I have been shopping at THIS Meijers since it opened. NEVER anywhere else, always MY STORE...But no more. I now go ANYWHERE else. Lately it has been terrible. 1. I had a full cart and almost completed my list. Someone moved my cart and I reported it. An employee and I were searching and she found out they thought it was abandoned. With my list sitting on top? I was in the produce section, and had to go to the bathroom. THAT bathroom was closed. So I had to run to the other one on the other side of the store. Very upset, all my stuff I spent over an hour getting. I just left. Even my list was gone. 2. No more U-SCAN IT except for 20 items or less. I do not want to have a conversation with rude people. I like to bag my things a certain way as to what goes in the upstairs fridge and what goes downstairs. Anal? Maybe....but this is how I prefer to do my shopping/ bagging. Plus I am a lot quicker. I can go on if I sit and think about more things..but that's about it..I usually would spend 200.00 easy every other week at Meijers. They lost a VERY loyal customer. I will only go there now IF I only have to get less than 20 items. read more

Yes I love places that are open 24 hrs. Since I work nights, I usually find myself at these places at night on my day off. They have everything you need. The grocery dept. has a great selection of fruits and veggies and the prices are pretty reasonable. read more

Not really much to say other than its a 1 stop shop. Need food they have it, need clothes they have it, need to change your oil they will have the supplies. Love the produce selection and really love the large organic section...and no I'm not a hippy! The only problem I have had is from the meat department....for some reason almost every time we buy meat it spoils the next day. Before anyone asks yes I checked the dates. So we learned our lesson and buy our meat elsewhere. read more

Due to COVID and a busy schedule I like the convenience of having my groceries delivered. I am very unhappy with Meijer's continuous stock outs on some basic grocery items. When I order from Meijer, it is almost a guarantee that I will need to make a trip to another grocery store to get the items that Meijer was out of. Northwest Indiana has the worst selection of grocery stores, the quality of meat and produce is the worst I've had. I like the quality of Whole Foods but the cost is much higher, and it is not a one stop shopping type of store. I am looking for a new grocery store. Does anyone have any suggestions? read more

I really like this grocery store. The produce is usually pretty nice and sometimes I get a good price on meat. My hubby really likes a yogurt drink called LaLa and I cannot seem to find it anywhere else. The Meijer brand has some things that are tastier than the name brand, mainly cereals and the saltine crackers. The bakery has a lot of really good things and their bread is delicious. I think the only thing I do not like is that the checkout situation is horrible!! The open lanes are packed to the max and the cashiers are slow. Granted I wonder if it is because of the scanning registers. On the self scanners I am a pro, I know where all the UPC codes are and even better I have memorized the produce codes for all my favorite produce (FYI they are the same at every store). When I use this store's self scanners I feel like I'm a 3 year old trying to tie my shoes. The scanners suck! Worse yet is that a lot of the people using the scanners seem to be so confused on how it works. It doesn't help that the scanners are terrible. Sadly it is an issue with this location AND the ones in Merrillville. I think it's time to upgrade these machines!! They have been here since the store opened and are not efficient! read more

I Used Shipt grocery delivery for the first time due to COVID. It was easy from beginning to end. I chose everything I needed from the store, chose the delivery date and time and put my credit card on file. This morning, Angela (my shopper), text as she was shopping. She substituted a couple of things and I added a couple of things. My delivery came about 10 minutes after the time window I was given. Angela had already let me know at the beginning that it might be a little late. It was no problem as I am working from home. I had put instructions on my order to leave the order on the front porch due to possible COVID in the house. I greeted her at the door and she made sure to put all cold items up front. read more

Do everything you can to avoid the deli counter on the weekends. Even with a crowd waiting, the deli staff meanders around with no sense of urgency. "Sorry for the wait" is just a saying. The produce is not the freshest in the area either. read more

In terms of produce, this location is ok. In terms of meat though, it's probably the most pathetic looking selection I've seen at a meijer. Actually any store for that matter. They do carry Eli's cheesecake on a stick though. Mmmmm. I ate that on my way back towards Chicago. The thing about Meijer too is that usually they have a pretty impressive ethnic aisle and this one was pretty okay.. I wish there was a Meijer IN Chicago. I'd go there all the time! We still hit Meijers for our main grocery fix, but one area that is a constant problem is the check out area. Their quick self check out is nothing close to that. You're either in line waiting behind someone having issues and waiting for employee assistance or you are the one holding up the line waiting for employee assistance. Every time I have decide to use the self check out I run into this problem. Other than that the grocery deals are still great so I had to just drop it down a star. read more

This is a 24/hour store.Have been shopping at Meijer as an alternative to Target/Walmart for some time now. I didn't want to try it for so long, not even sure why... but once I did, I was hooked. The food selection is good on most things. In fact most of the grocery stores around here only carry the basics. I couldn't find Hot Cherry Red Peppers anywhere except Meijer....should it be that hard to find!? The store is clean, the isles are large and checkout is top notch. I have never had to stand in line longer than 5 minutes at this store. I usually use the self-checkout which is a breeze as well. Couldn't be more pleased really. read more

I went in at 7:00 AM today; I'll beat the crowd and be in and out in no time, I thought. No such luck: even though the store was almost empty, so were many of the fresh produce shelves. "We constantly replenish them but it all depends on when the trucks come" was the argument of one of the employees. OK, how about the bags to place the produce? How about the isles filled with carts with produce/products but no employees emptying them, and I wonder why is the Meyers in Highland management satisfied with mediocrity? read more

This place is a huge " we sell everything" store that open 24 hours! There is a 24 hour Stracks grocery that's several blocks down (right next to a 24 hour Wallmart) This place of course has a much better selection of food items. But you'll pay a little bit more for the convenience of everything being in the same store. read more

I am new to the burbs and I really enjoy going to this grocery store. First of all it is HUGE and they have such a large variety of items and greats prices. This is a one stop shop because if you need other items besides groceries they have everything you need under one roof from household items, clothes, furntiture, etc. A good find in the burbs. Another plus is the sales tax is only 2% by just crossing over the border to Indiana! read more

Who ever decided to put all the woman clothing together made a big mistake. You can't find anything in that department. Since they changed it I have found NOTHING in my size. Please put it back the way it was. Something do not go together, someone figure it was easier to put everything in one department instead of 3 departments. Maybe that store could use some new managers with common sense instead of being lazy and doing the things the easy way. The store is fine to get a few things that are needed. The meat looks nice but expensive than most places. I will not get produce or anything frozen there since I know a girl that boasted ( to me and a bunch of others) of having 'relations' in the freezers and back area. That is the only nasty thing I have heard about it though. I worked there for 3 months back in 2002 and it was okay. Meijer is a great place to visit and to shop from. The employees are very helpful and friendly, and they always know where something is or the price almost off the top of their head. They seem to actually care about their customers, and that's not always the easiest thing to find. The store is always clean as well, and very well organized. Top notch if you ask me! read more

The Turano bread guy was late so I had to go to another store anyway. I had well over $200 in the cart, The fricken store was very busy on a Friday late morning. The Highland store's remodeling looks like it's complete. Too bad they didn't upgrade the faulty freezer that causes their frozen foods on the top shelf to be encased in ice. Too bad they didn't retrain some of their snarky cashiers to have a better attitude with the customers. I mentioned the freezer problem to my cashier who gave me no reply. When I asked her if she heard me, she said she did but that it wasn't her problem. She told me that if she listened to customer complaints she would just get stressed out. I have completed the surveys, spoke to managers, gone to customer service desk and never have they made an effort to teach their cashiers how to bag groceries properly. They stuff 3 types of bread into one bag, mix canned goods and vegetables, place cleaning solutions with deli and cheese items, etc. The employees belong at Walmart or McDonalds, always complaining to each other and the customer. Why do cashiers ask "did you find everything you were looking for" and then ignore your response. There are too many options available to keep being ignored by management. read more

This is pathetic with the pharmacy. My nephew has adhd and several health issues. It has been a non stop fight with this pharmacy. This is unacceptable for a 11 year old to go without his medication for OVER A WEEK. Then arrived here and we were told the computers crashed and everything was being done by hand. Fine. We waited for a few minutes, only to be told they didn't have the quantity he needed when an hour earlier, they claimed so. We were then told that it was a new male pharmacist and he didn't count the amount that came in. Are you serious? So now, against a doctors order because he needs this medication, he is getting 20 less than what he is supposed too and then we are told that the other 20, "they will be lost." So after 20 to 30 minutes of waiting, the woman with bo nametag laughed as she walked over and said, "it only gets worse from here, the insurance is down." Do you think this is funny? This is a 11 year old child who depends on this medication and this pharmacy thinks it's funny? Pathetic excuse fot a pharmacy. Then spoke to a supervisor who didn't understand why they would short 20 of his medication. Then told us the previous pharmacist was fired. So what's the situation? Lies? Incompetence? Poor customer service? What happened to empathy and caring about other humans? read more

Very bad recent shopping experience. If you are open 24 hours a day, why would you choose 10 pm to close ALL lanes except the self checkout with 12 items or less!??? I have no problem with self checkouts but I had a cart FULL of groceries. Every time I picked up the bag from the bag area, the light went red. Lines of people forming behind me with their few items. I became so nervous with all this happening that I not only forgot to take my receipt, but somewhere from the checkout to my house lost a bottle of wine I had purchased. Of course, without my receipt who would believe me. They did tell me they'd have to check the camera, took lots of info and never called me back. Really? No response after all that? Didn't care so much about the wine, but do not close every single lane. There are people who work late hours. Do your counting at 3 a.m. Maybe I just don't have the right info, but if they would have called back to let me know, maybe I would not be writing this. Oh, and by the way, close to the end of my checking out, I did hear that another lane was now open! There are plenty of other places to shop with good produce (Meijer produce has also gone bad). 10:00 IS NOT TOO LATE to shop in the evenings. I'll find a better store. read more

Meijer is a one stop shop. It has a full grocery store with a deluxe, meat market and bakery. Produce is always fresh. This store also has a pharmacy, cosmetic area. A great toy department and full clothing department. Store is clean and organized. I would recommend more cashiers but typically they have plenty. read more

I pretty much live at this store. I love this store, but I think a huge part of me loving this store so much is because 9 times outta 10 I'm there at night. This store can be insane during the day with how many people are shopping. Meijer Saturday during the day--holy cars batman! But like I said, night time this place is much calmer and I always enjoy shopping there. I don't live in highland, but I drive there bc other grocery stores near me are so expensive and I can get the EXACT same products at meijer for a cheaper price. You all need to know... The Highland Indiana Meijer NEVER has enough checkout registers open. NEVER. This used to be our main grocery store, for its convenience (certainly not the prices!), But in the last year or two they have cut back significantly on their staff, and have tried to steer people to only use the self scanning lines. But if you have a big shopping to do, you will have to wait a frustratingly long time, with long lines and no one coming to open up another line. Really, for the prices they charge, they really should hire more people. read more

Very rude.. Humiliated a young customer who was using her WIC vouchers by voiding out her transactions, making her get back in line and loudly announcing to the other cashiers that "she didn't have time to deal with this welfare sh*t" and never once offered to retrieve the correct items that the customer needed.. When I offered to wait for her to complete her purchases, I was told that I was not allowed to do that nor was I allowed to help her by paying for the items she had that wouldn't ring up, I was told that I couldn't do that either. On a separate occasion, my car battery died in their lot. Not one employee offered to help or asked if we needed help.. I went to the Service Desk to ask if they carried batteries or jumper cables because I needed help. They said "they don't help people"- so I am seriously questioning why their employees- if you can call them that- would choose to work in the retail/service industry.. They would not even let me use their phone to call a friend to help me.. Truly selfish and the most disgusting side of humanity that I have seen in years! read more
