As a vegetarian, I really like that there is another option for vege food on main St besides just Foundation and Budgies. But the Angry Burg was just horrible. It's completely saturated in the most overly tangy sauce. It's so slippery that when you bite into it the patty shoots out the other end. Sauce is all over your hands and face. I was disappointed as it was not spectacular as other reviews stated. I feel like it was just an overpriced veggie burger with fries and it took about 20-25 mins for my order. Decent food. Well, my "Chiggin Wings" were good, the garlic fries were drenched in grease and didn't really taste like anything. Not good. It all wouldn't have been that bad except that we waited forever for our food. Not gonna be going back unless it's for a to-go order of the wings. read more

Went to this place to catch up with a friend. Ordered a bowl, I forgot what bowl it was exactly but it was similar to an open burrito. It was delicious and very filling. I really enjoyed the food and atmosphere at Meet on Main. It's a unique place to go try different vegetarian choices. I had read about Meet on main in the newspaper and really wanted to try it with my vegetarian friends. I was impressed with all of their dishes. I ordered the mac n cheese with 'italian sausage'. The only thing that gave away that the sausage wasn't meat was the texture but I didn't mind it because it was soooo tasty! The cheese sauce was made from cashews which I had never tried before and would never have guessed it wasn't made from cheese! We also ordered the sweet chili cauliflower to start. I'm not a huge fan of cauliflower but I'm a fan of this dish! My friends ordered one of the poutine dishes, the stroganoff dish and the macro. Everyone was super impressed! The service was also great. We had to wait a little longer than expected for our table and the server comped our appetizer which I thought was really sweet of her! I can't wait to go back and try one of their burgers. They looked amazing! read more

Vegetarian comfort food. I'm calling this an quieter, more adult version of the Foundation. Or maybe the Wallflower meets the Naam? Welcoming, casual, diner style atmosphere. Reasonable prices, tasty food. The menu includes big salads, a variety of 'burgers', and several different rice/quinoa bowls. There are also alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage choices. I had the beet salad (delish, but I needed a bowl of cereal before bed...) and my partner devoured the mac 'n cheese burger. The fries were a bit sad - we should have sent them back. Oh well. I wish I could go back in time and never stop at this place. My wife and I were seated at a table in the middle of the restaurant and it took 15 minutes for anyone to stop by our table. We were just there for drinks, so we ordered and waited. Drinks came out pretty quickly, but the server that delivered them never checked back in. The drink special was tasteless, and we wanted an opportunity to order another drink, unfortunately no one stopped by our table because they were too busy cleaning the every vacant table. There were other tables in the restaurant that got plenty of attention, but we sat for 45 minutes with no one stopping to see if we would like another drink, or if we could use a glasses of water or if we would like the check. A deep soft pleasing sigh; Hahhhhhhh. What a superb addition to Main Street, to Vancouver and to my best in the city list. This place has hit a home run, scored three points, landed a perfect kickflip down a ten stair, insert other goal scoring reference. After three visits it is time to write this very positive review. All three times going here, with my wife, with a small group, every time was a delight. Each time having a different server, sitting at a different type of table and trying different food. Meet on Main has excellent servers, with swell attitudes, enveloped in a lovely ambiance. Not every dish was a hit for me, but certain items blew me, and friends away. Fantastic food, good value, a fine drink menu, and a changing gallery wall to gawk at. Not only is there some epic and unique food items to enjoy, but also some pleasing design details throughout the space. If you haven't been there, go go go! read more

Rude service. The tan girl with black pigtails working on Easter Sunday night was rude as hell. Even the table next to us were shocked at her attitude. They made comments about her throwing the food at their table. Mind you they (the servers) weren't busy and were talking about wanting to leave work so badly. Anyways they messed up my order and missed jalapeños on my burger, not a big deal which I just asked for on the side. She said I got my partners burger which made no sense because we got different sauces. She just picked up the whole plate and made a new one without telling me or asking. Meet on Main and Meet in Gastown are the best vegetarian restaurants in Vancouver. The service is always great, the menu is in credible. The first time I had their house burger I thought they had accidentally served me beef. The sides are amazing, they have a decent selection of local beer and other drinks, and they're not too pricey. I had my wisdom tooth out recently and after a few days I wanted to eat something soft I could enjoy that wasn't mashed potatoes and gravy. I ordered the vegan mac n cheese with marinated portobello mushrooms and it did not disappoint! I'm lactose intolerant, so this was a great find for me. Seriously - THE best vegetarian restaurant!! We're vegetarians plus gluten free - a tough combination. A lot of vegetarian restaurant food can be bland or just like we'd make at home. We're always on the lookout for new places to eat when we're in Vancouver. We were impressed by the quality and range of items available at Meet. Casual and delicious comfort food at its best! Great atmosphere and very reasonable prices. The staff were friendly, courteous and helpful. A perfect place to meet up with friends or a date! Non-vegetarians wouldn't be disappointed either - truly, it was that good. We had the satay sauce mayo fries, incredible sweet chili cauliflower, whiskey BBQ things, the Meet Burger with an incredible caesar kale salad, topped off with chocolate-coconut ganache tart...yummy!!! My friend and I came here for an early dinner around 5pm on a Tuesday and it was already busy. The vibe here is pretty cool. A little bit squished but I feel like you get that with a lot of Vancouver restaurants. The food is straight up comfort food. I always assume "vegan" just means ultra healthy food but after this I can't imagine how many calories I actually took in lol. We shared the sweet-chili cauliflower to start and WOAH that was amazing. The taste was unreal and so flavorful I could've eaten these on their own and I'd be instantly sold on this place. For my entrée I got the BBQ burger. It was really good! I actually really liked the texture of the burger and how light it was. Beef burgers usually hurt my stomach so it was a nice change to eat a burger and not feel ill for once. I took half of it home though and when I ate it cold it tasted saltier... which was weird. I was already about to tap out and my friend suggested getting the chocolate tart. I don't know how anybody could eat this on their own. The crust was good but the ganache was ridiculously rich and I ended up feeling kind of sick at the end of it. I'm not a dessert person though. Anybody with a sweet tooth would love this for sure. The servers (we had multiple..) were great. They were all friendly, upbeat, and seemed to enjoy being at work. They seemed pretty knowledgeable about their kitchen practices. They made sure I didn't have any allergies when I requested no tomatoes and gave the couple beside us who seemed to have a lot of dietary restrictions a lot of information regarding ingredients and preparation. Oh my god it's all so good. The mac 'n' cheez (get it with chilli!), nacho fries, wings, fried cauliflower, and particularly all of the burgers. The cocktails are good and the atmosphere is pleasant. Now I must start this review with a few confessions. 1. I don't write many reviews 2. I'm not a vegan or vegetarian, as a matter of fact I enjoy steak. I'm here in Vancouver visiting family and decided to go for a walk (another thing I don't do normally, walking) and came upon the vintage rotating sign and since it was a cold day I thought why not grab lunch and get some shelter from the cold (44F). If you're tired of cookie cutter restaurant looks and looking for something different and unique you love this place. I especially like the lighting, and the vintage sewing leg fixtures of the main table in the room. I got the house made mint lemonade which was refreshing and had the perfect amount of sweetness (most places the lemonade taste like sugar water or has that carton taste, but not here). The meet burger is really good. Now I understand why people are giving up on meat. Oh if you have VHS videos at home that you haven't been able to watch since DVD days, bring it here, they have one of those old TV/VHS player units and play movies (on silence because trust me the music is great). read more

Good place to take a group made up of vegans/nonvegans as the food satisfies everyone. We all had burgers and were well satisfied with the generous portions of salad and fries to accompany the burgers. Great wait staff as well. A quibble, however, is the $1 extra charge for mustard. In my view, mustard and ketchup are standard additions to burgers but Not at Meet on Main. So, although I only wanted a spread of mustard on my bun, I had to pay a buck and got enough Dijon to dress 6 burgers. A minor issue, but vexatious! read more

I've been here many times, and it's usually very good. However, last night was a bit meh. I was trying to get my mom and sister to enjoy some delicious vegan fare, but sadly that did not happen. The buns were stale and dry, their burgers lacked in flavor, and the salad seemed to have only one drop of dressing in it. Aside from that, our appies (sweet cauliflower and hot chiggin things) were yummy, and fries and gravy super delish. I did not like the crumble or ice cream for dessert. The salted caramel ice cream was too salty, and the crumble didn't really taste like anything at all. I hear from others that it can be hit or miss. I am not giving up yet, but hopeful that they will work on inconsistencies. read more

Damn! Thank you Meet for providing us with an EXCEPTIONAL experience yesterday. I live about 45 minutes east from Vancouver so I don't get to indulge in all-vegan dining experiences very often. We ordered the sweet chili cauliflower appetizers.... wow. The flavor, texture, and seasoning of the sauce was on point. I'm really sensitive to spice and this had a little heat but was absolutely perfect. My friend wasn't overly hungry and just got the steamed kale (as far as that goes, delicious). I've been really into rice bowls lately so went with the beefless rice bowl. The "beef tips" had amazing texture and great punch of flavor and all the veg complimented it perfectly. If you like ginger, you'll love this as there was tiny little bits of it in there. Also got an order of the mac and cheese to go because honestly envisioned being mad at myself later if I didnt take that home for later. Loved that too although it didn't reheat too well because most of the sauce got absorbed :( wished I had ordered a dessert to take home as well! Can't wait to come back again and try more items on the menu. Only note I'd like to leave... the woman who seated us did not have good customer service. It wasn't overly busy when we were in around 11:30 am, and we requested to sit at a table for 3 as it gave us a little bit more privacy from the other tables. She seemed thoroughly annoyed by that and made it clear that we were inconveniencing her. If it was busy, we definitely would not have asked at all. If she needed us to sit at a table for 2, theres better ways to communicate that! We probably would have left if we had to be served by her (Luke was wonderful though). I'm sure everything else on the menu is great since the place is mostly known for comfort food .. I got the superfood green salad and it was pretty horrible. I don't even have high standards for salads but I've eaten better salads at restaurants that aren't vegan friendly, plus for $8.50 the salad was pretty small. The dressing was way to strong ... spirulina mixed with nutritional yeast is a bad combo, and the salad was mostly zucchini dominant.
