    Baked Ziti
    Melody B.

A small hole in the wall Italian place located in downtown Burlington. We usually order their pizza to-go, but I decided to try their baked ziti. I was across the street at the Mini Dingo (a local bar) and the counter person said they'd deliver the food to me. I was quoted 10-15 minutes. After 25 minutes, I went to check on the food and the entrance way was crowded with no employee in sight. After another almost 10 minutes waiting, the counter person finally showed up with my food. I should have known better since I order here pretty regularly when I'm downtown, but I highly recommend not bothering with them delivering it and just going to pick it up. Now on to the food... the baked ziti came with a side salad and a ton of bread. The baked ziti was really good, but the star of the show was the bread. All in all, decent Italian food, but budget some extra time when ordering because it may take longer than quoted.

    "scallops" one broken apart

been here before w no complaints; quiet, good food, pleasant music and staff. this was my first time ordering the broiled seafood which says on the menu it has scallops in it. ive been pescatarian for 8 years and eaten my fair share of scallops. these were strange little pucks of whitefish. nothing about their taste of texture was similar to scallops. said something about it and was told, "i assure you, they are scallops"

    Bruschetta

First time trying this place and I was a disappointed in the food. Ordered: mozzarella sticks, bruschetta, Hawaiian pizza, and linguine pescatore. Mozzarella sticks: Hard to mess up. Marinara sauce was ok. Bruschetta: Too much cheese. Couldn't taste any of the basil and the acidity of the tomatoes was drowned by cheese. Bread was too soggy. Hawaiian Pizza: Soggy af. Literally felt like I was eating wet bread. Linguine Pescatore: Scallops were definitely not fresh and had been sitting for a while. Shrimp was well cooked. Clams seemed "instant". Flavor of sauce was decent and the pasta was cooked well. All in all, not a great first experience. Maybe COVID restricted some freshness.

    The place!

Family of 4 was stuffed for $60.03 before tip. This is right on Front Street in the old downtown section, beautiful! Nice ambiance and the bread, salad and food is all spot on. I was also pleased with the price to food ratio (we all left full). Another little treasure in downtown!

My husband and I stopped in on a Thursday evening around 7pm and the place was pretty full. We sat ourselves at a table in the back room, and I noticed how laid back the place was, which is something I really appreciate. Sadly, it seemed that the relaxed vibe extended a bit too far and reflected on their cleanliness, as I noticed all of the chair rails were dusty, the floors a bit littered, our table sticky, and the plastic menus in need of replacing. Service, however, was wonderful. Our waitress was friendly and pretty attentive given how busy she was. My husband was happy with their on tap beer selection, deciding on Red Oak ($3 on Thursdays!). I went with a margarita and it wasn't the best, but thankfully I didn't pay much for it since it was also on special. They were out of the southwestern egg rolls I initially ordered, so I ended up going with the Philly cheesesteak and homemade chips. I enjoyed the cheesesteak's fresh bread; plenty of tender meat, peppers, and onions; and gooey cheese. It could have used more mayonnaise, but it was still quite good. The homemade chips were tasty but undercooked; if I had been hungrier, I definitely would have returned them and asked for a fresh batch. My husband absolutely devoured the cheeseburger and fries he ordered. He said that it was one of the best burgers he's had in quite a while, and this is a guy who loves burgers and eats them often. I want to return to Piedmont Ale House in the future. I think there are some things they seem to do really well, namely burgers and beer at really reasonable prices!

I've been to a few First Watch locations in Ohio so when it came to Burlington I decided to go once…read morethe initial crowds died down since I didn't remember the food being that memorable. I went early one Saturday morning before the rush (crowds were appearing by the time we left at 9:30a) and were quickly seated in a booth by the window with lots of natural light. The restaurant was clean and well appointed with modern rustic decor and our waitress was super attentive and friendly. I did a bit of research before ordering to only order the most popular dishes in hope of making some memories this time around. I ordered the morning meditation juice which was a perfect mix of their fresh squeezed orange juice, lemon juice, beet juice, turmeric, ginger and agave nectar. Perfect way to start my morning in the sunlight. For my main breakfast entree I got the lemon ricotta pancakes which came with 2 HUGE pancakes the size of the plate. Even though the lemon curd appeared to be a dollop, it was enough for the whole dish since the lemon was very prominent to the point syrup was not needed. The berries were fresh and the pancakes were cooked to perfection (soft with lightly crispy edges). I also enjoyed a hot cup of table side coffee with my drink. I drink it black so I found the plain coffee to have a nice flavor and wasn't bitter at all. Now the million dollar bacon ehhhh.... I heard someone ask if they were thick, not at all. I found the honey to overpower the other seasonings so it was just basic bacon with honey in my opinion. Not worth the almost $7 price tag or the million in the name. If I am in the mood for a solidly good fresh breakfast in a nice atmosphere I'll be sure to stop by, but I wouldn't wait longer than 15 minutes for it.
