Really annoyed and disappointed that I'm not enjoying the Nacho Fries we asked our server to pack up for us. I had about 90 percent of it left over and was really looking forward to being alone with my food but when I opened up the takeaway packages, there were only a few fries from my companion's inferior order (Garlic Fries which are too wet and not garlic-y enough though the creamy dip makes them better) and NONE of my barely touched yummy Nacho Fries. We had the Cauliflower Bites (agree with those who find these good but overly sweet and kind of one dimensional; see the cauliflower at Nuba for an awesome cauliflower appetizer), Meet Burger on kaiser bun with Daiya Cheese subbed with Nacho Fries, and the BBQ & Blues with kaiser bun subbed with Garlic Fries. The burgers were not bad at all but Loving Hut, Tera V Burger & The Naam have tastier vegan burgers. I've also tried the Portobello Burger with a GF bun option and Hot Chiggin' Things which were OK. The Chiggin' Things were very filling and "meaty" but the buffalo sauce was underwhelming for me because I was comparing them to the ones at Violette's Vegan Eatery (in Vegas) which are amazing and loaded with layers of flavour. I do love that they have a real gluten-free vegan bun option rather than a collard wrap, for example, but it needs to be really liberally dressed to mitigate the dry denseness of it. The Panne Rizo GF vegan bun that Loving Hut & Tera V use is a lot better but understandably a house made bun is more cost effective. I agree with those who feel the onion rings are just OK as they are overly greasy and one dimensional. I only had a few bites of my food as I was saving it for when I could be alone and was especially looking forward to chowing down on my Nacho Fries, which were a standout. I have no idea why she didn't pack them and they are what I was most looking forward to. It feels like I got stolen from inadvertently and now have to make alternate lunch plans. The environment is a much roomier and ventilated The Naam with improved restrooms. The service has been very friendly, attentive, and helpful (other than the missing food snafu). When we drove by Meet earlier that night, it was hopping with folks waiting outside, good sign for a new spot, especially a veg place, I thought. There are no other late night options in my hood so we thought why not. As we sat down, we were told the kitchen was closing but that we could still order which we appreciated. We decided quickly and ordered. We hadn't decided on the drinks so we asked for a few more minutes. The server did not come back for 5, 10 minutes, no water or anything. My husband had to get up yo ask one of the 4 servers (there were 4 other tables, all pretty much done) if we could order drinks. The food came quickly and ALL 4 servers came by to ask how we were doing in the following couple of minutes (it was more than half an hour before closing) and felt like they were rushing us out. The food was subpar at best except for the cauliflower and fries. The onions rings were terrible. The salad dressings and dip for the fries seemed to be the same thing, tasted mostly like smoked paprika (which I like, just not that heavy handed). We didn't have the burgers (I can make Gardein burgers at home) or the bowls (some sound downright terrible, potato salad, BBQ sauce and black bean chili?!? Seriously?) I loved Tonkin in this space and this transformation makes me miss it even more. read more

Meet on Main has one of the best burgers I've ever eaten--hands down. It's been months and I still can't believe it was entirely vegan. I wound up recommending the spot to everyone I knew who lived in the Pacific NW, just in case they ever happened to go up to Vancouver. When I stopped by the lunch rush had just ended, so only one other table was occupied--meaning I got to relax and take my sweet time devouring all the unhealthy vegan food I could get my hands on. I ordered the mac-n-cheez burger to start and was pleased to find that besides the burger itself being pretty hearty, the fries and beet salad were also a good size. The fries were alright, a bit crispy and oily for my tastes, but edible. The beet salad was actually quite tasty, and I wound up copying it at home a few days later. The burger itself was fantastic. From the very first bite I started wondering how in the hell it was vegan. It tasted and felt exactly like meat! The pickled jalapenos and the chili-mayo were a nice accompaniment to what otherwise would've been a very one-note burger, and I really enjoyed their vegan mac and cheese (although it didn't quite taste cheesy). The only thing on the burger that I could've done without were the onion rings, they made the burger a bit clunky and didn't really do a lot when it came to flavor. For dessert I wound up getting a cronut. As someone who has had the NYC original (Dominique Ansel's) I can definitively say that Meet on Main's version can't compare. It's too flakey and dry, and is basically 90% croissant and only 10% donut. It wound up being quite messy to eat and not very memorable. I wish I'd tried the cheezcake instead. I don't think I'll be back in Vancouver any time soon, but when I do return I'll make sure to stop by Meet on Main for another burger. read more

I wasn't expecting anything special from Meet on Main, but I was surprised to find such an interesting and diverse vegan menu. Our party of 3 ordered the cauliflower bites, buffalo chiggen, homemade chili, the mac & cheez burger and the asian noodle bowl. All of which were fantastic and full of flavour. The cheese and chicken alternatives were delicious and had me almost worried that they were the real thing (I am a pesco-pollo vegetarian of 2 months now). The atmosphere and service were amazing. I have literally never left a review for anything but had to leave one after the insanely awesome customer service I received tonight. The food at Meet is always good, but tonight their staff went above and beyond. Here it is: I ordered through Door Dash and they left the wrong food on my stoop, which was only really an issue because I'm vegetarian and they left a sashimi platter. I called Meet because I couldn't reach the delivery driver and didn't want to see the food go to waste. The manager at Meet tried to reach the driver, but when that didn't happen offered to have a new order made and personally delivered it to me free of charge. Honestly. I am so grateful for such amazing service, especially given how busy all the take out places are right now. Thanks Meet! You remain my favorite Vancouver haunt, not just because of the food but also the folks! (And don't worry my neighbor studying for her comps took the sashimi platter, so no waste!) read more

Gave this place a couple different visits. Wanted to really like it, but sadly, the execution falls flat. The last time I went, I asked the server to omit a certain ingredient in the salad, he said he would check with the kitchen, he never got back to us, and brought out the dish as is listed. Food is oversalted, and often has a strange greasy aftertaste, which I've experienced after eating the burgers. Burgers tend to fall apart after one bite, the buns they use are a bit too small. 3 months have passed, and I've now been to Meet no less than 6 times. Over this time I've noticed a significant improvement in the quality of the food. I still highly recommend the Sweet Chili Cauliflower and Hot Chiggin' Things, but I will add The Amsterdam (veggie "meatballs" with sauerkraut), Portobello Burger, and Steamed Kale with Cashew Gravy to my "must try" list. I gave the french fries a second shot after my first (disappointing) experience, and I can say they are much much better now! Such a wonderful restaurant to have in my neighborhood! read more

We went on a weeknight, waited about 30 minutes for a table. Atmosphere is what you would expect of a small restaurant on Main Street - wood decor, cozy vibe, very hipster. Service was overall pretty good. Nothing memorable but no complaints. It was a bit difficult to flag down the waitstaff since it was so busy inside. We shared the spicy "chicken" wings to start. They were tasty considering they weren't actually chicken! I tried the Seoul Bowl for my entree. It was pretty on par for what I expected. Lots of flavor and very filling. A bit on the salty side though in my opinion. My friend ordered the El Fab, and, because she is allergic to nuts there were quite a few substitutions to the dish. Meet on Main did a good job accommodating for the substitutions. If you're looking for a chill, Main Street vibe serving vegan comfort food, this is the place to be! read more

Finally gave this place a try, after a series of disappointments from other newly opened eateries in the city. The place was full and buzzing when me and my friend arrived around 8PM on Friday, but we were quickly seated after 10 minutes or less of a wait. It was very spacious inside with cool decor and lots of seating options. As soon as I sat down, I noticed how diverse the crowd was: The place was packed with people in suits, families with children, a few hipsters(of course), foodies, and a group of suburban wives on a night out. Wait. Isn't this place supposed to be vegetarian? Hmm... I expected more of the Main Street hipsters than anything! The place also had such a positive energy, with everyone seem to be enjoying their food and just having a blast. We were looking for something light and healthy after having a monster feast for lunch earlier in the day, so we skipped the tempting appies and opted for the rice bowls. My friend had the El Revolucion and I chose Macro. The food was fantastic. Cashew Gravy was irresistably rich and flavourful and the few bits of dried chilli flakes perfectly complimented the richness with the right amount of heat. And you just got to love that sauteed mushroom bits. Brown rice was also done perfectly, which really is rare to see in a non-Asian establishment, belive it or not. The portion size was huge. This definitely will fill you up and maybe have some leftover for breakfast next day. All in all, it was such a satisfying meal, from the taste, the complimenting ingredients and the portion size. I had a spoonful of my friend's El Revolucion as well, and it was also delicious with a hint of coconut milk flavour. It reminded me of Japanese Taco Rice merged with Thai Curry. The service was great, as our server checked in on us numerous times even though it was extremely busy, and she kept appologizing for the slight delay in the kitchen, when we did not even wait that long for the food! This showed that they pay attention to that extra fine detail in keeping their guests happy. There is no such thing as overkill when it comes to customer service, and these guys get it. I cannot wait to go back and try their to-share dishes. Meet On Main is a welcome addition to the already solid Veggie/Vegan scene in Vancouver, and I hope to dine here for years to come. read more

I just came from my first time at Meet on Main. For atmosphere I give the place 5 stars. Really nice and warm, with a buzz and a glow. For service I also give a 5. The staff were welcoming and attentive. Many of the menu items were described to me in detail, including the source of the ingredients and how stuff was made in house. For food I give a 3 for "pretty good." I had the kale and romaine Caesar salad with BBQ chiggin. It was good, but not like "holy mother of cheeses" amazing. I liked how the chiggin had a nice crispy outside, and the greens were fresh, but the dressing/sauce (one or both, not sure) was a little salty and perhaps missing an umami substitute (the non-vegan umami in a classic Caesar would be anchovy). Anyhow, all round a really great experience. I will go back and bring friends! read more

Ok, so the food is great. The three stars are solely for the food. I love all their burgers, their hot chiggen things, their fries, their bowls...it's all good. I can't stop going because I love the food so much. Which sucks because the service/organization of the place is absolutely terrible. They are consistently busy, so it baffles me that they constantly seem understaffed. Or not even understaffed, there's usually several staff members standing around looking confused. Last time I was there I waited a half hour to get in, and while the wait was not their fault, it's extremely frustrating to see several dirty tables which you know wont get cleaned/sat anytime soon because it takes the staff SO LONG to do everything. So overall, food is good and the staff are nice, but mostly kind of incompetent. read more

Although the food was ok, the service was unimpressive. I was there with my family. It started ok. We placed our order and had our drinks and appy delivered within a reasonable timeframe. We then we sat there and waited for the next 45 min!! The server didn't come by once during that time. Other tables which came later and had placed there orders much later had there food delivered before ours. When I asked the server where our food was, she indicated she'd check. A few minutes later, she came back to apologize and told me there was a rush and there were 3 more orders before they would get to ours!!! Really?!? How can a table who came in 40 min after ours get there food and we would still need to wait?!? We waited an additional 15 min before the food came out. The Mac & Cheese was ok, but you can get a better "beyond meat" burgers at A&W for less. We were very disappointed by the experience. read more

I went here on Boxing day. I had the Anger Burg (a beer battered patty and buffalo wing sauce). It was awesome. I also had the fries and onion rings (called Hocus Pocus). This easily could have been a 1 or 2-star review but the customer service here is on point! Shout out to whoever trains the staff there or the manager on shift that night. We got there at 7pm. We were told our wait would be 20minutes. After 30 minutes we asked about our table and they quickly apologized and offered to bring us chips and salsa while we waited. Another ten minutes passed and we were seated. We had looked at a menu while we were waiting so we knew exactly what we wanted and ordered right way. After a long day of hiking and exploring the seaside, we were hungry! We waited again...then, we saw the table that was seated after us get their food, and another table seated after us get their food. We all ordered burgers and everyone who was getting their food were getting the same burgers as us, how could this be?! Another 45 minutes went by until we got our food. Either the kitchen lost our slip, or the server forgot to put in our order. Anyways, we were just happy to get our food and the food was delicious! The portion size was massive and it was exactly what we needed. Without complaining or asking they offered us a free dessert on the house for our wait for our food and deeply apologized. They knew they had messed up. This should have never happened, but they did well with owning up to their mistakes and fixing them as best they could. Overall, the vegan food here is amazing and I would recommend this place to all! The vibe inside is super hip and the staff was very friendly and professional. read more

So, so good... Vegan, gluten free burgers are awesome. Sure it's a tad on the pricey side for burger, fries and salad. But it's Main Street and rent is expensive, we get it. And it's actually worth it. Burger is delicious and has good texture. Fries are hand-cut and crispy on the outside. All menu items are vegan and can be made gluten-friendly... can't ask for more than that, except for flavour, and they got it down. Simply said - yum. Good food, good value. It's feel good food. After putting in a complicated order one person in our party didn't realize she would get goat feta instead of regular feta, and as soon as they noticed her pushing it aside they brought out regular cheese and a tofu feta they're trying out. I am definitely not a vegan, but one of my closest gal pals is and she insisted I tag along and come to Meet on Main with her one day. I was skeptical after looking over the menu and seeing the array of burgers, poutines, assorted rice/pasta dishes, and... chiggin' things (?!) but I agreed to go along with her, and booooy am I glad I did! Not only were the staff amazingly attentive and friendly (and super accommodating to my nut allergy), but the food was incredible!! I had the Seoul bowl which literally made my soul happy, and I loved the decor and ambience inside. Decided to check this place out so went last week with a friend. Although it was a Thursday night, the place was sure busy with a good energetic vibe. Didn't have to wait long before we got seated (they don't take reservations for small parties). We ordered a bunch of stuff to share i.e cauliflower, steamed kale, chickpea salad all of which were pretty good, but the winner was the portobello burger hands down. That along with the garlic fries made the meal most delicious and memorable. Staff were very friendly and always attentive. We happened to be the last table left but we never felt rushed. Fries were not bad but did bring enough gravy rite away until we asked, and we had ordered a large gravy. I read the reviews so had fairly high expectations. First thing I have to admit is that we totally pigged out. We started with the cauliflower bites and kale appy. We then ordered the mac and cheese and the portobello mushroom burger. I then finished up with cookie dough balls. My partner (vegan for almost 8 months) says this is the best vegan food he's had yet. It was comforting, delicious, and really affordable. I was almost embarrassed by how low the bill was when it was all said and done. The cauliflower bites are a really great substitute for junky pub food. It totally feels like you're being naughty, but it's just cauliflower. I had to stop my partner from drinking the cashew sauce from the kale straight from the bowl. And the mac and cheese ..... it doesn't even matter that it was vegan. It was the yummiest I've ever had - creamy and complex flavour. So good! We can't wait to go back! read more
