You can learn a lot about a business by how they conduct themselves in the community. While I've never used their plumbing services, I can say with confidence that I never would. As a neighbor, I've witnessed ongoing disrespect and disregard for others. Their work trucks routinely block the sidewalk and bike lane in front of a residential property, creating unsafe conditions for pedestrians, cyclists, and individuals with disabilities. Despite being asked multiple times to stop, the behavior continues. The city now has numerous photos of these violations, and I'll be submitting a formal complaint to the state licensing board. I had water gushing under my bedroom. Luis came in the afternoon. He diagnosed the leak and isolated it underneath a concrete slab next to my house. He sent Cody over, who did a great job removing the slab and dirt down to the pipe. We didn't need that water line, so he capped it, and the problem was solved that night. I was in desperate need for my kitchen sink to be repaired ASAP as it would not drain When I asked if I could have service at the end of the day, Luis accommodated my request and assured me that he would be able to fix my issue even though I was on the third floor of a three-story condo. I had Mega Rooter come to my elderly aunt and uncle's house, thinking the main line was clogged. Come to find out the sewer line collapsed under the house. I explained the house is in reverse mortgage and I don't know how to file for an approval with mortgage company. Next thing they are at the house and said there was an approval. They did the sewer line without seeing approval they left my aunt and uncle without hot water for 2 months. My uncle was in hospice, dying at home when these people came in demanding money. My uncle passed away Sept 17th worrying about the work they did without seeing approval. They didn't finish the work and the company put a lien on their house. This is elder abuse. read more

First of all - the team who came out was really great. And it all started the day before Christmas Eve so it was crazy timing. We had the kitchen sink back up early last year, but the people we called then didn't find the actual problem. They just cleaned out part of the pipes... So within a year it happened again and we wanted to try a different company. The Mega Rooter team found the cause of the problem so it won't happen again. Cesar was so helpful and really nice (and patient, answering a billion questions about everything) - he figured out the pipes were falling apart under the ground and had to dig two big holes through the cement and there they were - really destroyed pipes. As others have mentioned, the time frame and hours worked at the house were not well organized, but I don't fault Cesar or the other plumbers who worked with him - setting expectations and a timeline is a management problem. The team who came out and worked on the pipes did a great job with the plumbing and I'm so relieved to have it all taken care of and I don't feel they over charged me considering what I paid 5 years ago to a "big name" company for a bathroom pipe problem where they had to dig just one hole in the ground... I wish I could write a review on the service off this company. However, I can only write a review of the unprofessionalism and inability of the staff to allocate resources. September 7 2021: I called and explained my issue that a plumber suggested hydrojetting the line if we had trouble in the future. My original plumber said that it would take several days to come out so I contacted Mega Rooter. I was told that someone would be out between 3 and 4 PM that day. I received a text and email confirmation said I'd have a technician out between 3-3:30. 5:30 came, I called and asked if there was a technician still comin. The answer was yes. By 9:00PM I gave up and realized no-one was coming. September 8 2021: My partner calls the same company and they say they have no record of my call. I have an email and a text expressing the opposite. She gives Luis her contact info, her email address and our address... again. This time, she did not receive a courtesy email or text message of the confirmed time. She calls at 1:30 and speaks again with Luis. She asked if anyone was still coming and he said "Yeah, we can have someone out there... What is your address?" This would have our third time giving our information. At that time, she was over it and told Luis that we would look for another company. What she got back was a call shortly after 5 pm from a woman asking if service was still needed. She said she could have someone out between 7-8. She already had an appointment scheduled for Friday and politely declined. Already been stood up twice, we did not believe them. Summary: I saw the great reviews on service. When I called I was greeted by a "Hello!" that's it. No acknowledgment of the company or how can I help you. It was a bad sign. I then spent a day waiting for a plumber with no call about not coming even though I called to ask and make sure they were still coming. My partner tried the next day with similar results. They charged me $1800 to do a plumbing job that took 2.5 hours and about $30 in materials. I agreed to the price thinking it was a CYA price not knowing what would be involved to correct the plumbing issue. In the end they still charged me the $1800.00. That prices out at $700 an hour. This company is a serious rip off. I will never use them again and I recommend everyone to do the same! I'm a general contractor working all over San Diego and like to support local companies in the area I am working. The entire Mega Rooter team was fantastic. We had a major backup in our plumbing that started in the kitchen and caused our tub on the other side of the wall to backup with water. Turned out that the pipes were original to the house (60+ years old) and there was so much build up that the opening for water to flow was less than a half-inch in diameter. We ended up replacing all of the bathroom plumbing and during the project the tech noticed moisture behind the wall, which required more work but needed to be done (that part was, thankfully, covered by insurance). All in all a very good experience with Mega Rooter. They were very upfront with what the situation was, were tireless in running down the problems, and moved quickly to help us get the pipes replaced. The night before our sink backed up when we used the insinkerator. We didn't want to leave the problem hanging so we called for a plumber the next day, James came before his est. time of arrival promptly. I explained the problem and he gave me a quote and we were rolling. Except that our sink drain was super clogged that the regular snake was not enough. James informed me that he would need to use a more heavy machinery main line for our drain, and is normally cost $180, but he did not add that to our bill since it was unexpected. Long story short, he did what he had to do to get the job done, quickly and timely and started to clean up what he could. He gave me some next step advice to pass onto my landlord and I appreciated how he explained the issue in an understandable way.
