Horrible horrible place! My mom went there and paid $30 copayment. Dr. shah spent around 5 minutes with her. Told her to come back in a month. When my mom called to cancel the appt. she was told she still had a balance of $30 claiming she never paid the copayment from the first visit. That office is trying to scam clients. Don't go here. My experience with Dr. Shah was positive, which brought me back when I had a serious rash. I unfortunately got booked with Nicole who does not belong in the medical field and maybe could work at a spa. I made an appointment the day before for a serious issue and got the first appointment possible . I got stuck on the train (love the MTA - a 10 Min ride turned to 30) and called the receptionist to inform them of my situation and that I would be a few minutes late 5-10. The receptionist called me back and told me that Nicole would not be able to see me if I'm late. I apologized and begged her to try and squeeze me in. I said I would gladly wait until there was an opportunity, but I was desperate and uncomfortable and need to see a doctor ASAP. When I arrived extremely emotional the receptionist got me water helped me relax and informed me that Nicole would be able to see me at some point. I was extremely appreciative and happy to wait if it meant being seen and possibly getting relief, I felt bad about being late - but given the circumstances I was understanding of a wait. After waiting about 20 min, I heard Nicole speak to the receptionist in a way I wouldn't talk to a criminal, telling her to 'never do that to me again'. I manage a business and would never treat an employee like that. It shows character when the staff is not treated well. The receptionist came out and apologized to me and said Nicole won't see me, asked to reschedule - I thanked her and told her I would not be back; to which she said, 'I don't blame you'. That statement alone speaks volumes of what goes on there. Any true medical professional would have understood the situation and cared about patient needs - clearly Nicole is not that person and therefore should not have patients. Clearly since I was not getting a fancy cosmetic procedure my time wasn't valued enough. I hope Dr. Shah values her business and patients enough to know Nicole is clearly in the wrong field. Let's remember I was not coming in for a Botox injection, this was serious and any doctor would have recognized that. Very unfortunate. read more

I got a groupon for IPL at Smarter Skin Dermatology; it was slightly more costly than other places but I really wanted to be sure to go to a doctor's office (it's your face, after all). I saw a Physician's Assistant who took a medical history and was very professional. I got great results with my IPL and had significant lightening of some sun damage. Highly recommended! read more

I'm so happy I found this place! Nicole, the PA, is amazing. She makes you feel at ease right away, spends time going through various options, and will chase down prescriptions for you when inevitable insurance problems rear their ugly heads. She even had the office mix a customized formula for melasma. Dr. Shah is equally personable and takes the time to talk through various options. I was impressed that she made sure I was informed about all options regarding tattoo removal, and even showed me a makeup that would completely cover the tattoo. You really cannot beat the prices, either. Numbing creams/injections are included in the quoted price, unlike other places. The service itself is much more affordable than anywhere else I've ever been. These folks are not out to gauge your wallet; they're here to listen attentively and suggest the best possible customized treatment plan. She was very kind + personable and I appreciated that she spent time with me to explain the procedure + all my treatment options. Seven years ago, I was experiencing severe hair loss. After seeing multiple dermatologists, I was referred to Dr. Shah by one of her colleagues. Dr. Shah was the only doctor that diagnosed my medical condition and came up with a plan to aggressively treat my hair loss. I wore a wig for 9 months and as you can imagine it was a very dark and depressing time for me. Eventually my hair began to grow under that wig and my hair grew in thicker than I could have ever imagined. Dr. Shah is a very compassionate and through physician. She is current on all new medical treatments in the field of dermatology. Dr. Shah, suggested there was an underlying medical problem that was causing my hair loss and referred me to my primary doctor. Through blood tests I found out I had Lupus, an autoimmune disease. This dermatologist office is cold to patients. Charging extortion amounts of money just for a 2 minute conversation. The doctors here don't care and that they give off an attitude like they are only here to make a very high paycheck. I would not recommend this office, only if you want to be treated like an insignificant object. read more

The doctor was adequate, but what made me absolutely furious was the billing system. First of all, they say they're going to keep your credit card on file. I don't like anyone to have my credit card readily able to be billed at any moment. DESPITE THAT, when I left my appointment, I said to the receptionist, "you're going to charge my card, right?" She said yes, and I left. Four months later, I get an email saying I have an overdue bill. They hadn't charged my card when they said they were going to. I wrote back saying please charge the card you have on file for me; you said you were going to do it at the time of my appointment. They did not. Almost a year later, I get an email saying that I have any overdue bill. I do not appreciate this type of disorganization, especially for an office that supposedly has my card "on file." I always pay my bills on time, so to have them consistently come back with me, nearly a year later (after I had changed insurance providers, so if this causes a problem with my old insurance I will be irate), saying that I hadn't paid, when I was TRYING TO PAY, made me extremely angry. I would not go back just for this reason. There are other dermatologists who take payment at the time of your appointment, and you don't hear from them again that you have overdue bills. read more

Dr. Shah is incredible. I went to her because I'd read great things about her work as a hair loss specialist for women. She was so thorough with outlining clinically proven strategies available to me and telling me what the likelihood of hair growth would be and to what degree with each treatment, how much they cost, and what they entailed. I just was blown away by the depth and breadth of her knoweldge. I found her honest and compassionate. She wasn't pushing anything on me, she even brought up a treatment that she herself didn't offer (although she offered plenty), that tells you something about this woman's commitment to her client over the bottom line. There was no pushiness at all. I felt I was in the hands of an advocate, practitioner, and scholar. The woman at the front desk and the nurse performing intake were the best. The doctor that I had an IPL facial with was very knowledgeable and kind. Unfortunately IPL just isn't for my skin type and I wish I knew that prior to having it done. It's not the price or anything as everything was reasonable, it's just that it burned my skin and I didn't have results. I've had better and less abrasive results from an at-home peel. Anyway the staff is great and I'm sure that they provide other services very well. read more

Some time ago, since the passing of my long-time derm MD, I was fortunately introduced to Dr. Sejal Shah, who helped me tremendously to continue to help improve on and maintain an optimum skin regimen I've kept since my mid-20s that I began because of acne. I am grateful Dr. Shah accepts medical insurance. I experienced that sometimes there is no complete cure, hormones go awry regularly in women. Sometimes I cannot resist the kiss of the sun's glow which, I regret abusive tanning in my teens/20s. I am astonished how relatively in good condition my skin is due to her care. In my 50s, still with occasional acne bouts, there is value in preventative medical dermatological care. She also provides high end cosmetic dermatological options in her private practice such as various clarifying, rejuvenating and/or skin tightening lasers and treatments. Her results on my friends have left me envious. I hope to do a another cosmetic laser procedure soon as well. It's time. At 55, I've personally experienced that consistent supervised skin care maintenance, over the decades, has rewarded me. Oh, and she does excellent botox (me) and fillers. read more

My favorite dermatology office with the best skincare services! I have been getting IPLs here with Nicole for years. This is the only place that I've actually noticed substantial results from an IPL (probably because it's an actually dermatology practice and not a MedSpa). She's aggressive enough with treatment to see real, lasting results, but never too much where there are negative side effects or burns. Also so knowledgeable about everything skincare related. For the life of me I cannot understand how anyone can give Dr. Shah and her office anything less than 5 stars!! Firstly, I have been a patient of Dr. Shah's for about two years and have seen her plenty. If you are looking for a dermatologist who knows her stuff inside and out (Dr. Shah professes as well) and who also has the most impeccable bedside manner, then look no further than Dr. Shah! She is a great listener, will happily spend the time to talk about any concerns or issues her patient(s) has and has not once rushed me out of her office or through an appointment. I am so glad I found Dr. Shah. I had battled pigmentation on my face for years and tried various treatments. Nothing worked until I came to Dr. Shah. She correctly identified that the problem was Melasma and started a very conservative treatment to reduce the appearance. As she got to know my skin, she was able to tailor the treatments for me and I have seen an unbelievable reduction in pigmentation, as well as improved clarity. I know that I'm in good hands with her and trust her implicitly. In addition to topical and laser treatments for melasma, I get Botox from Dr. Shah and she is the only doctor I would trust to do this. I don't look "done" just refreshed which is my preference. I visited the office because I originally bought an IPL treatment from Groupon. After I consulted the Physician Assistant Nicole, whose bed side manner is impeccable, about my main concerns and expected results, she suggest I switch to a Revlite without charging me extra money, b/c my skin is acne prone and I still have some acne scars on my skin! After the first treatment, I decided to buy a package of 5 Revlite and got one extra for free. During my every office visit, the staff took before and after photos to make sure the treatment was on the right track. Nicole is very good at her job. She spent time examining my skin, went through with me about any concerns or new skin issues. She usually made 5 passes of Revlite and added IPL as needed. She even injected new breakouts for me after the laser treatment. Super sweet and professional. Since I still have jawline breakouts every now and then, which indeed bothers me, Dr. Shah prescribed oral medications to complement the laser treatment. I have already finished my first 6 Revlite treatments and been waiting to see the results. Will def return next year for follow-ups. read more

Bought a Groupon deal for the fractional laser treatment based on all the Great reviews and since I though that DR Sejal (according to her profile understood the needs of people of brown skin color ) . Booked an appointment for July 6th ,2015 , for 5.30pm . I arrived at 5.30 at the Location 225 Broadway. Doorman had no clue about this practice and the address listed on groupon had no room / suite number.. I was Told to look at the building Directory and no listing .was found.I called and got the room number, I finally made up the 16th floor 15 minutes later.I Explained to the very abnoxious and unprofessional font desk person what had happened and why I was late and apolgised . She was very nasty and told me that now SHE wont be able to numb me(i though she was the doctor ) until after she gave me all the put me down said That she has to speak to the doctor first. The biggest disappointment was when Dr Sejal came in and started immediately to tell me she cannot preform the procedure without even doing the consultation on my skin and then trying to sell me products and services that will run up to thousands of dollars and told me that the groupon deals is not for me. I guess one has to be rich to go to this practice . MY working class money wasn't good enough. SUCH a HUGE disappointment.Will Stick to my Queens NY Dermatologist .
