This is a good lunch spot and one we hit once every month or two. We would probably go more often if it were a bit closer and if the service was a bit faster. We have to plan our Mellow Mushroom lunches around when we have at least an hour or more to burn (including travel time to and from.) The lunch specials are pretty decent and I LOVE their jerk chicken sandwich. They have updated the sandwich since the old college days but its still a winner. Now its packed with spinach, sauteed onions, pineapple, feta (I hold the green peppers and mushrooms.) So good. The beer list is really great as well. They offer a lot of local craft beer on tap and some hard to find things. Last week they had the 21st Amendment Back in Black IPA which just began distribution in NC a couple weeks ago. Very cool to see this on tap so quickly and at a regional chain restaurant. I would bump up the stars if the service was better. It's always friendly just painfully slow. read more

Mellow Mushroom in Burlington! I love that they opened this one here so that I have another place to go to when I'm in town visiting my parents. It's a typical Mellow Mushroom - nice, lively atmosphere with good pizza and hoagies. The two stars is relative to other Mellow Mushroom restaurants. I'm sorry- but the Durham and Asheville locations blow this one out of the water. One stars only because the pizzas crust was great. We just moved to NC and heard a good things about mellow mushroom unfortunately we where very disappointed... The tables and floor where all sticky and grossly colored and the over all appearance was very rundown. We got our free cheesy bread with checkin and it was flavorless basically it tasted like white bleached toast with low quality mozzarella cheese melted on top. The pizza was ok over all nothing special the crust was better then most though. We ordered a large mighty meat and added jalapeños and black olives to half... Well our order was misunderstood and made half only with call opinions on black olives. The waitress apologized and said she would bring out a new one and said we could just keep this one. We set it aside not really wanting it. She later came back and said that they where going to make a new one with only mighty meat and the extra toppings but it would be a small since half of the large was correct... Very poor call on the managers end. Our family waits until everyone has their food before we start eating. So another 15 min later goes by and half of us have hot pizza and the other half cold pizza. The portion sizes didn't add up either yes the small has 4 slices and the large has 8 but the large has bigger/longer slices... We ended up paying for more and getting less... Not to mention. We where charge for a large specialty pizza with two additional toppings half the price of what it would be on a large (that is still more then a small).. The extra toppings should have been charged for a small size since that's what I was given instead... But noooo of course not even though "it the same amount of slices" they charged more for half toppings on a large because it's still bigger... WE SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN A WHOLE NEW PIZZA END OF STORY and a discount for waiting 45 min before we could actually eat!!! We will not be returning!!! read more

I do love Mellow mushroom for their style and pizza. However this particular restaurant I have only been to twice and I prefer others to be quite frack. Our first appetizer was burnt and had no flavor. It also took someone from our table twice to get our waitress to finally come back by. The pizza was great as usually. And for desert would have been better if the brownie was freshly baked and warm! Overall I gave 3 stars because I know I've had better experiences at other Mellow Mushrooms' before. read more

We ate lunch here today..my daughter ordered coffee. The server said we don't have coffee. I pointed out it's on the menu. She said well it's a Keurig and we are out of coffee pods. There is literally a Walmart a half mile down the road. Send someone to buy some. My other daughter ordered red skin potatoes which the server said was a side available to go with her sandwich. She came back and said it would be 40 minutes for the potatoes. Someone in this restaurant needs to do some planning! read more

I really like this place and loved their food. They have the best Pizza Crust I have ever had and I have had it in NYC. I loved their Avacado Sub but the last time I had it, there were 2 very small, unripe slices. I pointed it out and the waitress brought me a dish with 2 more. I was charged an extra $3. I can't say exactly how this mellow mushroom differs from the ones in Winston-Salem Greensboro and Raleigh, but it is absolutely different. It's like when you know someone's family and they're all really sweet and wonderful and understanding and caring but they have that one uncle who always gives you business cards to his pyramid scheme business. It's not a bad restaurant compared to other restaurants in the area. Compared to other mellow mushrooms however..I'd definitely put it at the bottom of the list. read more

We were traveling from out of state. I just asked my phone, what pizza place is close to me. The Mellow mushroom came up as closest. I saw some of the reviews and thought we would give it a try. We ordered the Mellow Mushroom Special, five of the Thai chili wings and a side house salad. The pizza was delicious. It had Mellow red sauce base with mozzarella, pepperoni, sausage, ground beef, ham, applewood smoked bacon, mushrooms, black olives, roma tomatoes, green peppers, and onions. Topped with extra mozzarella. It had a decent amount of toppings. My husband is not a fan of pizza and he agreed 5 stars! If you are a lover of Thai you will enjoy the wings. They came with celery and carrots. I didn't eat the salad and saved it for later, but it was a decent serving for a side salad. It looked good. So my husband wants to order again while we are here to try the sandwiches or calzones. The pizza was worth the price. read more

Mellow Mushroom is a fun place to dine. They have nice salads and Pizzas, including a quite good gluten free Pizza Option. This is all served well in a very pleasant environment. I called ahead on a Sunday and was told that my pizza would be ready in 20 mins. I got there after 25 mins and was told that they hadn't even put my order in yet. They assured me that it would only be 10 minutes. In the end, it took 55 minutes for the pizza to be ready after I called (35 minutes late). Add on top the fact that this was $30 for a large and I was not happy. There was only one apology and very few tables full. On top, the pizza just wasn't good. Their "fresh" mozzarella was tasteless, the dough tasted like a sponge, and the pizza just lacked in every way. It's mediocre and not worth the price at all. Especially when whole foods will do 2 large pizzas with better ingredients for $20... I'm extremely disappointed and won't be returning. read more

Always good to check out the different Mellow Mushrooms around. This one was super friendly, bright and clean. Really liked the openness and natural light from the large windows.
