My first introduction to Ethiopian food is at Mela's. And I am so glad. The food is absolutely delicious!! My daughter loved the injera. I had fish Tibbs, my husband my kids had the vegetarian platter. I absolutely loved everything. The injera will fill you up. The fish tibbs are everything!!! It's all very delicious! The service was great! We did takeout, and will be going back for more!!!

My first visit at mela... the food was exceptionally delicious, fresh and seasoned to perfection. I ordered a Mela special pic below. The owners are kind and humble. One of the owners is also the chef & came out to greet me while I devoured my food. I definitely will be back I have been looking for a good Ethiopian spot that can consistently provide great service and food.

The two of us did a to go order. Decently priced and very delicious with moderate portions. Our favorite is ordering a meat dish and veggies so we get the best of everything. All I can say is I highly recommend the amaze sauce for the meat!! Everything was fresh and overall so good.

Dish with 2 meats and 6 veggies, enough for 4 adults.

Delicious food, wonderful service. Highly recommend trying it out. Will def return. Such a treat. We also had the coffee ceremony and it was a great experience. So many good things to say about this restaurant: fun, tasty, delightful, nourishing, service oriented, personable owner and chef. It is a happy place, serving wonderful food.

On my recent visit to Atlanta I was introduced to this amazing Ethiopian restaurant . My first experience ever : We started with the Injera very healthy bread soft Tasty a must try , then we moved to the main dish Mela special which I posted a pic for it . The owner who happens to be the chef came out and introduced her self what an amazing personality and the husband who is at front was very gracious and respectful. Love the food Loved the people who made the food . A definitely must try .

Loved it so much! I'm Ethiopian so i will let you know first hand the food is incredible. Came with my family and they were also impressed. The kitfo, shiro, gomen and derek tibs were AMAZING!! Not to mention the owner is such a sweet couple:) they gave us this beautiful buna (coffee) platter on the house! Food was fresh, service was amazing and the restaurant is so beautiful! You won't regret it!!

Mela's is our new goto Ethiopian restaurant. It's a hike from our home in Woodstock Ga but well worth the hike. There are many delicious dishes to chose from on the menu and they are prepared beautifully. The restaurant is so fresh, clean and new. But it was the owner and staff who were so kind and inviting that has made this our favorite Ethiopian restaurant. They're so sweet and helpful and genuinely wanted us to have a good time . We'll be back before long for more delicious veggie plate :)

The space is very small, no more than 8 people can realistically eat inside but there's some outside tables by the back parking lot (with free parking). If you're looking for value and quality tacos, this is the spot! My only negative, the chips they serve are cold and kept in big plastic containers. They could do with a bit of heating but they taste amazing!

Small enough that if two people exhale at the same time, someone has to step outside. And yet -- the tacos are outrageously good. The shrimp tacos arrive like they have something to prove. The shrimp are perfectly seasoned, juicy, and packed into warm tortillas with the confidence of a restaurant charging triple the price in Midtown. Then come the fish tacos: crispy, flaky, absurdly satisfying little miracles that make you temporarily forget every bad seafood taco you've suffered through in your life. There's barely any seating inside, but there are a couple of benches out back in the open air where you can sit, contemplate your life choices, and wonder why you've spent money at chain restaurants when this place exists. Now we must discuss the horchata situation. I am convinced horchata at Los Niños is either a legend, a social experiment, or a spiritual concept. They *never* have it. Ever. At this point, I assume someone walks in every morning asking for horchata and the staff simply whispers, "Not since the incident..." Still, none of it matters because the tacos are phenomenal. You leave slightly cramped, mildly confused about the beverage program, but deeply happy.

Their…read moreHalloween pop-up was easily one of the most extravagant, creative, and immersive setups I've ever seen. It didn't feel like they had simply added a few decorations for the season; they completely committed to creating an experience. Everywhere you looked, there was another detail that made the atmosphere feel playful, spooky, over-the-top, and incredibly fun. You could tell how much imagination and effort went into transforming the space, and it created the kind of Halloween energy that makes you want to stay for hours and take everything in. What I loved most was how nostalgic it made me feel. Somewhere between the decorations, the energy, the food, and being surrounded by people enjoying themselves, I remembered exactly why I've always loved Halloween so much in the first place. There's something magical about having one time of year when everyone gets permission to be theatrical, imaginative, a little weird, and completely playful.

I had the chicken and beef birria tacos with consommé, cilantro rice, and black beans. My partner went with the steak and al pastor tacos, Mexican rice, and refried beans. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and generously portioned, they definitely don't skimp on the fillings. The margarita flight was also a fun choice and a great way to try different flavors. We noticed they also serve huge shareable cocktails and oversized shots that looked like a blast for groups. The atmosphere is lively, especially later in the evening, with a younger crowd and a fun, energetic vibe that makes it a great spot to hang out with friends. The only thing that rubbed us the wrong way happened right after we were seated. Chips and queso were brought to the table, and we naturally assumed they were complimentary, similar to chips or bread at many other restaurants. After we had already started eating them, our server came back and took them away because they weren't included. Our waitress was otherwise friendly and provided good service, but that initial interaction felt a little awkward. A quick heads-up when placing them on the table would have avoided the confusion entirely. Overall, the food, drinks, portions, and atmosphere were excellent, and that small misunderstanding wasn't enough to take away from an otherwise fantastic experience. We'd definitely come back the next time we're craving tacos and margaritas.

We visited after a graduation celebration and were looking forward to a memorable meal. The experience got off to a rough start with hosts who were not particularly warm or welcoming. Once seated, things only went downhill. Our waiter seemed disorganized from the beginning. We ordered appetizers first, but they arrived at different times, and to make matters worse, the graduate in our party received her main entrée at the same time the rest of us were receiving appetizers. I politely explained that it didn't make sense for one guest to be eating her entrée while everyone else was still eating appetizers and waiting for their meals. His response was confusing and didn't really address the issue, so we let it go. Unfortunately, the graduate's steak was served cold. Rather than preparing a fresh one, the restaurant simply took it back and returned it about two minutes later. It appeared to be the exact same steak based on how we had left it when it was sent back, and while I'm not sure whether restaurants typically reheat food or prepare a new dish altogether, this one was reheated. To make matters worse, the graduate ended up with a stomachache after eating it. As we continued waiting, our entrées never arrived. The waiter was polite but extremely inattentive. We repeatedly had to flag him down because he rarely checked on our table. After a VERY long wait, I asked about the rest of our meals. At that point, he admitted that he had forgotten to place our entree orders altogether. He then had to take all of our orders again and submit them to the kitchen. By the time our food finally arrived, we were no longer hungry and were extremely frustrated, despite remaining patient and courteous throughout the entire experience. The entrées were decent, but nothing exceptional, especially considering the extremely excessive wait and service issues. The waiter did bring a small dessert for the graduate, which was a nice touch, but it felt more like a complimentary gesture because he had forgotten our entrées than a genuine celebration of the occasion, especially given how disastrous the overall experience had been. What should have been a joyful graduation celebration turned into an exhausting and disappointing dining experience. While the waiter was polite, the service was slow, disorganized, and lacking attention to detail. Overall, this was a poor first experience and not one I would be eager to repeat.

A few other things we ordered were the crab cake and Brussel sprouts, which were both really good. I got the birria empanada, which unfortunately was not seasoned at all. It was fried to perfect tho. Overall it was an underwhelming experience and I would likely not return.

I understand the policy and fully support it; I don't understand the hostility. My husband was third in line and there were more than three open tables. Our 3-year-old twins were getting in the way in the crowded line, so I took them to an empty table while we waited--after specifically confirming there were plenty more available than the 2 people in front of us. The table "monitor" immediately came over with an incredibly rude attitude and said he "doesn't care about kids--everyone else has kids." A simple, polite request to wait would have sufficed. Note that I had also had already purchased a margarita so I wasn't at the table empty handed. The superiority complex would be amusing if the restaurant were good, but it isn't. The line looks long but it's by design to make it look more popular than it is. There's only one person taking orders near the door to create the optics that the line is long. The food itself is bland and under-seasoned. We left, spent our money elsewhere, and won't be back. If you have young kids, this is clearly not a place that wants your business.
