Service and pizza is terrible! Mellow Mushroom has always been one of my favorite places to get a vegan pizza. Well, after trying the pizza in Burlington, NC a couple of times I will NEVER go back to another Mellow Mushroom again. In my opinion, Papa Johns makes better pizza than Burlington's Mellow Mushroom. I wish I would have taken a photo of what was served to me - uncooked pizza dough, greasy/very little vegetables and sauce! Oh and the pizza wasn't even cut. Came here for lunch yesterday with my family and could not have been more disappointed with the whole experience. Most of the wait staff were running around seemingly not knowing what they were doing. Our waitress must have been new (or at least I hope she was) didn't bus our table after we had finished our appetizer, our table was filled with dirty dishes and glasses. Most of the table got pizza and myself and my cousin got sandwiches, which were mediocre at best. When we asked to send one back there was no apology or visit to our table from someone in Management. When it came time to pay the bill, our waitress disappeared for a good ten minutes before she showed back up with our change. Needless to say her tip reflected the horrible service we received. The only reason and I mean the only reason I am giving this restaurant 2 stars is because my Bloody Mary was delicious and the bartender who brought them over to me was friendly and outgoing. read more

Best place ever. Really recommend the pretzels and buffalo pizza. And the spinach dip. Everything here is so good and the pizza has great crust. Also best customer service ever. I'm here right now on Halloween and everyone is dressed up in fun costumes and kids eat for free! They passed out plastic eggs filled with candy and a prize (ex. 20% off your meal, free cheese bread). Overall, really great place and great customer service. We stopped at this location as we were traveling through on I40. Our waitress, Tamika, was wonderful. Even though it was our first visit, she treated us as if we were regular visitors. So, for people who've traveled a bit and have had real gourmet and fresh pizza they know that this place barely hits 2 Stars. I'm not so thrilled by Mellow Mushroom's pizza and I'm sorry hurting all you North Carolinian's feelings but the pizza isn't that great (it doesn't suck but it isn't great). Due to the fact that I get my pizza from a gourmet spot your pizza can't touch it. The service was ridiculously slow. I mean painfully slow and there were probably 8 customers there (6 from our table). How does it take almost 2 hours to get food and drinks. Also, silverware would be helpful if you have a salad, and if its not there don't take all damn day to get it. If it's gonna take you that long point me in the direction of where its at. This place needs help with their pizza's and sure as hell needs to pick up on their service. I'll only go back if someone pays for me but even then, I might find a better place to eat. I went to eat here with my boyfriend around one-thirty this past sunday. We had a difficult time choosing toppings and the waitress was cool with us taking our time. The toppings can get pretty pricey, but we finally decided on a medium pizza with broccoli, Italian sausage, and fresh basil. And on my side: black olives, and on his side: mushrooms and avocado. We were in a rush so we took the order to go and it wasn't until we were in the car that we realized that they had completely jipped us of our toppings. There was NO basil, NO mushrooms, NO avocado, and hardly any Italian sausage. It was the most ridiculous experience I've had dining in quite some time. My boyfriend wanted to egg the place later that night, but I convinced him that a Yelp review would be more constructive. They ripped us off and we are never going to be eating at the Burlington Mellow Mushroom again and we encourage you to do the same. read more

Absolutely NASTY! I went into the Mellow Mushroom for the first time on a Tuesday afternoon at 1:10. The restaurant was a ghost town, which probably should have been a sign. I sat down at the bar and placed my to-go order. At 1:50 I walked out with a calzone and a salad. My salad was absolutely the WORST salad I have ever attempted to eat. I managed to choke down 4 bites before I tossed it. It tasted like there was still dirt on the ingredients. My wife said her calzone was terrible as well. $20 and 40 minutes wasted. I decided to give this Mellow Mushroom a second chance while visiting my girlfriend over Valentine's weekend. I typically enjoy my experiences with the Mellow Mushrooms around Atlanta, and I wanted to believe these guys could give me the same. I came in and talked to one of the managers, Mike, who was very professional and courteous, and he whipped me up a perfect pizza to go. It had Italian sausage, broccoli, avocado, and parmesan cheese - so good! Certainly made up for my unfortunate experience the first time around. Thanks for a "Mellow" time, y'all. I've been to Mellow Mushroom in many other places and never been disappointed. This experience, however, was pretty disappointing, and upsetting when you're on a budget and saving your dining out dollars for special treats. First of all, the server tried to upsell an appetizer by appealing to our guilt about some cause or another. If this is an order from corporate, I have to say it's not very professional. Secondly, I ordered a Greek salad, was supposed to contain spinach and romaine but arrived with only some not-very-fresh iceberg and one unidentifiable long stem of something else. It also contained three pieces of spoiled green pepper. This atrocity cost 4.50. We ordered two small pizzas, one was tasty but so oily I had to dry it off on napkins and it still left me feeling queasy, and another with so sparse a topping that the crust was bare for 2-3 inches all around. And iced tea for 2.50?? Are you kidding?? Got the bill. . . 46.00!!!! For pizza night! I will not be going back there again. I should have known better because it's been my previous experience that a chain that's good anywhere else will be awful in Burlington. But this experience was so disappointing I'll be leery of any location. read more
