I know that portillos has gone downhill lately and their beefs are over priced but even they have more flavor. If you want "in my opinion" the best beef in Chicago, go to Mickey's in Bellwood. The absolute best I've had so far. One more thing. This place took an extra $4 from me because I didn't know that hotdogs came with a fry so when I ordered a beef a hotdog and a fry they sold me 2 orders of fries. I guess that was my fault too. I love going to Portillos for their burgers. That's right, not only do they do a great Chicago dog and Beef, they have fantastic burgers. Normally their burgers are more rounded but this one seemed to be a bit smashed. I enjoyed every bite of my hamburger with everything on it. You could get the $9.99 burger meal deal, but I upgraded to a large onion ring instead of fries, and it didn't disappoint. We also tried their giardiniera dip. This was a surprise because it's a new side sauce that Portillos is offering. It's also a first. I've never seen a giardiniera dip/sauce. It was served cold, which was a little off, we expected it to be warmer. Overall, you can get a great meal to go or seated inside. This particular location is always busy and is always on point with their great service.

The meat in the burger is very good. Their fries are crips and tasty. And they have a good selection of fountain drinks, with my favorite being their root beer. While I'm pleased they offer a gluten-free bun, the quality of the bun isn't as good as I've experienced elsewhere. When it gets wet from the burger juices, the bun falls apart leaving a mess. I'd really suggest they try a different brand or make their own. Aside from that minor issue, Culver's is definitely one of the best fast food places in our area.

First impression of the hamburger: kind of meh. No real "flavor" to it. Hardly any salt or pepper. There was nothing that said "savory" to me. and the bun just was sub-par. I think it was supposed to be a butter burger bun, but Culvers? You're skatin' here. This bun should be warm ir not mildly toasted! So- it was "meh". The grilled chicken sandwich- same bun issue as above, sorry to say. And the same lack of spice-flavors. The chicken was just- meh. Culvers - THIS is why I'm not enamored with you. There's no effort, only a high price. Give me a bit more flavor. Give me buns that feel like they didn't just come outta the cooler - as these did. I'll then be back. You definitely have to be in the mood for this because a cheesy Korean style corn dog is pretty heavy. I had like 1 bite left but I couldn't finish it. The cheese pull was crazyyyyy and the hot cheeto dust was so good I scraped it with a fork after to finish it all. I'd totally get it again. I think it was around $8 including tax and side of sauce.
