No add on custom order. Every pizza on the menu was $35 (16"). I guess we live in a world now where pizza is $35 and the expect a $7 tip for handing me the pizza on top of that. I just graduated App State and I brought my parents here to the blowing rock loco because they were staying in the area but am somewhat disappointed in our experience.. I came here June 10th and we waited at least an hour for our table (which is okay), however, the restaurant was way too hot to enjoy the food. Our waitress was super nice and accommodating and the food was really good but I could see her sweat dripping off her.. My mom asked why she wasn't wearing shorts and she said she was not allowed past a certain length and I think that is ridiculous for how hot it was in the restaurant. I don't think it's acceptable for any restaurant in the summer to have the ax for any amount of time.. my parents were trying to move outside but we were told we could not.. also I get that they are back at full capacity but the place was so packed and chaotic it wasn't that enjoyable of experience, I basically had to yell to be heard. We were in town escaping a hurricane from Florida and figured we'd stop in for some pizza. I have to give the staff credit. From the second we walked in until we left, the service was amazing! I wish I could say the same about the pizza but that isn't the staffs fault. The sauce seemed canned and generic. The overall taste and quality of the pizza wasn't bad but it also wasn't amazing. They need to update their location on Google. We drove up and down Sunset Drive twice, gave up, then found this location on Main Street. And I will say it is a prime location and really stands out among anything else in Blowing Rock. Everything inside looked shiny and new. You could even smell the new wood in the restrooms. I might rank this Mellow Mushroom as the best I have been to. It was July 4th in town, so the lunch wait was an hour. But they handled the crowd and waits very well at this location. While sitting outside waiting, I observed the service on the patio. The two servers out there were clearly well trained, offered up special drinks, appetizers, etc. They were pleasant and moved fast. Was hoping for a similar experience once we were seated. Once seated, we were taken care of by a young lady named Emily that did an outstanding job with service and answering our questions. Service was properly paced, and we never felt rushed, despite a large crowd waiting their turns to eat. Food was tasty and proper temperature. I had the tortilla soup, then a half Caesar salad with grilled chicken. I would have given this place five stars, but the prices are ridiculous here, and I guess at all resort locations. Just for comparison, I paid 3.19 for the tortilla soup in Atlanta last night, but 4.79 in Blowing Rock. I paid 3.99 for the half Caesar in Atlanta last night, plus 1.90 adder for grilled chicken. In Blowing Rock I paid 4.99 and 3.99 respectively. They also don't include chips with the sandwiches like they do in the Atlanta locations. For example, in Atlanta, the whole Italian sandwich is 7.99 and includes chips. In Blowing Rock, the Italian is 9.95 by itself. Didn't even check to see how much extra the chip were. Soft drinks were 2.79 each, are you kidding me? Like I said, great location, great service, great food................but be ready to pay very high resort prices. There is something about these pricey pizzas that is addictive. My personal favorite is the Philosopher's Pie but I've never had one that hasn't tasted premium. Mellow Mushroom is always consistent, a little pricey but super delicious. On a recent trip a friend's pizza did not get fired with the rest of our party and the manager comped his meal, as he should of of course, but still something that doesn't always happen. I recommend the meatballs app, it is just three meatballs and I didn't even order it. But it smelled and looked good enough that I was jealous of all the diners around me that did. read more

Social distancing has made this postage stamp size place even smaller. 7:30pm on a weekday was 20-25 minute wait. Staff made us wait outside in 40 degree weather at "heated outdoor patio" (with gusty winds there are no awnings). They wouldn't allow our party of 5 to wait inside bar lobby area despite no one else being there or any tables being within 20 feet plus. And the hostess was not even polite or apologetic about it. This place is an old time favorite. If there's one thing you want to try for sure, it's the pretzel bites. They come with marinara and cheese sauce on the side and are absolutely delicious. We had a cheese pizza for the kids and adults ordered the Kosmic Karma pizza which consisted of feta cheese tomatoes and a pesto swirl. It was good but it was kind of heavy. Not their best effort on the ToGo front. Ordered 2 pizzas and and order of pretzels. I also ordered 2 sides of dressing to go with it. When they brought out my order the dressing was not there. I asked for it and in a very annoyed voice the man helping me said "you know we charge for those". I said yes I know I thought it was on the order but if not then I'll pay for it. After paying .75 I waited for the man to return then watched him return 3 times without the dressing. Finally a lady asked about it and went and got 1 dressing. When I said I ordered 2 she looked very annoyed again but did go back and get another one. This all happened with my pizzas sitting on the front counter getting cold. We come up here every year. The new location on main in the old Bob Timberlake gallery did not seem as good as the old. unlike the other posters, my husband and I thought the place was too small...though it was almost empty the day we ate there...and it seems to have lost its former hole in the wall fun vibe. now it seems like any ordinary restaurant. nothing unique. The pizza is good...but we accident ka made the mistake of ordering a pizza that had no tomato based pizza sauce! Be sure to read the menu carefully...lol. Sorry to say the staff looked unhappy...both servers and the guy flipping the pizzas in back. Everyone seemed to care less about the place, their guests and one another. Seriously. Don't miss this great place in Blowing Rock! My wife and I just happened upon this place and are glad we had our scrumptious lunch there. My Grilled Chicken Hoagie was savory, drenched in all natural juices. My wife enjoyed her delicious Portabello Hoagie and could only manage the half order. The decor was fun, especially the old Coke dispenser which reminded of when I was young. Our waiter, Lynton, was super, very friendly, and constantly checking on us. We ordered two pizzas for takeout. We got one of the mostly meat pizzas and one of the mostly vegetarian. We asked if they offered a thin crust and they said everything was hand tossed, but they would ask for it to be made thin for us. We thought the pizza was very expensive when we reviewed the menu, but decided to give it a try anyway. Once we ate the pizza, it was easy to understand why Mellow Mushroom is a little more expensive than most. They had listened to our request for a thinner crust and it was excellent. The toppings on both were quality and plentiful. They also automatically included packets of parmesan cheese with our to go order. It was a very busy weekend and there were lines of people waiting for tables when we arrived to pick up our order, but it was ready at the promised time and waiting for us. We had a very large order and they were extremely busy, but I appreciated the guy on the phone letting me know it was going to be a long wait.
