I have been seeing Dr. Chan for 2 years now. Dr. Chan has been able to address all of my basic PCP needs during the first year, as well as specialist referrals and other critical tests to make sure I was on track in terms of my health. I am in my late 40s and have been recovering from cancer for the last few years. I had my WORST experience EVER ! They were lie about the price and changed the medicine from Botox to Xeomin ! I was ask the price of Botox since my first call them till I saw they use different medicine while they prepared to do the injection ! They said the price is 10$ per unit for Botox , But they give me 28unit of Xeomin , l was applied 50$ discount from the website , it should be 230$! But they ask me to pay 300$, and they were refused to explain , refuse me to take picture of my case report ! I was checked online after the injection , Xeomin is much cheaper than Botox ! Visited the medical office several times. Usually patient made common about front desk staff being rude and nasty to patients. This doctor is actually the master of all rudeness and unprofessional to her level. Patient care is minimum. But maximum for billing insurances for money. This doctor would accused patient for refused care before explaining her care options and cover herself of liability by quickly document on her note. I confronted her about why she was typing note and was saying out-loud in front of me that I refused care. I asked her to explained so that I understood. She stone face me and stared at me cold. This doctor is the worst of all. All she care is to promote her beauty aesthetic care for out of packet cost. She convinced and pressured me to try her " beauty procedure" a few times without success. My next visits became hell. She would put me down as if I was uneducated. Dr. Chan have been my PCP for years and she is fantastic! She's quite informative out of all the patients she see, the most admirable aspect of her she remembers all of them. I probably make two trips to her office annually, she recalls every little details. I am not speaking of medical records that can easily assess through patient's chart. Am referring to life situations (i.e how's your daughter, did you run that marathon, etc). Dr. Chan is very personable she takes her time with each patient. This a doctor that truly cares for her patients well being. Also the staff is quite friendly. There are two IV nurse that does a fantastic job as my baby veins are not the easiest to work with. Eek! Zocdoc review is fake! Well...Took my husband there and the doctor could not confirm whether it's a flu or not - so need to take extra samples to send to the lab, saying results will be coming shortly and she will call us. BUT, no results, no calls or follow-ups. Then 2 months later, I got a balance due bill from the office. I was soooooooooo unwilling to pay, I mean, she literally did nothing to help us at all. But, we still paid the balance due regardless. Then another 1 month later, I got a balance due bill from the lab - WHAT!!! We are not aware of this at all and it's now the 3rd time we need to pay for a simple visit less than 10 mins, and the doctor could not even identify anything. And uses the lab fee to charge us extra. THUMBS DOWN!!! NOT GOING THERE ANY MORE!!! read more

i like dr chan a lot. i've been going to her for about 4 years now. she has her own office which is run by a really sweet, older chinese office manager who seems like she's dr chan's mom or aunt. dr chan looks like she's in her mid to late 30's. she's pretty no-nonsense but i like how she is very efficient and gets things done. you can pretty much schedule an appt for whenever you want (even next day), but just be prepared to wait. it generally takes about an hour of waiting before she calls you in. read more

I have been under Dr. Chan's care for more than a year and I like to point out that I do agreed that the wait time was too long at the beginning of my visitings (1st and 2nd) and I told Dr. Chan about this and in hope that she can listen and address the "wait time" issue. I came here for two years and I hated it. The doctor is the coldest person you'll ever meet in the medical field. She makes it seem like she doesn't have the time or day for you. She never answers your questions. She actually seems frustrated that you ask questions. She makes uneducated assumptions. Before she asks you about your activity level, she would make a "diagnosis" and recommend you to do or take something. Instead of giving clear instruction, she will bark at you for apparently not knowing where to go or what to do. Her office is usually always empty and you don't even have to guess why. Her receptionist took my insurance card once to photocopy and never gave it back to me. I only noticed after my visit was over and on my way to the elevator. I walked back in to get it and she kept directing me to look in my wallet for it without even as much look around her desk. It was almost like she felt she could never make a mistake. The other receptionist went to the scanner and gave it back to me. The receptionist who wouldn't even acknowledge the mistake just shut her mouth and didn't even apologize. She didn't even look at me after that. This was the same day that the office prioritized a foreign couple ahead of my appointment because they were paying out of pocket for their visit. I had to wait over an hour after my appointment to be seen. In that time, no one else came into the office. That was the day that I knew I needed a new doctor and I never looked back. Years later, they send me promotional mail telling me they have a body scanner now. read more

Dr. Chan has been my primary since I moved back to NYC 6 mos ago. She is a terrible Doctor. She is overworked and jumps to conclusions with me about my medical conditions because she doesn't take the time to calm down and actually read records or speak to me. Been with Dr. Chan for a year and decided to go for a change. My cholesterol and diabetes kept on increasing every time I had a blood test. When I went for my most recent blood test, she forgot to diagnose my cholesterol, but said that it's likely to be high based on my previous record. She doesn't seem to care about her patients. Always telling me to try out new prescriptions when I don't even need them. Seem like she works for the pharmaceutical company rather than helping the patients out. read more

Dr. Chan has been my mom's primary care physician for at least 25 years now. I find Dr. Chan to be very professional, caring, knowledgeable, resourceful and may I add CARING... There's no shortage of great doctors in Chinatown, but my mom chose Dr. Chan because she actually cares. Their doctor/patient relationship started when Dr. Chan was at Beekman Downtown Hospital. My mom has very complicated health issues; Parkinson's Disease, Diabetes, Lung Cancer among other issues. Dr. Chan works tirelessly to make sure that my mom is being seen by the best specialist for each and every disease/issues. My family and I are so impressed with this level of care, we all switched our primary care to Dr. Chan. I have been seeing Dr. Chan for about 12 years now. I'm so glad to have met Dr. Chan. She appers stern and stoic at first but once you get to know her, she has a sense of humor and very easy to get along with. I have been a patient of Dr. Chan since she opened her practice in 2006. I've seen so many negative reviews and I'm not sure why. She does work quickly, but I find that she does care about me and will listen to me and ask me the appropriate questions so she can diagnosis me. She has hired better people in the last few years. She uses updated equipment and uses the computer to keep her records in order. I suppose she could be softer in her approach, but I'm very satisfied and will continue to use her. read more

When you walk into a doctors office you expect a level of professionalism. Melissa Chan has none. One she walked me into her office (my first appointment with her) and she has a big dog in her office. She asked me was it ok to have the dog in the office and I told her NO. She didn't like that response and I could feel a shift in her energy towards me. From that point on the appointment went down hill. As a doctor your job is to listen but I felt that she was listening to respond and not listening to my response. I also know because of the age difference she felt as if I didn't know anything which is fine but I also at the age of 30 know how to handle that. In the mist of her checking my breast I looked over because her blinds were really high. I asked her what was that building across because you have my breast on display with a few plants to cover here and there. She answered saying that it was a jail. I simply sat up and asked her did she really just examine me with her blinds open with a jail across and when I ask you and shake it off as if it's just a candy store. She then asked me to take blood downstairs because she felt that I was being hostile which I know I wasn't because I still needed her to complete my physical. I can't lose my cool if I need something from you and I believe that bothered her. She then went into my elation passport to put in notes about my exam. She didn't list anything regarding my health but instead made it seem as if I was a hostile patient. The only reason why I am writing this review is because this doctor took something from me and then is trying to insult my character. I will write a report on every platform she is has because how she conducted herself during this first meeting was absolutely unacceptable. read more

Dr. Chan is a fabulous doctor. She has been my primary care doctor for ten years, and and my kids are now old enough to also be her patients. She is an excellent diagnostician - diagnosing my problem after two days in NYU Hospital failed to solve it. She has consistently referred me to excellent specialists, has given me her personal phone number to use in emergencies, and has stayed late in the office to treat my son when he had a fall. The lab is right around the corner, and she will make sure that you are seen promptly there if they tell you there's a lag time for an appointment. (Not in love with her office people though.) Dr. Chan is knowledgeable, tech savvy and up with the research. She's very smart, and she doesn't over prescribe. She actually listens to, and respects, her patients, I thoroughly recommend her! what a joke of a place. 1) front desk older lady is rude. I simply wanted to leave a message for the doctor to call me back, and was repeatedly shut down with a no from her. 2) got a vaccine shot. normally i'd say meh, a shot is a shot. i don't even mind the blood after the shot. the worst part was when i realized she didn't even place the band-aid over the shot. it was just covering a random part of my arm. 3) the wait. she makes you wait wait wait 1 hour minimum. and then she comes in for a minute or two and off you go... i was pressed on time and she has a whole line of people waiting. what do i see, the Dr and a pharmaceutical sales person chit chatting about her vacation to california, come the f on. read more
