My wife came to visit me from California and we only had two nights together in Nashville, so we decided to go on a date here. Unfortunately it turned into one of the most disappointing dining experiences we've had. After ordering, no one told us how long the wait would be. Thirty minutes passed, then forty-five minutes, then over an hour. Each time we asked, we were told it would be "just a couple more minutes." After 1 hour and 20 minutes, it was already around 8:30 PM and we had essentially spent our entire evening waiting for food that never came. I finally asked for a refund. They refunded the order, but there was no apology and no attempt to make the situation right, even after we had waited that long. What made the situation even worse was that a lady who ordered about 5 minutes before we finally left was given what appeared to be our food, even though we had already been waiting over an hour and 20 minutes. Watching someone who ordered after us receive food while we walked away with nothing was incredibly frustrating. The food here might be good--we honestly wouldn't know. But the system and communication were extremely poor, and the way the situation was handled left us feeling completely disregarded. When someone only has a couple nights in town, an experience like this really matters. I hope the restaurant works on their ordering system and customer service so others don't have the same experience. read more

We finally got around to ordering delivery from Golden Prawn #3, and I am stoked to have such delicious Chinese food nearby! Seriously, I think their orange chicken may be the best I've ever had. Delivery was quick and easy through UberEats. I will say that I had logged in a few times before to find that delivery was not available. Definitely double check in the app before getting your hopes up! It also looks like their Hot Line is only open from 11 AM - 4 PM. I ordered the 2 Item Plate for myself, with orange chicken, garlicky green beans, and Jasmine rice. My husband ordered the 3 Item Plate with orange chicken, kung pao chicken, char siu pork, and fried rice. We also tacked on some hot & sour soup and an order of shrimp and pork dumplings. Everything was hot, fresh, and full of those nostalgic Chinese takeout flavors we know and love. So I was a bit disappointed that our order was not put in correctly and when we got to the condo we thought we were missing something. It was frustrating too because their phone number was not working or they disable it at times. We reached out to them on instagram and they totally responded and cleared the situation. Food was good but honestly not what I was expecting and for 80+ worth of take out Chinese I was expecting better but the food was still good. The place isn't very inviting to stay so it's tailored to to-go orders. I don't think they have bathrooms for customers so that's a big problem if you are to stay. They do have a few counter top tables along the windows but nothing for a big crowd. They have a parking lot that gets really busy. Definitely try it and make your own option on the place. read more

Social media has its way of sucking you in. Based off all of the reviews, I had to make my way to Golden Prawn #3. Finding a decent Chinese takeout was hard to come by in the area, but I must say I'm rather pleased with this try. Came here on a Saturday afternoon around 2:30, so a little before their closing time of 4pm. There were maybe 3 individuals ahead of me and few others trickled in after. Line wasn't extremely long, so maybe the newness has worn down and it won't be as hard to get in to grab a bite. They have a hot bar line you can order off of or specific menu items. When ordering off the hot line you have the option of 1 item/2 item/3 item and side of rice or chow mein. You can do a split option of the rice and chow mein and pick your desired entree item based off the choice. I was told the hot line options change. I'm unsure of how frequent they change though. Based off my choice of the split side, orange chicken, and beef and broccoli; I must say I was pleased. All were packed with flavor and a reasonable portion of each was given. I was able to eat on this 1 meal throughout the remainder of the day. Spring rolls 1/3 Shrimp Pot stickers 2/3 they would have been better had they been made fresh. One of the most hyped openings this winter, Golden Prawn #3 provides comfort and nostalgia wrapped in a witty fortune cookie. Promising the msg-laden, fried, delicious Chinese takeout of my youth, Golden Prawn is really ideal as pure takeaway. There is a small private parking lot, but other than about 6 seats at their window, there is not much space set up to dine in here. The inside is very clean and I love the kitchsy decoration with Chinese takeout menus from other local spots (though they miss my favorite from old Nashville, Golden Coast.) I came for lunch on day 3 of service and they were slammed; despite the line moving quickly, it took me about 20 minutes to get my food. It's purely buffet style right now and they hope to add entrees and other items eventually. Menu is reasonably priced and you get a hefty serving of a main item and a side for about $11. I opted for two mains (orange chicken and kung pao), did the half fried rice half chow mein, and also added on dumplings and egg rolls for $2 each. It all came to about $20 and lasted me two meals. I'm a massive fan of ESP and ESB so my hopes were high. The orange chicken, kung pao, and chow mein were the best items. Flavor I expected, generally enjoyable. I did not like the fried rice; it tasted a bit of ginger and I'm not certain why. The dumplings and egg rolls were fine but not my personal taste (though I did eat them cold.) Overall good but not the great I was expecting and I feel like it didn't fully bring me back to childhood lunches with my dad at Golden Coast. Almost tasted more real, less artificial, which is just not what I want for greasy Chinese takeout; just not enough msg for my personal taste! It's a good lunch option if craving reasonably priced Chinese if in the area but I think I'm more likely to go back to my tried and true favorites of ESP and ESB. read more

I'll start by saying I ordered delivery through Uber Eats, I wish I had waited to try it for the first time at the restaurant. Overall, the food was fine, but it didn't quite live up to my favorite spot back in Missouri. The noodles were great. The orange chicken had a good taste, but the sauce was gloopy. They have a limited menu for now but will had a bigger selection soon. Mostly take out with a few seats at the counter for folks who can't wait to eat their food. Everyone was SUPER friendly and kind, service was A+ for sure. But the food needs a little bit more pizzazz for my taste. I think the fried rice was my favorite due to the hint of ginger. But it was sort of dry, which seems odd because it couldn't have been more than 30 minutes old since that's how long before I got there that they opened. The noodles had good flavor but I wanted more... it was like a hint. Texture was good. The orange chicken could have been both crispier and saucier (I know it's hard to master but it is possible). The ginger from the rice and orange in the chicken was a delightful combo, I just wish the flavors were stronger all around. Golden Prawn #3 is as advertised - Chinese takeout! It's a pretty simple store with a few bar height seats and a counter for ordering. All the food I had was reasonably priced and good, although the portions felt small for the container. Staff was kind and hard working. East side pho is my favorite pho, and I moved from Chicago. So, I knew this creation was going to meet that high of a standard. I can't wait to try more. Went to GP after the big rush after they opened. Food was very good. Ordered from the line which is their buffet options when you walk in. Had the option where you picked a plate of three choices plus your rice or noodles. You can also order a split where you get half rice half noodles. My favourites were the orange chicken and the sweet and sour pork. The rice wasn't that great but the lo mein was great. I do feel like the time I went to get food the food had been standing there for quite some time so I would recommend going early to get a fresh batch. read more

The orange chicken was so good and very authentic ..not that typical fake sweet and sour taste. This was great tasting with real orange zest the only thing was the chicken itself wasn't fresh. This probably would've made it 5 stars had the chicken not been soggy. Maybe it was a bad/slow day idk. The roasted pork was great. The Mongolian beef was great until I ran across one itty bitty pepper at the end and mannn was that thing so spicy it was on my tongue for hours even after brushing. lol. I didn't take off a star for that though because spice is preference I just can't tolerate it. Everything was pretty good. Noodles were good. Didn't try the rice. I will be back. Tried Golden Prawn #3 for the first time today and it is mehh if I'm being totally honest. Maybe growing up in SF's Chinatown spoiled me. Although they did end up soggy, the Salt and Pepper Shrimp was the only item I slightly enjoyed. Chow Mein had an overpowering onion taste, Fried Rice tasted strongly of ginger. After waiting for the early hype to die down we made our way here and we've been back twice since. I give it five stars because it's not the best Chinese food I've ever eaten but it's by far the best I've had in Nashville. I grew up in NYC and have eaten Chinese take out from many different places over the years. This place definitely measures up. It's a comfort knowing I can a get a great meal in a pinch. It's all good to very good. The hot and sour soup is pretty slamming. The hot line makes things quick and easy. Went last week was excited about a new place right down the street. But unfortunately, it was just ok but they definitely have some major kinks to work through. The pricing is astronomical for basic Chinese food. The orange chicken isn't even the slightest bit crispy which is pretty disappointing especially for the price. Kinda lacked flavor. But it has potential. If they come down on the price and master some of the recipes I may return. We ordered orange chicken, Mongolian beef, deluxe fried rice, we also wanted vegetable lo mein as the side with our entrees instead of white rice which I can understand being a slight upgrade but they said they couldn't do that at this time so it was charged as an entree... we also got lettuce wraps and shrimp/pork dumplings. We were excited to try this new Chinese takeout restaurant in our neighborhood. Unfortunately, this is the worst Chinese food I have ever eaten - and I've eaten a lot of Chinese food all over the world. We ordered a 1 entree (vegetable) bowl and a 2 Entree (vegetable and Kung Pao Chicken) plate with sides of hot and sour soup and "spring" rolls. The takeout containers were surprisingly less than half full. The bowl contained a small mound of greasy, flavorless, white rice with perhaps a cup of mushy, overcooked, unseasoned, mystery vegetables and two 1" cubes of tofu. The plate included the same vegetable/rice combination along with bland, overcooked chicken and a few greasy noodles. The hot and sour soup was neither hot, nor sour, but was thick and glutinous like mucous with mystery chunks floating in it. The "spring" rolls were not spring rolls; they were over-fried, nearly empty egg rolls.
