mini foil tins, which is kind a nice touch since it catches any stray soup leaks. The hot dumpling bowl wasn't as spicy as I would have hoped but it did hit the spot. The Juicy Pork Seared Baos were ok but not memorable. Everything was a-ok. I actually did stop by another location again this year for just the soup dumplings - while they're not the best I've ever had, they do satisfy the craving!

Admittedly, I've never been to their restaurant. But-they did cater an event at my building and I've got to say these are some of the best dumplings I've ever had outside of Asia. Flavorful, perfect texture, great mouth feel (important with dumplings-not too mushy, not too doughy). They're American sized (HUGE) and the flavor is incredible. I was full with two. I'll definitely be checking out their restaurant as soon as I can. If the storefront is anything like their food, I can't wait. So good! So tasty!

Holy smokes this place is amazing. They're super quick with their service and honestly if you go with a group the pricing is amazing. We ordered quite a few things to try it all and it was delicious. Their beef and pork are quite delicious. We will definitely be back!

I love steamboys, but the times I've visited recently. I feel like the service has gone down. I waited 20 minutes just for my milk tea and when it was ready, it was still the wrong flavor. They had to remake it.

My friend and I went here on a whim before seeing Mirador at the Belcourt theater. We wanted…read morenoodles, and figured this was going to be just another noodle bar but to our surprise, it was an authentic Chinese restaurant. Nobody was inside, it was just the two of us. Very quiet. The owners spoke little English, but the food was amazing! I highly recommend going.

The daughter was eager to bring me to Meet Noodles. She was so happy to have found a place that…read moreserved Chong Qing Broth and Sliced Noodles which she missed from her undergraduate years in Hawaii. It was an interesting restaurant as we walked in. The decor didn't come across as Chinese. I'm glad my daughter was familiar with the place because I would not have known to go to the back counter to order. I tried asking a couple things about the menu but could not understand the worker that well. It seemed that he couldn't understand me either because he initially put in the wrong orders -- my daughter caught it before we paid. Very reasonable prices. I ordered the Roast Duck Noodles with the Marinated Egg added. My daughter got her usual "Build a Bowl" of Chong Qing Broth, Sliced Noodles, Steak and Fried Egg. I thought I had ordered a Shrimp Wonton appetizer, but a bowl of soup arrived. After asking the worker about it, he just kept saying it was soup (I know), so I just left that alone. Overall quite delicious -- very authentic Chinese flavors. Excellent house made noodles. The depth of flavor in the broths was fantastic. The proteins were seasoned nicely and cooked well. The bok choy in my soup still had a nice bite. The fried egg was crispy on the edges and perfectly runny in the middle. Unfortunately, I found the marinated egg too salty. Service was minimal -- after ordering, the food comes out and that's it. If you need something, you have to get up to ask. No one checks in. The area wasn't busy when we arrived, so parking was very easy right in front. I'm told it does get tough during peak times. I would definitely return for the food, not the service.

I wavered between a 3 or 4 star review for this restaurant so take that as you will. This place has…read morewon many awards and was "good". I have eaten Thai from Washington state to Florida and everything in between. I always get chicken pad Thai as a barometer to compare between restaurants. I can't believe it but the very best Thai restaurant I have experienced is in Frankfort Ky. I'm spoiled so even a "good" experience isn't going to rank as high. This is a really cute restaurant and from the parking lot I knew it was a local favorite. Chicken and cabbage dumplings were excellent. Pad Thai was good, as mentioned. The sauce wasn't very flavorful and while I like onions, this dish had A LOT. Red and green onion and not consistently chopped. The green onions were very large, fibrous pieces that were difficult to eat. I also like the egg component but this dish had a lot of egg and seemed to be a large filler. We also had the pad see ew with chicken. Also good, but not outstanding. The service was top notch and the restrooms were very clean.

I'd definitely recommend dining in - we went in on a rainy Thursday around 6 and it was already packed, but a table for two opened within about five minutes. Service is great and food hits the table quickly. We started with the fresh rolls, chicken and cabbage dumplings, and the tom kha. We added a side of peanut sauce, which was a game changer for the fresh rolls. The tom kha was a little tart for my taste, but was loaded with veggies that were cooked perfectly. The dumplings were super tender, and the fresh rolls are my favorite in town! For entrees, we got the pad thai and pad see-ew with rice noodles. Both absolutely delish, and we loved how the pad see-ew was prepared simply and traditionally with Chinese broccoli. Those portions are not to be reckoned with... we ended up taking two boxes full of noodles home! Their sticky rice with mango was our favorite bite of the night. The rice was the PERFECT texture, in a not-too-sweet sauce, topped with toasted coconut, and the juiciest, sweetest mango. What a treat.
