You can find this Mellow Mushroom on 205 Broad St, Chattanooga, TN 37402. This is the boulevard that lead up to the Tennessee Aquarium - from what I recall from being nearby previous to the building of the Aquarium, the area has gone through an amazing revitalization and includes some great shops and restaurants, if pizza *gasp* isn't your thing. There seems to be plenty of on street parking. We visited the Aquarium and wanted to get a bite afterwards, so Mellow Mushroom seemed like a good bet - busy but no wait. As someone who's eaten at around a dozen locations around Atlanta (some closed or moved) and the Southeast, I'm very familiar with the menu. The interior at this location in Chattanooga is both familiar and different as expected, with lot's of kitchy rock-and-role and Grateful Dead influenced themes pretty much everywhere you look. There's also a welded metal "Mel" figure out front - it's a good place to get your photo-op on if you're inclined (we were so we did). We ordered up a few pies and salads - this time focusing on the caesar but their Greek is also good. Dressings come pre-packaged which is something they've done to improve quality control I believe. For the pies we did something simple - Magical Mystery Tour (which is no longer on the menu but they'll still make it when requested) - shrooms, spinach, jalapenos, feta and mozzarella with pesto; and a second veggie pie customized a bit. Both were delicious - if you haven't had this pizza they start with a mixed whole wheat and high gluten flower so you get a good amount of crunch on the surface, chewy guts and the nutty goodness of the whole-wheat flower, liberally coated with garlic oil. For me the crust is everything, but really what they've got going on with the offered specialty pies (most if not all musically themed) allow you to sample many different flavor combos - just look at the menu until there's something everyone likes. Service here is actually better than many of the restaurant's in Mellow's native Atlanta, but then again most of these pizza places had staff that were intentionally rude - sort of expected. Not so in Chattanooga. Overall the pie was awesome, the service good and I wouldn't hesitate to eat here again during my next visit. read more

The pizza was out of this world, as always! What prompted me to give 5 stars was the service. Raven could tell my mom was into the theme of the restaurant and Raven was knowledgeable of the art and artists. She encouraged us to walk around and check it out. Hello Chattanooga, TN. I have never been to Chattanooga more less the state of TN. I came here scouting my dream endurance race for next year full Ironman Chattanooga. After solid morning workout running the run course was looking for some recovery food. My friends live in Rome, GA (who have made day trips hanging out in Chattanooga) suggested Mellow Mushroom for lunch. The location is ideal spot right near the river or walking distance from Ross Landings. It right in the heart of downtown. The menu is pretty straight forward with pizza, pasta, and your basic italian fare. I went with small pizza for lunch. You can build your own but decided go with one of the menu item ones the Thai Dye Pizza. It was good. The sweet chili sauce was little weird for me. It almost overpowered the pizza. The crust and dough they use is awesome. No doubt fan of!!! The small is decent size that I had hard time finishing it. It more then enough food for one just in case wondering if ordering enough food. The service was five star. Our waiter was awesome the whole time. The interior like the art on the walls. It gave the place personality more then just another pizza restaurant. They have multiple wide screens around the restaurant keep you on top of sports for the day. It very spacious restaurant with assortments of booths and tables. The art structure out front of the restaurant kind of cool. If get my spot for next year Ironman. Very hip, love the wood tables and the open kitchen area. Very colorful walls, I love the mushrooms everywhere! Our waitress was fantastic! She was super nice and on top of everything, including my food allergies. I wanted to order a beer, and the waitress was kind enough to give suggestions based off of my tastes and even let me sample some before ordering so I knew what I liked! I ordered a vegan pizza. The crust was both gluten free and vegan, and it was amazing! Might be the best vegan crust I've ever tasted. The vegan cheese was perfect! Overall I had a great experience! First 1 star review I've ever left for a restaurant anywhere, of any kind. Group of 9, with a toddler. Seated surprisingly quickly since the restaurant wasn't very busy. Drink orders taken at a normal, proper pace by a kind and helpful waitress named Haley. Ordered a large cheese pizza immediately so the toddler and younger kids could start eating since it was getting later in the evening. Drinks come... full food order taken. 5 small pizzas, 2 salads, wings and a burger. 50 minutes later the large pizza shows up. 1 hour and 40 minutes later the rest of the food starts being delivered to our table. By 2 hours in, we were still waiting on the wings and salads. Haley was very apologetic, but she couldn't help the situation, and we knew that. We had to box up the food that was brought to us so we could get the young kids home to bed. But hey - the water and RB margaritas were good. When we discussed the situation to the manager? Their solution was to reduce our bill by the 20% automatic tip that Haley was to earn due to our party size. Simply ridiculous and clueless about the problem, which wasn't the service but was about how the restaurant was being ran. It was clear that the complaints fell on deaf ears. We added a tip back in anyway so Haley wasn't punished, so there was no real "compensation" for the issue. We won't be back and I wouldn't recommend anyone come here with so many other options in Chattanooga. You don't fix bad management unless you completely overhaul it. read more

The Holy Shiitake mushroom pizza is one of the best pizzas I've ever had. The service though was lacking. The waitress either had a very bad day, or doesn't like her job... I love the Mellow Mushroom. I think I have been to 4 or 5 of their restaurants and never had a bad meal. Between me and the wife we have tried several of the sides and pizzas are large and just to my liking My only issue is the noise. The place can get loud but when weather is nice we try to sit outside for the view. This location can get overrun at times if events are in the area but they do their best to keep up so I know going in to expect it. We have gone before Lookouts games and they make sure we get out quick. I have been lucky here and the service and girls working here have been very good. We are regulars. read more

FYI I would provide negative stars if that was an option. I went to mellow mushroom on high street today. I was celebrating my friends leaving for Europe in the morning. I am a combat Veteran and my hearing was damaged in combat. Sometimes if I am not concentrating I tend to get loud because simply I cannot hear myself like most can. Well the manager came over to me assuming I had drank too much. I just arrived there after getting a Pedicure. I had 1 IPA. Then after placing my food order I ordered another beer only this time a "Church Music IPA" and they would only give me water. I love those that (to copy from the movie a few good men) sleep under the blanket of freedom I helped provide. They would not serve me and instead brought me a water so I left. I made sure that everyone inside the bar could hear me now. I am a man with ZERO stress in his life, good health, plenty of money and great friends. All I was doing was being happy and they cut me off. I will never spend another cent in a place like this, not sure if you will listen but if you enjoy bleeding heart liberals who know nothing about sacrifice please go there. It is so challenging to find authentic vegan options. That search stopped when I found this restaurant. They offer a lot of lacto-ovo vegetarian options, that can be customized to make it fully vegan. That was perfect for me. My friend and I had the cheese bread with vegan cheese, Teriyaki Tempeh hoagie, the Enlightened Spinach Salad and the Holy Shiitake Pie (which I also replaced with vegan cheese). I love the mushroom pizza!! The flavors are so good; the mushrooms with the garlic aioli and cheese come together perfectly for an almost herby but not overpowering taste. The crust is browned on the outside but soft and bready on the inside. If you check in, you get these pretzel bites with an amazing beer cheese dipping sauce! We've been here several times and overall, this location is "meh". While the service has been generally good every time, the wait times can be crazy and we've had one really surly hostess. What can really let this place down is the food. Every pizza we've had is underdone, and every appetizer lukewarm. This is especially sad if you're a fan of cheese bread. The taste is very good - very garlicky, slightly herby, nice amount of cheese, but both times it's shown up at the table barely warm, as if it's sat in the kitchen waiting on something else. Sad. Similar issue with the pizza: cheese and toppings taste fresh, the high quality pepperoni is BF's favorite in the downtown area, but why take pizzas out of the oven prematurely? Their crust recipe is really tasty, but undercooking them lets the team down. Tasty, but ultimately a floppy mess that gets cold quickly. This is all mildly disappointing, but what put this over the top was our beer order. Both selections arrived mostly flat, BF's Guinness was poured incorrectly and had an off taste. My cider tasted OK, but as it was a brand I'm unfamiliar with, I couldn't judge if it was sour or not (it did taste slightly hoppy). We had a very early lunch, so it's possible they were the first pours, but we just shrugged and went on with our meal rather than send anything back, and we didn't ask for another round. My tip here is if you're going to order any draft beverage, don't do it when they've only been open a short time. All told, if I'm going to spend $60 on a quick lunch for two, this is not a place I'm going to come back to when there's better pizza and beer to be had elsewhere. read more
