The chocolate pie rocks - something that is not widely available in SE Michigan. The pecan pie is also excellent. It tastes of roasted pecans and is appropriately sweet, not overly sweet. The venue is spacious, but lacks tables and chairs. Roger rocks the front counter and is a friendly fellow open to a brief chat or joke. Another bonus is Young's ice cream. read more

Upon a change in ownership, we saw that the formula for the chocolate icing was a disaster, and hoping for an improvement, we carefully selected today's Boston Cream Pies. I think there is a saying, "'even bad pie is better than no pie"! We this is fantastic pie. All different flavors I got blueberry. After the first bite I only ate 1/3 of the single slice I bought so I could have more pie later. It took me three days to eat that one slice so I could savor it. I bought a Mehaffies strawberry rhubarb pie at Fulton Farms today, and wow. What a massive disappointment. The crust is soft, yet tough & crumbly, tasteless, and too thick. There is very little filling. What there is contains almost no fruit. In one average-sized piece (3 1/4" across the top edge--about 1/8 to 1/6 of an 8-9" pie, depending on how you measure it), there are exactly four small pieces of rhubarb, and two pieces of strawberry. The rest is all just red-dyed, sugary, starchy-tasting goo. The filling has almost no flavor. It tasted very vaguely fruity, but the rhubarb was undetectable by taste. I think if you gave someone a bite while they were blindfolded, they would not be able to identify what it's supposed to be. I'd heard of this brand and thought it was supposed to be decent, but this pie is just awful. It's a rare treat for me to buy something like this, and I'll be throwing it away; it's not even fit to eat. Low-grade, industrial, tasteless. $13 totally wasted. read more

Hands down - Best peacan pie i ever had. The people here are real welcoming and professional.

First off, the staff is so friendly. I love that about them. We recently ordered the Lemon Dream Cheesecake, while the flavor was delicious, there was very little to no crust. Certain pieces had no crust while other pieces had a very, very thin crust. I'm not sure what happened, but it was like the crust just disappeared. This was super disappointing because pies should have a crust unless they are labeled "crustless," which this pie was not labeled as such. To sum up, taste was good, but execution was terrible. read more

We tried the sugar cream (similar to milk pie) and strawberry rhubarb pies and loved both. Strawberry rhubarb is my favorite pie and Mehaffies was perfect! The right balance of fruit and tart and sweet. I went back for seconds. The sugar cream is delightful as well with a satisfying custard texture. The crust has great flavor and texture as well. Our family attended the annual pumpkin patch festivities at Fulton Farms this weekend. We picked up a Mehaffie Peach pie, shelling out about $10 for one. When we arrived home we were in great anticipation of a nice treat, never guessing a $10 pie would contain less than one whole peach. That entire pie was about 1/2" thick and full of glaze. What a disappointment! I will complain to Fulton's next time we are in. Mehaffies Pies quality has definitely slipped. read more

If, in your childhood, you have ever helped your grandma make her fresh peach pie from her orchard; you understand how a made-from-scratch peach pie should taste. I have been very disappointed with the pies in this area (including DLM). The good news is my dentist is only two blocks away from Mehaffies pies. Mehaffie's has a wide variety of classically delicious pies. My favorites are the fresh strawberry pie and the sugar cream pie. The crust is perfect and the fillings are what you'd expect your grandma to make. My only issue with this establishment is their customer service. I have only purchased the pies from the store on Linden Ave, and some days the person working is happy and has great suggestions on what to buy that day, they happily punch your Mehaffie's card, and send you on your way! Other days it's someone who can barely stand to talk to you while you ring out, and looks at you like you're an idiot for wanting a receipt for your credit card purchase. If the customer service was more consistent I'd give them a higher rating. Overall the pies are amazing, but don't expect consistently good customer service! read more

Stopped into this place on a whim after reading the reviews and I am sold! I was greeted by a very friendly employee and he said his favorite was the apple pie. I purchased their apple crunch pie because of his recommendation and it was great! Real apple and the perfect crispy topping. Crust was great too! I also tried their cheesecake on a stick and that was the real game changer. I will be going back for that cheesecake whenever I have a craving. A friend of mine sold me two pies through the Pie Peddler fundraiser - one peach and one cherry. The peach pie was so yummy and didn't have a heavy syrup with it. The crust was even better than any other I've tasted. Most of the time I have to force myself to eat the crust. The cherry was tasty, as well, and not as tart as they often are. Pies! Pies! Makes me cry, cry, cry! I have tried their pies three times. The 1st time was a peanut butter pie with a whipped cream topping. It was quite tasty and would have earned more stars. The second and third time tries did not make it. I ordered another peanut butter pie, but instead of the whipped cream on top it was meringue. The Kroger brand had more taste. As for the chocolate, apple and blueberry pies... it just did not live up to the hype. I love desserts and wish once again this was a winner! read more

I've had their pies a few times. I'm not sure what they use in their crust recipe, but the pies all tasted like soap. The pies were different, so that's why I think it's something in the crusts. Plus, the crusts were soggy. So, all in all, I'd skip Mehaffies. read more
